I’ve had my truck for 7 months now and this spot on the gm seems to collect a lot of salt film.  I constantly wash it but it always seems to have a haze. The paint is not chipped or worn. So why does it still have a haze after washing 5F583B04-AA03-4AD9-B3E4-175505D1C012.thumb.jpeg.daa2c8b9207c8e316b1d74aabea53f32.jpegBFEDD642-52E1-4BB8-97AB-EE22222E755C.thumb.jpeg.457a2acb0471240433c15ac7a593c3bc.jpeg

In that spot there is a vinyl protective sheet there you can feal it with your finger, mine will do the same thing but I just hit it with carnauba wax twice a tear and never had a problem with it hazing over.

Imo GM paint isn't bad per say, but it's definitely not what I would call good paint. For me, I hit the truck with a clay bar at least once a year. Waxing at least twice a year is a must if you want to avoid the clean, but doesn't look clean scenario.

Depends on what kind road conditions you see too.

Yes, it is very bad...it seems to be much thinner and more brittle than my previous GM's...it stone chips and scratches way to easy.

I sold my Brownstone Metallic 2015 Silverado built at  Flint with 54,000 miles and 5 years old. The best factory paint job I have ever had, no rock chips or paint failures. I now have a Silver Ice 2021 Silverado built in Mexico, 15 months old, 8000 miles, same thing.  I had never had a major issue with GM paint in over 50 years of owning  GM cars and trucks. I did see white paint on GM trucks fail on a few company trucks in the 90's

I sold a 2008 Avalanche with almost zero paint issues after 160k miles, have rock chips (not even rocks, it is bugs I believe...vehicle has never seen a dirt road) almost immediately....and getting bad at 20k miles...running exactly same roads that the 160k the avalanche did....also, seems to scratch very easy.

If it makes you feel any better my girlfriend's 2017 Toyota Corolla genuinely has the worst paint of any car I've ever come across.

The clear coat has already disintegrated in one weird strange spot by the door and all over the car are big chips out of the paint. I really don't know how that happened but it is just awful

My white 17 Camry paint isn’t the best I’ve seen. I did get a letter from Toyota if the clear coat fails they’ll repaint. I’d check with the dealer to see if that one is included.

EPA mandates for less VOC's = poor paint quality. 😉

I wonder if they account for people having to re-paint their vehicles

When they mandated "low flush" toilets, I guess it didn't matter that it had to be flushed 15 times to send the poo on it's way.  😂
