Rear differential cover

Recommended Posts

I'm going to change fluids soon and want a new rear diff cover.

Banks? AFE? B&M? Is it G2?

What do we know about an aftermarket cover? Are they an improvement?

I've watched the Banks videos and he seems to know his shitttt on these but some disagree with him. I'm not even sure if they make one for a half ton.

Let me know what you think

Personally anyone who would disagree with their own eyes has issues. Gale doesn't tell you, he shows you. Look and learn.

IF Banks doesn't make one for your application PML has one that will honor the science. The one with the vertical fins. Round not flat.

I had to change mine. The OE drain plug hit the diff when I had a truetrac put in. B&M offers the rounded design Banks talks about and a little more fluid capacity. Also the magnet to catch debris is at the bottom instead of on the fill plug at the top on the OE cover.

I have lots of miles on stock covers with no issues. Just change the fluids as I always say.

Save your money.

But if it makes you happy to see a custom cover, go for it.

PML Cover. It has the curved back for the Ring gear, like the "Banks" video shows. I was looking at the G2 cover first, but the rear of the cover is flat. Easy drain, easy fill. Just my 2 cents.

Like the look of the PML. I installed a B&M on mine a few years back. Might be a fancy drain feature, might get me to 1mil mile mark. I don't really care which, I just like goofing around with my truck. 😉
