Has anyone changed out their factory antenna for a shorter or stubby? If so, which is the best for keeping reception?

Thx.

Nope, never been done, but I think I have heard of it before... Oh yeah, 12 topics below you is a thread about that started today as well as the countless threads throughout here regarding that. The search function is a helpful tool!

You will lose some reception as you get towards the outer reach, FM is line of sight so it comes with the territory.

Not just LOS but antennas need to be cut to the wavelength they’re “listening” for to get the best reception.

I have a 4in stubby one on my truck, no issues with reception yet. I also live in the middle of KC so pretty hard to not get reception.

Ronin stubby since first week of having my truck. Zero issues with reception but I’m also on a major city and don’t have things like trees/mountains to interfere

I have the Ronin Stubby too. Have never used the radio, usually Spotify or audible. But it looks good. 9c1b8fed8676fe55db8254d3585f51bc.jpg

I use XM radio so I just decided to eliminate the antenna completely. Love the look and I could STILL pick up the local FM station that I would listen to if I didn’t have XM. Found a black rubber cap to fit over D09C5307-89C3-4264-9BEB-54908F10B330.thumb.jpeg.7b87c99f2cd7f1c8f146bd66c71eb16a.jpeg
