This is mostly a rant because I'm fed up with all this. Had tons of problems last night the front grill camera started malfunctioning, going black and flickering on and off while in use or going blank instead of turning back to regular infotainment, so will have to make another trip to the dealer.

22k miles and had all these problems:

1. 12 recalls

2. Brake controller malfunctioning

3. Safety features/warning features going out

4. Oil leaks

5. Infotainment randomly playing two sources at once while locking me out of any control.

6. Infotainment screen randomly going blank

7. Radio randomly changing volume, drastically up or down.

8. Parking sensors randomly notifying me they aren't working.

9. Blind spot monitors and side sensors going out.

10. Service ESC

11. Digital screen in gage cluster flickering or turning off.

12. Alignment issues.

13. Occasional clunk at rear end when stopping.

14. USB ports sometimes failing to work (have tried different cables).

15. And now cameras going in and out.

I've got friends that have previous generations GM trucks that never had problems, but I personally have never had a new vehicle with so many different issues. Their quality control sucks. Not sure if the CEO cut costs too much or what, but dont think I'll buy another GM again.

I've always hated that term. "New new body style" sounds so stupid. The GMT900s were crap, BTW. They were designed and built while GM was going bankrupt, talk about cost-cutting galore. I defected to Ford during that time. The K2XX is a superior vehicle in just about every way. The T1XX is a nice improvement on that.

OP, I'd look into lemon-lawing your truck If I were you. That many issues is simply unacceptable. That said, the grass isn't always greener on the other side. You can see Ford is still having problems with their 2020 truck that was designed in 2015, and Ram is also not immune from issues if you visit their respective forums.

The Tundra is the most reliable truck you can buy, because it's old tech. All the bugs have been thoroughly worked out over the decade it's been in production. If reliability is your only concern and you're willing to live with the older vehicle, I'd go Toyota.

I would rather drive my GMC truck with "Some" problems than that from any other Manufacturer.  That said, If your having that many problems contact a Lawyer to Lemon Law that truck. All Manufactures have bugs some worse than others hence the Lemon Laws. My 2020 Carbon Pro is and has been the finest Truck I've owned and without problems.  Good luck OP at getting your Truck up to spec.

The -900s are pretty crappy but the HDs were okay.  Especially when the new frame hit 2011 as that made the HD a more than competitive truck in terms of payload/towing, etc.  The LML is trash however.

Biggest issue with the -900s in the salt states is rust.  They rot out faster than the -800s did.  And if you've got an oil burner AFM motor.  The 4.8 should have got the 6 speed but stuck with the 4L60 that does nothing but blow up in the -900s.  Its a shame as the 4.8 with the 6 speed in the Express vans are pretty nice to drive.

If the 4l60e is blowing up its because most people push it beyond what its designed for by the manufacturer. People stick big tires on or heavy duty bumper an big lifts and tow big boats or heavy trailers and then complain its the transmission that sucks when if they would tske the time to read the limits in their manuals it would save alot of “blown trannys”. Im not saying the 60 is not without its design flaws and other issues but overall theyre good transmissions and will last a long time if taken care of properly.

Sorry to hear of all your troubles, but yeah I agree I would be pushing for a lemon law replacement.

Rule #1.NEVER buy a first year redesign. I've had four GM trucks the last 25 years. 95 GMC Sierra, 2004 Avalanche (Best Truck I ever had) 2015 Silverado, and now my 2020 Silverado. The 95 is still running at 250k miles. it has had one trans rebuild. The Avalanche lost the the 4L60 with 110k. It has 200k+ plus now and still runs great. The 2015 has 62k and sold to my niece. One dead battery in it's history. So far the 2020 is "Like a Rock"...but I've only had it for a month....so I guess we still have a ways to go...but I don't go throwing a lot of mods on my trucks, and treat em with love!...or maybe I'm just getting lucky, IDK.

What was the issue with the clunk noise from rear. Did you ever figure it out ?

No, that is rare and I havent figured out how to duplicate it.

To those saying lemon law, it unfortunately won't qualify. The issues for the most part dont cause the vehicle to be inoperable and are all pretty random, often times whatever is wrong starts working again on it's own before I can get it to the dealer. It hasn't been out of commission enough to qualify, it's just very frustrating, intermittent problems.

I did have to lemon law on my f150, but that spent 64 days in the shop for major electronics issues, (wouldn't start for 28 days) and major transmission issues, that is why I went to GM. I havent been stranded yet like my f150, but all the issues are not making me feel too good about the quality control at GMC and am questioning the longevity of the vehicle.

Do you mind elaborating on the issues with the 900s, please? I've heard a lot of folks say those are the most reliable generation.

It's one guys opinion.  The 6.2l and the 6 speed is the best bang for the buck buying used.

Reliable because they essentially used the gmt-800 series drive train. The plastic interiors and horrible exterior looks is a huge reason why most consider it one of the worst series of Silverado ever made by GM. And lets face it, gm made some of the worst crap during those years, wasn't just the Silverado.
