My first 2019 WT was built in Mexico but never had any issues for 3 years until totaled by accident. The current 2022 LTD LT built in the US (VIN starting with 1) has had numerous little issues...

Resurrecting this topic as I'm a new owner (purchased 2 weeks ago) of a 2024 Silverado 1500 WT CCSB 2.7 2wd (basic truck). It was assembled in Silao. Overall body and interior fit and finish is good, a little better in fact than my previous '18 F150 XLT extended cab built in Kansas City.

 

I looked at both left-over '23s and newer '24 WT's and Customs in LA and TX. I was originally under the assumption that all of GM's 2.7 L3B's were built/assembled at Spring Hill TN plant. I found it a bit strange that all the '23s with 2.7's showed USA as country of origin for the engine on the window sticker. All the '24s showed Mexico as country of origin for the engine.

Congrats on the new truck! I haven’t had any issues with my 7mo old Silao Sierra 1500 5.3 4x4 but it only has 2,000 miles. My buddy on the other hand, has had major issues with his Rochester made truck. Both mine and his trucks are 2023 models purchased the same month. His is loaded with most every option, including the 6.2, which Locked-up on the interstate at 12,000 miles. The GMC dealer had to replace the engine. They found spun bearings and tons of metal shavings. DFM has me more concerned than anything but that’s another story. Hopefully the 5.3 serves me well. It sure is a pleasure to drive.

I have a 2020 Silverado 5.3 with 120k+ miles that came from the Mexico plant.  It just keeps going.

I’m convinced the Mexico trucks are every bit as good. Check your sticker though. Just because the truck was MIM doesn’t mean the engine and transmission was from that facility.  My transmission is USA with the truck and engine being Mexico

Well My 2014 and 2016 were US built extended cabs no real build issues. My 2018 Crew Cab was from Mexico. I had both the Tailgate pins fall out only finger tight.

 

Then a screw in the overhead console fell out and started to bounce around.

 

So when I just crawled around under it and in it tightened so may things I lost count. So not sure it must have been a Friday truck lol.  But it ran real reliable.

Just traded in my 2019 Trail boss LT 5.3 Ft. Wayne built due to so many issues and trips to the dealer for repair, only 55K easy miles on it and I was through with it. Just bought a 2025 Trail boss LT with the 6.2 and noticed it was Mexico built, fingers crossed. 3 days in loving it! I'll check back in in 3 years and give you a better review.

Feedback is greatly appreciated. Please list the problems you had with your truck, especially with the 5.3 engine! 

 

I started this thread 1.5 years ago. I’ve had zero issues with my Mexican GMC truck. I only have 5,000 miles on the truck but it’s been completely uneventful.
Garage keep. Only gets driven on nice days and occasional short road tips. It’s only been off road twice. Once it was a big grassy hill in Arkansas while pulling a jon boat. The 2nd off road experience was a sandy hill in southern Alabama. Both times I was pleasantly impressed with it’s capabilities. 
I changed the oil myself at 3,500 miles. 

Hopefully the good times last.

I am currently driving  my 3rd Silao Mexico built truck. 2021, 2023 and 2025 all Trail Bosses. All have been excellent trucks with very good build quality. Anyone can get a defective build from any factory. Mistakes happen but I have been very satisfied with Mexican manufactured Silverado's.

      Because single shot injectors are ancient and multi hole injectors provide smoother running engines and sharper throttle response due to the fuel being atomized better..the best lead I have is a 24lb blue top injector almost everything matches up but the injector will put out about 26lb/hr which is just outside the gm threshold.figured id ask here to see if there was an absolute answer

      Why is my question?   Any change in injectors requires a tune. Unless you are going back with the OEM part number or a newer part number of that same injector.   Any size difference or type difference like the EV6 style injectors all have different injector data for them. And there is no EV6 injector that matches the factory 25 lb/hr size that your truck comes with. I've been messing with these trucks and tuning them for a long time and what you trying to do doesn't exactly make sense to me.

      My 6.6 gas lt8 had lifter noise with 28000 miles bought new 2026 and while driven to dealer it threw #1 rod bearing “HD my ass” good luck with yours i hope it don’t turn a rod bearing!

      Thought it was raining this morning when we woke. Nope. Dew point was over 80 F and humidity 98%. Zero visibility distance. Everything was 'sweating'. I've seen rain come out of clouds but never out of Pepper or the tree trunks.    Wicked storms just missed us sliding off to the east but by blocks. Heat index about 110 F with air temp in the 90's.    This is  our third wave this month of multiple days of this type of weather. And yet the grass is going dormant and the ground is cracking this side of the street and water up the the hood opposite. Just weird stuff going on.
