Has anyone recently gotten rid of their 2019 Trail Boss? I have roughly 19k miles, and I'm on my 3rd replacement rear glass... While the vehicle is "fixed" I'm thinking of jumping ship and going with something different. What should I reasonable look to get for my TB? It's got leather, the convenience package 1 and 2, basically fully loaded... I also added the bakflip mx4 bed cover and rough country side steps. Thanks in advance!

Check KBB and Truecar. My RST is rated between 38-41k. I flirted with the idea of getting something new during the incentives the past few months and had offers of 38k from multiple dealiars, but they wouldn't budge on theirs. I suspected I could get it closer to the 40k had I pushed. Being a Trail Boss, I suspect they'll be a bit stronger. KBB is at least a good starting point before talking to dealiars.

I traded my dbl cab 4x4 RST with 10k miles in in april....KBB was 32k for trade and most werent giving KBB because auctions were closed..i went to 6-10 dealers,  car max, car stub, and 3 other private buying institutions

at that time it was retailing for 36-38k ( 36k was selling price i paid new and 48k was MSRP) and i got 31k for trade....another dealer was offering 32k but didnt have truck i wanted but most of them were offering 28-29k.....crazy right...... since then used truck prices have skyrocketed but new truck prices have went up as well.....so get more for yours but pay more for new (if you can find one) type a deal.......guess it all works out the same in the end

probably doesnt help you as alot has changed in cpl months....and that was here in california

what i should have done was hold onto mine and sell it privately but was scared having 2 loans out on 2 new trucks and having to sell 1 fairly quickly in midst of this issue we have.....but seeing how used market went up i dont think i would have had a problem,  at the time was unsure....i did have feeling deals on new trucks wouldnt last as inventory was low back than but didnt see used market shooting up like it did......makes sense really but whateves.....

Funny, I literally just sold mine to the dealer today, 19 fully loaded TB MSRP 60k that I paid 51k for in July 2019. Dealers best offer was $46.5k. I honestly couldn’t believe it but needless to say I jumped on it and it’s not mine anymore.

Same as you, my truck has been messed with too many times with as recently as this week they replaced the rear window and entire headliner, AGAIN. The build quality of this truck has been abysmal for me and it’s had way too many issues for me to keep long term.

I used to work at a Chevrolet dealership for a few years and trading could be good or bad. Good if you're upside down and you get something with rebates that will eat up some of your negative equity. Ideally, dealers want to make money 3 ways (with the trade in buying it below wholesale which is a shitty back and forth with their sales desk, they try to make money on the rate of the loan, and lastly the vehicle they are selling which includes the vehicle itself and all the extra BS products they try to add). It depends on how much you owe. If you own it outright and want to get rid of it fast then Carmax gives the most money for vehicles compared to regular dealers. There is a wildcard scenario though that you can take advantage of if you're lucky. Dealers compete with other dealers within their area. If you go on the last weekend of the month or even the last workday of the month they might do what we call in the car industry "pull their pants down " and give you a ridiculous deal just so they can make their sales goal and be on top. Sometimes they hit their money sales goal early in the month that they can do loser deals the rest of the month to be top volume dealer for the month as well. Sometimes though they haven't met their money sales goal and the situation can be different. Use your judgment and SHOP AROUND dealers and make them compete. Don't be afraid to show quotes from other dealers. Whatever you do don't commit right away until you're ready. Salesperson will try to get you to commit right away by asking questions such as "if I can beat the other dealers price do we have your business today only?" Good luck!

lucky for me i was dead even on equity.....i would have never done it otherwise, even all the dealesr were shocked that i only had it 7 months and wasnt upside down.....but i still lost money.....tax i had to pay twice plus few k on the truck....never do it again thats for sure.....the new 2500 werent out yet, when i got 1500......got fair shake on both ends but you cant buy, sell, buy new vehicles in short period of time and not lose something, lol

What do you think it is worth, realistically? Different markets will bring different values.

Are you going to stay with GM, or go to the competition? All things to think about, because you are going to get answers from all across the US, and Canada.

Didn't have a TB but I did break even on my 19 after driving it about a year (minus tax) and the dealer I traded it to sold it within a week.

As others have mentioned, truck values are very strong right now but again that does apply for new as well.

Have you thought about getting in another TB but with a solid window? Seems like there are zero issues with the solid window. Love mine

Check Carvana or Vroom. Enter all your info and they’ll come pick up your car and give you a check. Carmakers has also been giving numbers close to carvana recently if you have one of those around you.

Used car values are sky high right now with the shortage of inventory.

I paid $45k for my truck in Nov and just got an offer from carvana for $46k.

If I can find a suitable replacement, I’ll pull the trigger this week.

Carvana gave me a quote of 44k, which is more than I owe on truck, and gives me hope that I might be able to get more at a dealership...

Carvana was about $4k higher for me than any dealership but that being said, if a dealer offers you say $42k trade in its worth it just to avoid the taxes on the new truck if you sell it to Carvana.

Good to have options regardless.

    • Common failure.  You need to replace the fuel door housing.   The painted cover transfers over to the new housing.  To remove the old one there is 4 spots where you poke the plastic to release it.
    • No such thing as regenerative braking on a pure ICE vehicle.     Regenerative braking is the re-capture of energy from electric motors and stores it in the battery pack.  So hybrids, PHEV and EVs have regenerative braking.     What you are seeing is the charging system changing modes is all.  Its likely entering charge mode for some sort of reason is all.  All of the charging modes will be listed below.   As for L10 vs D.  L10 turns off automatic grade braking.  L10 puts you in control of grade downshifts where in D it will automatically do it based on brake pedal position and other factors.  Otherwise L10 and D drive exactly the same aside from that one aspect.    Battery Sulfation Mode The BCM will enter this mode when the interpreted Generator output voltage is less than 13.2 V for 45 minutes. When this condition exists the BCM will enter Charge Mode for 2–3 minutes. The BCM will then determine which mode to enter depending on voltage requirements.   Charge Mode The BCM will enter Charge Mode when ever one of the following conditions are met:   Windshield wipers are ON for more than 3 s. Climate Control Voltage Boost Mode Request is true, as sensed by the HVAC control module via serial data. High speed cooling fan, rear defogger, and HVAC high speed blower operation can cause the BCM to enter the Charge Mode. The estimated battery temperature is less than 0°C (32°F). Battery State of Charge is less than 80%. Vehicle speed is greater than 145 km/h (90 mph) A current sensor malfunction exists. System voltage is determined to be below 12.56 V When any one of these conditions is met, the system will set targeted generator output voltage to a charging voltage between 13.9–15.5 V, depending on the battery state of charge and estimated battery temperature.   Fuel Economy Mode The BCM will enter Fuel Economy Mode when the estimated battery temperature is at least 0°C (32°F) but less than or equal to 80°C (176°F), the calculated battery current is less than 15 A and greater than −8 A, and the battery state-of-charge is greater than or equal to 80%. Its targeted generator output voltage is the open circuit voltage of the battery and can be between 12.5–13.1 V. When fuel economy mode is active, the generator is not charging, only maintaining open circuit battery voltage. The BCM will exit this mode and enter Charge Mode when any of the conditions described above are present.   Headlamp Mode The BCM will enter Headlamp Mode when ever the head lamps are ON (high or low beams). Voltage will be regulated between 13.9–14.5 V.   Start Up Mode When the engine is started the BCM sets a targeted generator output voltage of 14.5 V for 30 s.   Tow/Haul Mode (if applicable) Pressing the Tow/Haul Mode button located on the center stack, the vehicle system voltage is raised and the remote (non-vehicle) battery will be charged. Having the headlamps on will raise the system voltage and if the Tow/Haul button is applied it will not serve any purpose. The voltage is regulated between 13.9-14.5 V.
    • Hello from Australia Just sharing that there is now a way to delete the active shutters entirely with just a plug in module. Opens up tons of room to light bars etc.
    • I have an observation and a question... 1) I watch the voltage closely because I have had to dial in the cut-in/cut-out voltages of the battery separator to my camper.  The "smart" charging drives me nuts.  Anyway, I noticed that when coasting for a while, and especially if lightly using the brakes (though not necessary), the voltage goes up from mid/high-13 volts to mid/high-14 volts.  Then it drops back down after stopping or going again.  Consistently!   The only explanation I can come up with is REGENERATIVE BRAKING!  Well, maybe that's a little bit of an exaggeration, but it's certainly free extra battery charging.   2) Driving on mountain roads I will use L and vary the max gear.  Things straighten out and I end up in L10.  Sometimes I leave it there for a while.  Is there any difference between L10 and D?
