Hey everyone. Say I'm just looking for insight or advice to weather or not this is common on these trucks or not. When I've been pulling 2 SxS on an 22 ft trailer with equipment roughly 5500-6000lbs total running highway speeds and getting into some rolling hills and rpms come up a little like dropping 1 or 2 gears in the 10spd trans I've noticed my coolant Guage going up to what I would say is 230. Now my old silverado never budged past 210. Not sure if these gauges are more accurate or if yall think I have a cooling problem. According to my build I have the HD cooling. And honestly it hasn't been that warm out either, I just figure I'm only 2/3 to the capacity of the truck and I wouldn't expect it rising like that.Any input would be grateful.

Looks like 222.5 degrees to me on the guage. I'm guessing it's ok and normal operation. But we can see what others say.

To me that shouldn't happen.  Now if it was 98°F out maybe but something seems off.  What is your transmission temp?  If your engine temp is that high your transmission temp will be high as well I would think.

I've got a 2021 High Country 6.2 and the normal running temp is a bump or two past 210.  I don't like it, but it's read that since I picked it up in February.  My 2019 LTZ 5.3 was like 190 with the digital gauge (technology package on both LTZ and High Country), when everyone else reads 210.  There was a thread about it long ago somewhere on here.  Not towing, just normal driving.

Trans temp was in the area of 170 and 180 when this happened the few times.

That is completely normal. How long does the coolant temp stay at the high range before dropping back to normal?

Seems fine. I've seen my 2016 get to 230 degrees many times when putting it to use. The stock thermostat is 207 degrees and the high speed fan doesn't even kick on until like 228-230 degrees.

Usually it'll come back down to "normal" "210" within a min or two after we get back to a steady lower rpm and arnt pulling a grade or running 3000rpm under higher load.

I tow a trailer that is anywhere from 7-8k depending on what's in it and in the summer I will see my temps creep up a little if I'm really in it for a bit going up hills. I have to be really into it for a bit though for the temps to want to climb, and as soon I'm back to cruising it cools down quickly. Just my experience compared to yours. The fact that you said it cooled down fairly quickly once you were out of the hills leads me to believe the motor was working pretty hard for a bit and then cooled down once cruising again. I'm not sure if you were in tow/haul mode but I the manual says when in this mode it enhances cooling. Not sure how as I've never looked into it, but the manual mentions something about it.
