GM was listening cause it looks like a 12” screen is coming.  Super cruise. I really think we will see a really nice interior coming.  Here is also some more power updates  as well.

Getting excited now!

Good-bye column shifter.

I didn’t see it either ? Maybe they just shortened it up ? Anything but that long old stick is a plus. Although if they put the shifter on the center console area , I won’t be happy since it takes up so much space. But I really think GM took the interior not being up to date to heart.

I bet they have the dash buttons like the Yukon/Tahoe.

IMO that would be terrible.

The leaks for both the Silverado and Sierra seem to show no column shift.  Keep in mind, it was camo inside but still, didn't seem like there was one.

My guess is that the new interior with the large screen (12" ?) and pull button shifter will be on the higher trims at first, similar to RAM and their 12".  Lower trims will stick with the 8", similar to how the WT today only have the 7" now.  But who knows.  Eventually the 12" and pull button shifter will trickle down along with the 10-speed which is already making it's way down the line up.  Maybe they'll keep the column shifter for the WT only.

Or they do the 12" and with pull button shifter across the board sans the WT.

Pure guesses here.

Am I the only one that doesn't want a 12" screen?  Typically too much cabin light driving at night for one main reason

I'm happy I have a 2019. 12" inch screen and no column shift is already making me question ever buying a new one. The nail in the coffin tho is the new global B architecture these supposedly have. Everything is encrypted and locked down and already all the reports from C8 and Tahoe/Yukon issues is making me never want to own a newer gen GM vehicle. Sounds like they will be a nightmare to even get something simple like speedo calibration done when getting a lift and bigger tires

Welcome to 2020 brother, and I mean that with no disrespect to you but pretty soon everyone will move to this . A lot of car manufactures are already doing this.

On the screen sizes I'm confident GM will do the same thing as all others.  That's 12' ( or maybe 10") as an option and 8' standard . They just cannot afford to stay put given how competitive the market is right now .  Its exactly why you will also see a Adaptive Cruise option as well . Simply because Ford and Ram already have it .

The column shifter I have mixed feeling about . The current one is way too long and looks out of place . They needed to do something about it IMO. I was hoping they would have just shortened it up by 3-4 inches like MBZ does. But At the same time though I'm sure going to a similar set up like their SUV's  will be more cost efficient somehow. Having that large stick protrude out and cover a little big of the HVAC vents is just too old school.

I know there is a few people on here who absolutely love their 2019-2020 interiors and that's ok , nothing wrong with that.

You have to believe though GM heard all the gripes from editors/magazines/internet and even some of their owners that the interior was just lacking .

GM overall sales are still very good but at the same time Chevy Silverado sales directly compared to Ram have been very close. In some quarters the Ram actually beating Silverado . Now we know when you add both the GM twins they beat Ram and sometimes even Ford but I think the direct comparison sales between the Silverado and Ram really got Gm's attention.

This has never even happened to Silverado sales in their history and so this is why I personally believe the 2022 Twins will  be a game changer. I also have a feeling too GM will also up their Tow rating to around 14,100 just to out due Ford

( yes its completely asinine to tow that much in a Half ton , but I'm just sayin" )

They make too much of a profit on trucks to let them sit idle for too long.

Maybe we will finally be able to turn it down/off independent of the dash-gauge backlighting.

Good point , my cousins 2019 F150 is same way ..You cannot dim the Navigation screen ..So odd. but yeah hoping they make a option to also turn the screen down . ( seems like an easy no brainer right ?)

I would love a 12 foot screen .... or even the 8 foot - but not sure there is enough room inside the cabin for that :)

I hope the manufacturers come to some kind of gentleman’s agreement on half ton towing ratings...stuff is getting out of hand and I don’t want the ride and fuel economy to needlessly suffer anymore.

My ‘19 is already rated higher than my old Cummins Ram. But I didn’t buy it to tow 12k.

Every been in a garage with the lights on and tried to look at something in the dark outside?

Turn off the garage lights, the eyes adjust some, and the visibility outside the garage improves.

Same problem with dash and radio that is too bright.

Eyes adjust to the the inside level and that makes the headlights seem worse than they are.

Especially as the eyes get a little older.

Back in the day, the dash didn't have many light sources,  they weren't near as bright...and most of them could be turned completely off.

Hopefully the infotainment and cluster are OLED. That would mitigate any brightness concerns since the black background segments would be shut completely off. Kinda looks like it could be in the pics. Just not sure the cost is down enough for them to accomplish that. OLED televisions are still about 3-4x the cost.

    • Maybe, but it seems he is the only one that has backed up data to prove what he is stating. I think he is doing this more because he enjoys it and wants to get the information out to us. He's got the knowledge and access to the proper equipment and having the funds doesn't hurt.  I would love to do what he is doing and would do it if and when I hit the Powerball.  I'm not a Tribologist by any means but love to learn what I can.   I would bet there would be doubting people out there if a completely independent lab with high quality work and highly respected in the automotive industry, put out information like this.  The world can't be pleased, one just has to take the information that they are given, do more of their own research to find actual lab data to back up what they are trying to figure/find out.  Most don't bother, they just want to believe what they first see.     I don't have the minimax but my 6.2 in my 2019 Silverado with 64k miles shows excellent UOA results with 0w-20 and for my own purposes 5w-20.  Since not much of a change using 5w. I liked the data sheet information on the SS 5w-20 and figured I would give it a try.  Still the same viscosity at 100℃.   In the end we all just do what makes us happy, life is too short to get upset over trivial social media.   On a side note, I do feel GM has dropped the ball and just cares about the bottom dollar and not quality anymore.  "Like a Rock" has been long gone.  Seems "Built Ford Tough" has as well.
    • Better than stock but that's like putting lipstick on a pig
    • Hello, my 3 month old Sierra Elevation wont recognize a trailer with electric brakes? All the lights work correctly, but no power to the brakes?   This is the factory installed brake controller. If you manually push the knob, the display shows the power % but does not light up like my 2022 silverado.   I have an appointment with the dealer, but was checking to see if anyone else has seen this issue.    Thanks,
    • Been using SS 0w-20 from new, but wanted to change to the 5w-20 because I liked the data on the data sheet, to me it seems like a little better product. But as you can see, not much difference. This is also with running a mix of 10 gallons E85 to a tank topped with 93. It isn't a flex fuel vehicle so any higher I get a CEL for running lean on both banks. Yes my mileage takes a hit. Instead of 20 mpg I normally get on trips I get 17mpg. This is also using EaO17 filter.  What is amazing is I have the AMSOIL cone filter on it since I have the GM Performance intake installed and that air filter has 44k miles on it.  I just take it out and shop vac it off once a year.  I use the upholstery tool on my shop vac.  Works well.
    • So, lot's of googling and reading, and a trial fit found, that indeed they hit the newer fatter caliper. I did some re-testing today, and found just 3/16" worth of washers was enough for the wheel to spin freely. I added 2 more on each, and again it spun freely. Tested lock to lock with the 4 washers, about 5/16" not quite the 3/8" Im considering, but pretty close. No issues. I've been looking at the BORA .375" spacers and using extended lugnuts to get back lost thread due to the spacer. All the ET lugs I've seen are all .33" reach inside the wheel lug holes. For those that don't like spacers or think they're unsafe, I think it depends on what type of spacers you're using and making sure you get good quality hubcentric ones, and if you're using bolt on ones, regular mainenance, checking the spacer lugs. Not wanting or needing that much spread. Looking for the minimum that will let me run these rims and tires.  it does look to stick out a little, but I really want put these on. and use the stock all-terrains in the winter.
