Being flashed even though low beams are on

How many other members here get flashed by other drivers because they think your high beams are on? 

I've driven past other new Silverado's and Sierra's with no issue. In both my truck and Camaro. 

I have been in front of a newer Silverado in stop and go traffic and with his lights on and at certain angles, parts of the light did look like it was the high beam but you could tell it wasn't. 

It's like every time I drive past another vehicle, my hand is on the stalk and waiting to flash the other driver back. I've had people do this to me in the Camaro and my ZX10 but it's like every night I drive the truck I have 2 or 3 people angrily flashing me and the get surprised by my actual brights.

yeah the trucks headlamps are aimed too high from the factory and the HIDs are too intense for drivers at night. get them re-aimed by your dealer. 

it's very annoying for your fellow drivers! the worse offenders are the guys who do level lifts or lift kits

It started happening to me around 2011 with the Genesis. I had them adjust the lights. These new headlights when going up a hill appear to be on highs. I noticed it on all vehicles. Usually when the running lights (fog) are on it means there’re on low beams. On two lane roads in any new vehicle I am prepared to flash, your gonna be hit with highs. You think people by now would have figured it out. It the design of the headlights.

This is a very easy fix, no need to take to your dealer. All you need is a screwdriver and 10 seconds of time to pop the hood and adjust your beams lower. I have to do this when I pull the trailer because the back end goes down and front end goes up - thus headlights point higher than they should.

 

Google how to do this and what the "proper" height should be, then you can compare to what yours are at. Essentially it's parking X feet away from your garage or a wall on flat land and measuring the height of your beams on said wall.  Then you can make adjustments to a lower height and have both sides even.

Mine took a very long screw driver. The dealer did it during an oil change for free. After I showed the mechanic how. Saving me the cost of a screwdriver I didn’t need. Still get flashed not as often.

Mine are aimed correctly so I have no problem giving someone an X-Ray when they decide to flash me. They should redirect their hostility at the jackasses who put LED or HID bulbs in halogen housings. Now that’s glare.

Done that and still get flashed.

 

What I wished was in the Silverado was in my 2013 Tundra. A knob to adjust the angle of the light in the truck and that was something on a base model Tundra. You'd think with all this advertisement GM did with the new Silverado about towing features that this would be in the truck. 

 

I just feel the need to go get a light bar and tie it in with my brights.....

Damn we have some real tough guy asholes in here hiding behind their brights. Geez, some of you sound like they are doing it to be an dick but they are literally just getting blinded by your lights, if you are stock that isn't on you just the angle. Give them a quick flash so they know and move on, no need to try and whip it out or one of you will come across a guy with a Vision X that will make you put it in the ditch. Straighten up guys...

 

If those of you are leveled and getting flashed that is on you for being a dick, I can only imagine how painful that much be for those elders with eye issues.

I'm thinking that would be false.

I just read in the local paper about an individual that was hunted down and beaten to death after a "road rage" incident. Not a good idea to just go through life yanking peoples chain.

I just give a quick flashback. Road rage has been a problem here, especially in Houston. Usually they hit the highs when it’s too late to respond, cowards. Like I said before it’s usually the design of the lights when going uphill. Most people are so on edge anything sets them off. Times we live in.

      What I think you're saying is there is supply here at home, and in Venezuela, and we could ease pricing if only it were favorable to do so.   Well, yes?   But that's not the current market. Supply isn't what could someday exist, if only, it's what producers are willing to produce and sell at a certain price point.   The national price of single family homes would come way down if we'd just slap together a few million homes this summer.   RAM and GPUs would get a lot cheaper if we just set up some factories to produce a bunch more and stopped using it to build out AI data centers.

      The turn signal/multifunction switch is faulty.  I've seen a few of these go bad at work.

      I am experiecing the same issue, I have gone in the setting and disabled rain sensing function but I am still experiencing this. Whe i use my turn signal they will redomly turn on. Sometime they stay on and others times we swipe 2 or 3 times and stop. Its super anoying, escpecially after a fresh wash.       If we actually used any significant amount of that source in the USA then I'd agree but we don't. We've had that discussion before. We drill and pump more than we use. Thing is, we sell. We export. Gas and Crude. It's more profitable so any shortage here is self inflicted and LEGAL.    I worked a gas plant that has multiple fuel sources available and I worked in the furnace and boiler plant in that facility. I'd had days we swapped fuel types four times in a twelve hour shift which isn't done on supply but on margin. Two of the fuel sources are internally generated. Tail gas and DAK, both of which are sold as well a consumed. We always had more than we needed to run the process but we chose the fuel that produced the best margin not bought at the cheapest price always. A good bit of math to that and back in the time that was done on a slide rule.     I worked the Shale Oil Semiworks of Chevron Research and CONOCO Research in Salt Lake City. That process never went into production although it was very successful. Why? Did we lack oil bearing shale? Nope. Price of crude never made the margins work. That was in the late 70's early 80's. Remember history? What was happening then was a reaction to that situation. It didn't drive it. If so then it's easy. This isn't a supply and demand thing. This is a profit and margin thing and AI rules that now.    In no refining situation that I was ever in would a bomb hitting a well anywhere in the world 'instantly' interrupt or even distress the supply. Most plants have more than a months worth of crude in the tank field and more in pumping stations. That yo-yo could play out over days, weeks and maybe months and have zero impact on plant operations. How many times has this been off and on in the last few months? These people and not stupid. These plants measure down time in hundreds of thousands of dollars per day. They are not sucking fumes or waiting on the next truckload with baited breath. Besides, as I noted, they are for the most part 'vertically integrated'. They own it from the dirt is sits in to the delivery rack and sometimes to the pump. It has a HUGE shock absorber built in. When production suffers, refining wins and when refining is winning exploration is killing. The rest of that crap in the news is a 'news cycle'. Government dipping in to reserves? Oil is stealing their milk money. There's a reason Chevron abandon Venezuela infrastructure and it had nothing to do with security of US citizens. Nationals run those plants. it has to do with MARGINS disappearing to corruption. They are in no hurry to return. Is there supply there? Oh yea. More than enough to offset what is bought in the middle east. Just isn't ???? Profitable.    We have supply. There are places in Illinois you can drive a pipe into the ground and run your homes natural gas furnace on it.    A refinery fire will gum up the supply works but not a localized war where the market is using a limited supply from. Now Europe, that's something other....
