I just ordered the 6112's and 5160's today. Will likely get these installed and increase to LT275/65R20 tires the last week of the year, if not early January. Looking forward to an improved ride and will report back!

Can you keep me updated on this? I was thinking about doing this or waiting for the eibach pro lift 2.0 that is coming out in a few months.

Please let us know how much lift you got with the duramax and what setting.

I absolutely will. I've been researching and debating options for far too long. Was going to go with King 2.5's but that would be probably a 4+ month wait right now. I HAD to do something about these bouncy shocks so the Bilstein's are a good compromise I believe.

Will post before/after pics and measurements as well as opinion on ride but like I said I probably won't do intall/tires for a few weeks. Merry christmas to me :)

Thanks appreciate it. I am in the same boat. I was debating getting kings or foxes but don’t necessarily wanna drop that much money at the moment with the economy kinda sketchy.

Those look good, post some pictures when you get them on. Thats the route I am thinking about but i am willing to go fox or king if these dont make much of an improvement like the other guy said.

Well these arrived extremely quickly and are very beefy! Still waiting on the rear block.

Looks good!  I'm 99.9% sure I want to go this route too.  Where did you order from?  They won't allow enough lift adjustment to level a Trailboss, so I'm just going to run them at the stock height setting with a ReadyLift leveling kit.

Are those rear's rebuildable?  If they were I'd went with those for sure, but didn't know about them at the time I got mine.

@JR09country I will sure give feedback on this thread. I am not expecting King/Fox 2.5 performance although that’s what I’d really like. I just can’t handle the bouncy floaty ride of these ranchos especially when I’m towing. I felt this was the quickest most reasonable solution without needing to replace UCA’s. 5100’s probably would suit me fine but I get bad cases of scope creep and think “why not” do a little better ?

@lapoolboy that sounds like a good strategy. I ordered these from bilsteinlifts.com last week and they came quick. The 5160’s included the upgraded billet reservoir bracket connector thingy which is great. I think these are normally like $40+ each or so.

@Grover67 I have read several places online that these are in fact rebuildable. I do not know that for sure though. Truth is I’ll probably be onto my next truck by the time these shocks go bad ?

I thought they were offering a specific one for the trailboss/ AT4 crowd? My assumption is its the same strut but with different notches for the height adjustment. Hmm

They do but they don't give enough lift to level the truck.  Needs 1.5-1.75" to level....they max at 1.2".

They need 2" to 2-1/4" to be level. I yanked the block on the rear of mine and it measured 2". That brought it down to nearly level. May have still needed 1/4" after that to be perfectly level. If your going to try to bring the front up to match the rear, plan on getting upper control arms.

Hi guys, first time posting on here.

Just traded in my 2015 Toyota Tacoma Supercharged with full Long travel suspension for a 2020 Silverado LTZ 6.2L, so obviously I'm used to a STIFF ride haha, but now I'm a little used to this stock ride.  I've tried ordering Fox's and King's from about 5 different places and everyone says they're out of stock and not gonna see any shocks for 3+ months (I get it, its race season).

My question is, I went from stock, to 5100s, to Fox bolts on, to LT with Kings, so whats the ride like on the 6112s (and 5160s in the rear?). I recall the 5100s being pretty stiff over stock TRD stuff back in the day, but that was on a 2WD with a V6. I'm still learning the coil weights and such with a full size truck.  I wanna say the 6112s were coming out right when I was installing LT so I never really gave them another look.

Right now I'm just looking to level out the truck. Debating on a $50 Maxracing 1.5" lift, or these. Eventually moving up to a BDS 4" or 6" lift with Fox and DSC and all that fun, But the wife wants me to finish paying off the truck before I drop the big bucks haha. (up for debate).  Right now I want to maintain a stockish ride or better. I don't mind stiff, as the LT truck basically didn't have suspension until about 50MPH or higher (it was STIFF haha).

Anyhoo, if anyones got experience going through different suspensions like that and can let me know how the 6112s ride, I'd appreciate it. I don't mind stiff, but I don't want to throw my back out out every time I go through a parking lot haha

Thanks.

No, they don't.  My stock Trailboss suspension was right at 1.5" low in front.  The 1-1/2" preload spacer got it leveled nicely.  I want to retain that level stance so I will run the Bils on stock height setting with the preload spacer to net the same lift I have now.

Interesting. I would expect them to be the exact same. Is yours a shortbed, or standard?

    • I have A 2020 1500 5.3 8 speed. LTZ. Transmission problems since 60,000 miles. Started when I go to store in morning to get my morning coffee before work leave truck running get back in put it in drive/ rev no movement step on gas a little slams into gear. Put in neutral step on gas little shake then put in gear and gose.  Shut truck off start .. ok now at stop light stop truck after a few seconds feel a little kick if that doesn’t happen stuck in 3/4 gear shut truck off wait few seconds and start usually ok again. If you down shift manually ok as long as you get into 1st before stop. If not it kicks . I WANT A NEW TRANSMISSION. Now I want a new truck it just hit 80,000 IDK IF ILL BUY CHEVY CAUSE THEY STILL HAVE THE PROBLEM AND REFUSE TO RECALL . Oh I’ve changed the fluid and filter 3 times now. And yes used mobile 1 not ac/delco cause it’s not meeting the requirements that mobile is did use ac/delco filter

    • I'm looking at carpal tunnel surgery on my left hand and lumbar fusion.
    • While waiting for parts I have been working on installing the AC compressor, new accumulator, and orifice tube. Also changed out the high side ball valve (original). The orifice tube that was in there wasn't too bad. Slightly dirty, a little bit of junk, but not blocked. Glad I changed it out.   The accumulator, which should have been a 5 minute job, may have just burned $50. Put some PAG in it, wrote the date and mileage on the side, fresh o-rings and gooey'd up the threads and rings with Nylog. Got everything connected and snugged and was going to vacuum down the system, and....   My manifold gauge won't fit on the port. It's not an R12 service port. It LOOKS like an R134 service port but the diameter is a hair too large. There's a sticker on the accumulator that says it's designed to be used with R12 and R134a systems only. So it's not R1234yf. Even if I reduced the diameter slightly with a file, the shoulder on the port is too large so the quick-connect valve won't lock on. I'm stumped. It's going back, and 50/50 on if they'll give me a refund.   Also, I did a fuel pressure test.... Key on, the gauge spikes to about 60psi and quickly bleeds off, like 2psi per second. The fuel isn't going into the plenum, no smell, starts fine, so I'm guessing there's a bad check valve in the pump and the fuel is just draining back into the tank. oh, hell. But, it shouldn't be a problem, pump primes just fine and the truck starts right up. It just means I can't really ever use fuel pressure to verify a leak at the injector or intake.
    • Got this yesterday out of nowhere. Truck is a 25',6.6 gasser with 8k miles.  Only semi anomaly is that the truck had been sitting, uncranked for 6 days. Elec Stability Control showed immediately upon cranking, not while driving. No drivability issues, just the message. Battery didn't seem to be weak when cranking over.  I drove it, killed it, let it sit a few hrs with no avail.  Truck is 100% stock. No damage.
