Posting on this 2019-2021 section as I did not see one for 2022.

So, we all know these features are not available due to the chip shortage blah, blah, blah. Yet some of us have purchased the truck from Chevrolet or will purchase one regardless.

My question is does anyone know what part exactly is needed to enable the rear and front parking sensors, heated and ventilated seats.

my truck has the buttons but they obviously dont work.

is it possible to buy the chip or whatever part off ebay or from  a vendor?

I hope the whooping credit of $50 I received for each feature is enough to cover the purchase.

No, you can't do the install yourself or chips or programming. Everything is locked down with newer vehicles like this. They have to authorize the change if your vehicle is part of the program for retrofitting the option at a later date.

When I was looking at trucks a few weeks ago I must have looked at at least 50 window stickers.

I was looking at LTZs and High Countrys only.

3/4 of the stickers looked just like his. Credits for missing chips.

I made sure both my new trucks had all chips on board because who knows when the retrofits will start. With the chip shortage it could be a year for all we know.

I recently wrote a letter to the CEO of General Motors Because no one has a clue what’s going on I called GM customer service and they referred me to the dealer the dealer referred me to GM and on and on I went. Well 2 weeks ago to my surprise I got a response from the CEO’s office and here was the response the chips for retrofit should start rolling out my concern was I have everything heated wheel heated seats etc. but do not have rear park assist even though the sensors are in the bumper with that said I was told by the end of the year I would have the chip. GM is sending out letters to everyone who needs chips if your truck was built or your car was built with the items then you will receive a letter when the feature can be activated.

We just purchased a 2022 Silverado 2500HD High Country. I built it online and received an allocation for the build in April. When we picked it up, we realized the park assist button didn't work and the sales guy told me we didn't have that option. Nor did we have the Automatic Emergency breaking. Said it didn't come with our package. Yes it did, I made sure of it, I got the High Country Deluxe package, it came with everything. We paid for upgrade rims and tires and the dark essential package and were told that GM would send it all separately. He then waited and told me it was all backordered. He should've told me that before. The crash alert works some times but not all the time, but it never does the auto braking and the park assist doesn't work at all. When in reverse the alert for an oncoming car works. Our heated / cooled seats and steering wheel works. Why would some of it work sometimes but not all the time? And why wouldn't the park assist feature be listed in the settings on the screen?

Can someone explain what exactly is the front and rear park assist alert does? is this for "beeping" you get when straight line forward and reserve obstacles?    I have a 2022 Refresh that also has the $50 credit for this. However, I don't know exactly what it does. I have the button, but it does nothing. All the camera work fine.. I get the  "beeping" in reserve, but I think that is only the side alert.

If you have the $50 credit, it means you don’t have it lol so it makes sense that the button does nothing.

Front and rear park assist alerts you when you’re getting close to an object while parking. Nothing to do with cameras.

You should get beeping and an image in the gauge cluster that shows you how close you are to the object. If equipped, the safety alert seat will also vibrate.

Since your truck is a refreshed RST, it will only have rear park assist. Front park assist is only on LTZ and High Country now (SLT, AT4, and Denali for Sierras).

ok, so it's mainly just the beeping.. which is annoying as hell ....used to always turn off everytime in my 2019.  Another question.. will/does my forward collision still work?  It is checked in the screen... I assume this will auto brake when I get close to something?

It should unless there's a "not equipped with X - Credit $******" on the window sticker for it. The forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking do not utilize the parking sensors, they use the same camera (located at the top of the windshield - rear view mirror area) as the lane keep assist.

I have a 2022 High Country, missing front and rear park assist that will be retrofitted later. Forward collision alert still works as it uses the camera mounted behind the windshield, at the rear view mirror and not the parking sensors on the bumper. It has activated for me so I know it’s working. I haven’t tested the automatic emergency braking (don’t plan to) but presumably it works too since it’s all the same system and has nothing to do with the parking sensors.

Park assist really is only an alert when you’re parking the vehicle. I don’t believe it will brake for you and is not supposed to, this is different than auto braking to avoid rear ending someone.

Currently, When I’m parking behind a car or up against another object, I just activate the front camera. Park assist will just remove that manual step and tell you when you’re getting close.
