I have a 2022 4WD Silverado that I am fixing to do the first oil change on and I need to know if I have to put the transfer case into neutral to roll it off the ramps?

The truck is too tall to reach the oil filler until I back it off the ramps...on my 2WD 2016 I just turn the ignition to accessory then put the shifter in neutral and roll off.....can I do that in the 4WD or will I need to put the transfer case in neutral as well?

Thanks!

Do it the same way as before, nothing is different than before in this case.

If you have the electronic shifter your not going to be able to shift into neutral without starting the truck.

I have not tried this, but this is the video I watched that shows them putting it in accessory mode and changing it.

Sounds like you need lower ramps and/or shallower pan to catch the oil

I can't get to the oil plug without the ramps or I wouldn't use them at all....would be a lot simpler without them.

The oil cap is really far back on the new truck, it is a long reach even without it being on ramps.

Fun fact.  If you have regular 4x4 and not Z71, you have the single speed transfer case which does not have a neutral position.  Just 2HI, 4HI and 4AUTO.

Being you've got a RCSB, it is possible to have ordered the 2 speed case, but not sure if you did or not.  Otherwise they are just a single speed case, no neutral.

That's me!

This is the first time I have ever had a 4X4 and it wasn't a Z71.

Reckon I don't have to worry about neutral...lol

Thanks!!

Why not just lay on something to elevate you so you can remove the oil filter?

I can get the oil filter off easy enough, but the oil plug is almost in the center of the truck and I don't have enough clearance to reach it without raising the truck some.

I removed the lower bumper valance on my 12. No lifting to get under it for oil changes.

No I meant the actual transmission. Not the transfer case. But that would be for the new body style console shifter.
