When I had 5 vehicles effected with the wiper motor circuit board fiasco in the 90's, it was an orange colored postcard.

I'd rather them send me a switch than have some rando paw apart my truck. Funny they are just replacing the switch instead of issuing a new top tailgate trim WITHOUT holes in it. They probably weather"proofed" the new switch by melting rubber or wax or something over the exposed switch leads. Water will still drain on to it, but now it won't matter so much? Dunno.

Siliconed my holes closed right after getting my truck. Logically couldn’t see a reason to allow water to drain into tailgate. Still holding strong today.

I just put my VIN # in and it said no recalls. I wonder if their database has been updated or there are trucks that will not be affected by it. Is anyone else seeing that their truck is part of this recall when checking online?

I too checked my VIN on the Chevy site and it showed “no recall” so I’ll check again in a few weeks. My gate has not malfunctioned yet.

Checked GM website and my VIN did not list any recalls. I have not received a letter/postcard. My gate has not malfunctioned, but I do not live in a typically wet area (well, it is raining now and is supposed to for the next 4 days!). My truck is garaged and is driven as a second vehicle, so not many miles of use.

NHTSA email came today. My gate holes have been siliconed for two years and the gate works fine. Not taking my truck in to get grease stains on the seat for this.

LOL, it's not so much the grease stains that I worry about, it's that they move my seat.....I don't have memory seats and I want to kill them all for doing it...lol..It will take me a couple of days, if not more to get it back to where I like it. They should never move someone's seat....lol..

Mine never gets moved but I know this truck is one of the only vehicles I haven’t needed the seat all the way back. It’s like two small notches from the back. And for me the angle is easy to find. If it had the pump up seat feature that would be hard to get where I’d want it.

I have the 10 way power seat option on mine but no memory...It drives me nuts when I take it in for an oil change and someone thought it would be a good idea to mess with my settings while just driving it into the bay...I'm 6 1 for goodness sakes......why they have to adjust my seat for their liking is beyond me. My wife is a little squirt and if I have to move her Explorer I just fold myself up and move it to wherever. I think I'm going to put a piece of paper on my steering wheel next time that says if you touch my seat adjustments, just go ahead and give your body and soul to Jesus.....lol....

I wasn't sure where the holes are for letting water in the tailgate until I read a detailed post here. The holes in the tailgate handle are covered by the lip of the rear door on the ARE cap on my truck. If it's not a water leak issue, I still wonder if the tailgate would open with the rear cap door latched.

If it is a water leak issue, why not just put a piece of duct tape over the holes instead silicone in the holes.

On my last 3 trucks, I had the power seat all of the way back to drive. My 24 AT4 HD is the first truck that I do not have to have the seat all of the way back. It does have memory and have it set up for me and my GF. Also have it set for all of the way back for entry and exit.

You think duck tape would work and look better than silicone? Not even close. For the same reason you don’t see duck tape holding glass aquariums together sir lol.

you can’t even notice the tiny flush dabs of silicone in those little holes

I don’t plan on using silicone or duct tape, it was just a thought. I covered the two holes with a $3k ARE cap!

If I notice any water dripping in the holes with the cap door open, I’ll silicone it.
