Hi everyone and thanks for having me! My last two trucks were Ford F150s. It has been a few years since I owned a GM product.

I am looking at purchasing a 2018 Sierra 1500 with 22000 miles on it. It has the 5.3 engine and a six speed transmission.

It looks to be in pretty good condition with a few options. It was a rental vehicle for the first part of its life.

I am curious if there is anything I should look out for or questions I should ask the seller.

Thanks in advance!!

Curious, any particular reason you're not going with a 3rd F150? Not looking to start a bash fest on Ford, just curious what your experience was like (good and bad). And I'm with everyone else on staying away from a rental purchase, I did it once with a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee and it was by far the most problematic vehicle I've ever owned. Had it barely a year and put over $4k into repairs in it. The price on the Grand Cherokee lured me away from GM, but in the end I lost my a** when I traded it in to get back into a GM product. Haven't looked at a vehicle with rental history ever since.

Five of my last six vehicles were Ford F150s and one was an older 1982 GMC 1500.

They all were very reliable vehicles. The vehicle I am driving now is a 2011 F150 ex U-Haul vehicle.

I have owned it for over seven years and it has not needed anything other that oil changes gas and a set of tires

and I replaced the front rotors and pads last week.

Up here in Canada's west coast every truck I have looked at is either overpriced or very high mileage or both.

Gotcha, maybe Canadians are much nicer with their rentals lol. Glad you've had good luck with your current rental purchase.

I gave the dealer a $500.00 deposit on the truck today  and I will fly there and drive it home next week.

No turning back now! I will keep you posted as to how it works out!

I made it home yesterday afternoon with the new truck. The trip home was 15 1/2 hours driving 1407 kilometres or 875 miles. Other than a flat tire the trip was uneventful. The truck burnt 9.0 litres of fuel every 100 kilometres or 26.1 miles per gallon. I stopped to fill the fuel tank half way but I'm pretty sure it would have made the trip on one tank. I'm very happy with my purchase its the first GM product I have owned in a lot of years. Its very quiet at highway speeds and everything in the cab is nicely laid out.

98 litre tank at 9 l/100 km = 1100 km/tank

Also note that (at least on mine) the fuel consumption is about a half litre more than what the computer says.  Still, you did pretty good considering the mountains.

You've got me curious.  Your trip sounds like some of my previous day trips!  Where in BC are you?  Good luck with your truck.  I'd be more comfortable buying a used truck from a reputable rental company than a comparable used truck from a stranger.  Either way its a risk but you do what you can to reduce your chances by doing your research.  I rent regularly and probably take better care of the rental than my own vehicle.  I don't want any extra charges or hassles when I return the vehicle!

DO NOT buy it. I used to work for enterprise and the ****** we did.  I remember in the minus 35C days we would rev the ****** out of them keep them at 4k to warm up the engine while it was frozen stiff stories go on.

That's funny right there.

Reminds me of the time about 30 years ago I had a loaner dodge minivan from the dealer.

Me and my brother took it to dinner it was about -20 F.

Left it in first gear and let it sing for about a mile. We were laughing our asses off. It had about 35 miles on it. I did a lot of dumb schitt like this back then .  ??

He already bought it, and drove it almost 900 miles back home.

I am pleased with my new truck. It has a few months of bumper to bumper warranty left so if and issues come up they are covered.

Its a nice vehicle to drive and other than a few scratches in the box liner it looks like new.

I'll give you $23k CAD for it.
