I just bought a 2020 Silverado 1500, but it did not come with programmable garage door buttons (Homelink) installed in the overhead console.  I wondering if anyone has installed one after they bought their truck?  Also, I am having a hard time finding out if the truck is pre-wired for the Homelink console or if I would have to order that wiring separately. Any help would be appreciated.

I also have the non homelink console...I took the console down there's a big plug up there with nothing going into it in my LT which I'm 99% certain that's for the homelink plug in... Also up there is the plug for the dimming mirror... That's a plug and play if you're also interested in doing that too..Here's the homelink plug in I believe ...I was hoping that plug also had the power slider figured into it as well???Anyone chime in on what this gray plug enables???

Thanks for the great picture, that helped a lot.  I agree with you about that being the Homelink plug and thanks for the heads up about the dimming mirror plug.

That looks like a Really great option and probably a hell of a lot cheaper than getting the factory Homelink console.  Thanks!

I checked out that company from the link you sent and found several negative comments about them (shopchevyparts.com) on the web and not one positive comment. They could be legitimate, but I’m a little wary of a company that won’t let you order a part without creating an account.  I think I’ll call them next week and do a little more vetting of their legitimacy.

That's the one I installed in my truck, the remote just clips into the back of the mirror, supposed to have a ten year battery life.

Thanks for the info. I think I’ll try and get the combination dimming mirror with garage door buttons.  The picture at shopchevyparts.com looks like the buttons are built into the mirror itself.

Let us know if the one with the dimming mirror is plug and play .....

I’ve bought most of my accessories from shopchevyparts, probably 3k worth. BedRug, exhaust, kicker sub, lighted emblem, etc etc. Never a problem. Stuff always came quick and as expected. ?‍♂️

So, after talking to my Chevy dealership, I found that even though there may be power to the auto-dimming connector, the components needed to make it work (wiring harness from overhead console to mirror, module, and programming) was cost prohibitive to say the least ($400 +).  So the auto-dimming mirror option is out.

Even though the shopchevyparts.com manual dimming mirror was reasonably priced at $131, by the time you added tax & shipping it came to more than $150, which was really more than I wanted to spend.

I finally decided on ordering the Chamberlain 3 button combo mirror/garage door opener on Amazon.  It was only about $110 and shipping was free because I have Prime.  Here is the part I ordered:
Chamberlain Group TM210 ARQ Mirror with Garage Door Opener, One Size, Black

It seemed like the best option for me price-wise.  I’ll let you know how it works out.  Thank you all for your input and help.

What you are looking for is GM Part 13581082.  This is the correct auto dim mirror for the T1 style trucks.  There is another thread on this forum that goes into much more detail about this topic.  It is titled "Rear view mirror options" the thread contains many pics from past owners who went down this road.  Very helpful.  There are additional threads for those a bit more confident in there abilities and want to add the OEM rear view mirror with camera in the third brake light.  Both of these rear view mirror options are plug and play with NO PROGRAMMING or additional modules required.  This has been verified many times in other threads.  However, the 2nd option is a bit more expensive and involved (adds cost of 3rd brake light with camera, additional wire harness for camera, and the video screen rear view mirror) .

P.S.  The regular auto dim mirror can usually be found at local salvage yards in 2018 and newer Tahoes/Suburbans.  Or you can try searching for it on www.car-part.com. Not a sponsor, this is just where I purchased mine.

P.P.S.  To clarify, the rear view mirror does not contain home link capabilities.  Just providing info on achieving the OEM look.  As for the OEM homelink buttons on the overhead console, purchase either of the 2 overhead console options with A) homelink, rear slider window, and moonroof options or B) just with the homelink and rear slider window options.  Granted you will not be able to do anything with those extra buttons for the rear slider or moonroof options but the homelink will work.  It is just a module that screws and plugs in to the overhead console.  You could order the homelink module and harness and then cut into you current overhead console, but that would require proper tools to cut the openings without making it look like crap.

Hello Gents,

And now.....the rest of the story.  I installed the Chamberlain mirror (with three button remote)  I ordered off of Amazon.  The center part of the mirror cover was a pain to get off but I managed to get it.  After that, the  only real problem was that the barrel/stem  that is attached to the new mirror is larger than the barrel/stem on the factory mirror.  Consequently, the contour slot on the center part of the mirror cover was too small to slide over it.  I had to use my Dremmel tool to make that opening big enough to  fit around the larger barrel.  All in all I am happy with the new setup and I like the fact that I can take the remote out of the mirror in case I need to leave my truck parked outside at night.  I’m not a trusting person, if you know what I mean.

Lastly, you should know that the battery for the remote is non-replaceable.  I’m okay with that because they claim that it should last around 10 years.  Chamberlain does sell just the remote if the battery ever does die, for about $65.00.  Here is the link to it on their website:  https://www.chamberlain.com/arq-universal-remote-control/p/TM110.
