Getting ready to tag a 2500HD Ultimate that's in transit that has a snowplow package. Will this result in a stiffer ride? I really have no plans of using a snowplow but, all of the Ultimates that's being shipped to dealers in my area seems to have this option. I know I can order but, I've been told the orders are taking up to a couple month's or more. If anyone knows and/or has driven one with/without this package, I would sincerely appreciate what your thoughts are on the ride. Thanks. Ray

Both my 2021 and 2024 3500HD Silverados were ordered with the "camper front springs" which I am told are the same as the ones in the plow prep package. I dont think the truck rides harsh but I havent driven one without them either. This 3500 rides better than some of the 1/2 tons I drove back in the 70's and early 80's. Everything is relative.

My truck has it and camper pack and I don’t mind the ride at all. It’s super smooth on smooth roads but will have you a bit on crap roads. I haven’t driven a 2020+ hd besides mine though.

mine also has 18” wheels with proper truck sidewall too though which are going to ride better than the gangster 20’s on the luxury trucks now days.

Camper springs are mid weight springs on some cabs, identical to VYU on others.

What's with the dealers there ordering fleets of $95k plow trucks?  lol

I'd love to know the percentage of Denali Ultimates that end up serving plow duty.

Any time you get a stiffer spring the ride will be rougher... But like what has been mentioned above this will ride better than a 1976 K10.. Again it will not be as smooth as T1 4x4

I have a 2020 withe the snowplow prep package and my son has a 2016 w/o it. I think his has a more comfortable ride, but his is the LTZ and mine is the WT. I figure that could play into that. I would never put a snowplow on it. Just came with the truck.

With the 3500 chassis pulling a 36ft mid profile 5th wheel I really didnt need the extra capacity on the front axle but for the small cost for the upgrade I always go for more capacity.

On 4wd diesels crew cabs, the snow plow prep is just one torsion bar higher.  On gas trucks, you could be two or torsion bar sizes higher for snow plow.

Thanks for sharing your experience..... I totally agree, the suspension on todays trucks are a day & night difference from back then. Thanks again, appreciate it. Ray 👍

Thanks...... Good to know the differences between surfaces. I live in Michigan which has some of the worst roads in the country. My 2018 2500HD Denali handles them fairly well here and great on smooth roads as well. With that being said, anything stiffer would certainly conpromise the ride. Thanks again, appreciate it. Ray 👍

Thanks.... I hear ya! It doesn't make sense to me either. It's hard to believe that the majority of customers for these Ultimates would want this package. I.M.O., it's an awesome truck for both hauling and overall cross country comfort. Especially, if it's your only vehicle. On the other hand, I'm sure there are some that would like it for personal occasional use.   Thanks again. Ray

Thanks....Well stated. I have also heard that there is a heavier duty torsion bar that's part of this package. For sure, todays trucks are pretty amazing in comparison to the older one's in every way. Thanks again. Ray 👍
