Something tells me it has something to do with Money and it being cheaper! :)  Just a hunch!

Yeah, we know Mary...

Still have good reasons to be optimistic for 2022. Only thing I’m not sold on is any upcoming engine upgrades. Mary is all in on electric it seems.

Yes they are making a big push for Electric options but I think its still too early to move every option to electric . I don't think there are a big percentage of their people/sales who want that YET . But certainly you can see if coming , so you are correct for sure on that .

You guys still see the new bed step in that camo ? Hard to make out but man that would be awesome if it made its way to the half tons. GM has really got the easy bed access down

This was speculated in some previous spy shots, but from the past couple of rounds of pics, I don't see any side steps.

Like my current shifter. Drove a new tahoe and while i’m sure i would get used to the push/pull i still don't like it. My screen size is all i would ever want. One reason i would never own a Tesla. I have been inside of a couple rams and seen both screens. Prefer the smaller if the two. It just looks better and more proportionate to me but i am not a new tech kinda person either. I’m usually a few phones behind!! As far as the side bed step i completely understand how useful it could be for some but it is one of the ugliest things i have seen on a truck. I wish they just made it an option. I get that gm has to keep pushing and making changes to fit the social media reviewers but each year i like their products less and less. Hope my 19 lasts a long time!!!

I get it’s personal preference and I get that it’s easier to get in. But those side steps are so ugly on the HDs. That would officially make it so I wouldn’t upgrade to a 2022.

Before I retired I bought a new truck about every two years. I drove a lot of miles. It was exciting. Happiness now is finding a clean older favorite. Less tec is more for me. The only screen I worry about is the one I look out. It’s puzzling to me these big dash screens, why the fuss. My phone is my radio, music and navigation. I push a button and talk it’s done. Even with my 02 Avalanche and blue tooth speaker. Big center screen, no thanks.

If you are getting a basic or low option truck, you wouldnt be getting a large screen anyway.  The large screen would be with the "high end" stereo which includes Nav.

I would like the larger screen as it would give you a larger, easier to view screen when using split screen mode (ie: displaying Nav and Radio).  As it is now, the Nav map is mostly useless in split screen.

Well those steps are for people who actually use their truck, they aren't concerned about looks or their appearance at the local Starbucks... Never understood buying a truck based on how it looks, I have heard some petty reasons people say they wouldn't buy something over the years (LED tail lights was one of the worst). If it does everything you want and need for the right price from a brand that historically has done you well, why would you leave for them adding something useful for those real truck guys? They are already neutering them enough with the exuberant costs and all the fluffy tech and flashy gizmos that price those that need them for work out of them. Pool guys, yard guys, construction workers and so on already have a hard time affording a basic version of these because even the base models have to cover the costs of all the box checker models being sold to the image conscious dads.

While I agree with the idea of your post I want my truck to function for me and not look like crap.  I understand the bedside step is useful for some and some may like the look but some don’t. Make it an option not standard equipment. I have zero need for it and the idea of a 1 square foot black plastic hole doesn’t impress me. Plus it is one more spot for mud dirt and salt to collect. The tailgate provides the access i need.

I like a good radio/speakers and nav but absolutely do not want a larger screen. I agree they need to offer one and understand it is cheaper to package these options vs making them stand alone. I just hate the look and the brightness at night.

I hope they make it optional, part of a 'cargo box access package' or something like that. I personally think they are ugly as hell, and I do not want them on my truck. I have no problem getting into my bed with the current bumper steps and Multi-Pro tailgate, and I didn't have a problem getting into my K2 with just the bumper steps either. I do understand the desire to have them though, and hope GM does offer them, just please allow me to opt out. ?

Is it that hard to step on the tire? That’s what I do. I’m ok with function over form if it doesn’t make it look hideous.

I hate to admit it, but I've found that as you get older, and the tires get taller, it gets more difficult.

Back in the days when 235/75R15 = 28.9x9.3R15 was the optional 'bigger' tire size, and bedsides and floors were much lower, and I was 40 years younger - it wasn't an issue.

(they were about 28 or 29" tall)
