Forums are dominated by people looking for answers to issues, to complain or those who had a bad experience, are bitter and now want to just S*** all over the brand/model to make themselves feel better.

 

The minority are those who just want to talk shop on the vehicle they own, mods and actually enjoy ownership.

Nissan survives by financing anyone with a pulse and a 450 FICO. Shoot, forget the FICO. Our local dealer runs a radio ad that anyone with a paystub showing they bring home $250 a week is guaranteed financing with no credit check. And for up to 96 months haha. Crazy.

I am a Chevy guy, always have, but if I was to buy another truck it would be a Ram or Tundra.

Exactly ..Now we can sweeten it up by calling the F series the best seller but when it comes to TOTAL sales GM half ton/HD beats Ford .

I think there's a clear (backed up by this data) shift from Chevy to GMC with a lot of buyers. There is finally a very distinct stylistic difference between the two, plus the AT4 is a really popular truck around where I live. 

 

I was surprised to see the HD numbers post such an increase. I just do not see many of those around so far, and I think the styling on them is ... yikes. 

 

My prediction is Ford will stay relatively flat for 2021. Their new trucks are a nice improvement, but I saw one in person the other day finally... wow... I could barely tell it was a 2021 from the outside. SO boring for a big refresh to look just like the outgoing model. 

 

The new Powerboost is going to win over a lot of Ford owners, so many will upgrade. I don't see a lot of people ditching a RAM or GM for the Ford now, though. That's just my heavily worthless $0.02. 

Agree with many observations!  The GM twins are now.....well looking quite radical from previous generation.  Something everyone thought couldn't be done at GM and so they just called it ugly!  The amount of money to radically change the previous F-150 to this current model couldn't be done because of their AL platform.  Crease here/crease there that was a chance they took knowing it from get go A  platform...GM realized it very early to get what they needed with Nozzle's/Tips/Machines etc. to place AL where it needs to be while keeping "Money" to radically change the Model from Skins to Frame and...………………………………….

Here is the kicker!  They can utilize it all into the EV architecture.  GM for all it's shortcomings can and does have the ability to dominate and your probably going to see more EV makers disappear than proliferate because of GM in next few years.  GM will continue to increase market share on Full Size BOF's Trucks/Suvs using ICE and EV.  and that share will come from Ford/Fiat or whatever they are called currently?

Completely agree. When you look at the 2019 RAM, the 2019 T1s and the 2021 F-150, it's easily clear which of those three trucks underwent the most aggressive engineering changes - the GMs. 

 

This is why I finally ditched my 2007 GMT-900 for a new truck... because I felt that GM finally had a platform that was exhaustively engineered, tested and built for the long haul. Sure, they are not cosmetically perfect. But with the T1 trucks and the new SUVs, (not to mention the EVs), GM has really set the table to squeeze a lot of value and capability out of their current platforms.

Actually there have been a few years in between in which Ford beat the GM twins combined . Its been back and forth . Like last year when GM had about 800 and Ford had about 896k total.  In fact I actually think that in 2017,2018 and 2019 Ford outsold the Twins.

I understand the Tundra, but why the Ram? I'm genuinely curious.  Besides their interior, which I do like, what is it about them that is better?

2016 as well. Last time Silverado + Sierra outsold the F-Series was 2015.

Will be interesting 2021 as GM trucks are in last year before refresh and F150 is first year of new model year .  

Truck sales are super competitive as these manufactures know this is their lifeline .

I think this will work out fine for GM in the long run, even if some of 2021 is a slight struggle. 2019 was rough because they had to share the spotlight with the all new Ram and it’s killer interior.
 

If they forced a refresh out this model year, they’d have the same problem sharing the spotlight with the all new F150. 2022 seems like a good opening to steal some of Fords thunder, and get some positive press for once.
 

Haven’t heard of any substantial changes coming to the Ram for 2022 either so that’s good for GM too. Only real question is what the 2022 Tundra winds up like. Maybe it’ll be a contender.

Bottom line on the numbers is they are selling a ton on new trucks!   I love my 2020 AT4 and loved my 2014 6.2L Raptor before that.  No problems with AT4 - Raptor went 100,000 miles, 2 sets of tires, 1 set of brake pads and a bunch of oil changes - that truck was bullet proof!

 

Like to have a V8 or big diesel - so my next truck if half ton will be GM and if diesel will be GM or Ford.  Ram just doesn't do it for me, sans the TRX - now that I would buy if I could get one at MSRP!   Toyota would get my money if they step up with a modern truck, motor (V8) and tranny and all the luxury and amenities of the top 3 before I would consider them.  We had 3 Sequoia's (first two with TRD superchargers) and all three went 125,000 miles with virtually zero issues. 

 

We are living in a time of great products and we have lots of good choices - I have gone to leasing, so new truck every three years from now on - can't wait to see what I can get in 2023!

It's clear GM's strategy of creating sexy-looking trucks and offering generous discounts on first-year models paid off very well.

 

Some seem to think GM is better. I don't think refreshing the interior will help GM retain its spot though.

I don't expect it to last though. Ford will eventually come back, it always has.
