As far as someone putting the wrong atf in your vehicle. That’s very un Grumpy like.

I was 19 and ill informed. Not born perfect. Still haven't achieved it.

Not the oils fault it’s the changes in the engine.

No not the oils' fault. OEM's fault. They spec the oil, and they spec the build. They are in a habit now that true research is dead of using focus groups, government agency and ignorance from educated people whose moral compass is broken and are using the public to be the test mules and on our dime as a substitute.

These ring coatings are at best experimental, and failure is early and frequent. But boy are they low drag. Because building more cars is less carbon than building one car RIGHT. Yes, sarcasm.

Advertising used to tell you allot about power train and the rest of the vehicles features in broad strokes. Now connectivity and comfort have erased most mention of the powertrain. You can't even get a truthful answer from the sales staff. They are ignorant. Service department has no clue what the details are until they get a TSB explaining how to sidestep an engineering defect in a way the pulls wool over the consumers eyes. It is truly hateful.

Sales has never been able to give truthful answers. Their motivation has always been to provide "whatever information will close the deal", facts be damned.

Service departments no longer troubleshoot. Bring them a problem, and they look for a code. No code? No problem. If there is a code, they look for a related TSB. No TSB? No problem. This is exactly what I ran into a month ago when I brough my truck in to have 18 different, specific complaints looked at. They fixed nothing... even the things they claimed they fixed, they didn't fix.

The only two items that were actually addressed were panel gap problems handled by the body shop. I specifically told them to set my tire air pressure correctly as it hadn't been right since day one. I even showed them the OnStar email that was sent at the time of delivery showing the tires were set too low. The returned the truck with the pressures not set consistent to each other, still too low all around, and the work order stated that the pressure had fallen due to low temps and that it was basically "my fault" for not monitoring / adjusting. I was outright pissed and made them change the wording on the work order after a debate with the service manager about it.

Both of my front windows has residue from a suction cup used during assembly. Body shop manager (who I know) told me he knew about it, knew how to address it. They returned it with the work order stating "cleaned windows" and they stated that they used SprayWay cleaner. I took them outside and showed them that the problem was still there and they did NOTHING with their half-assed attempt. Made them actually put it through the body shop manager's hands to clean it correctly.

I complained about specific defects, including where THEY had cut me floor mats. They indicated "compared to other vehicles on the lot with the same trim, no problem found." As long as they break them all the same, they'll all be the same. Sigh. Another defect I specifically took the time to show to the shop foreman when I dropped it off. They never addressed it. Same bogus issue as above and now I have to bring the truck back AGAIN after they finally ordered the damned part.

$56k buys you nothing but headaches and arguments now.

I kid you not. I read every word of this. :)

Sad, right? Grownups acting like a five-year-old in need of a trip to the woodshed.

No wonder kids don't want to drive.

it's in their best interest to not fix the problem. They bill GM for work they never actually do and you'll be back to get it looked at again on GM's dime. They're getting like the government and insurance claims - deny 'tlll they die... Keep saying no until you give up and go away.

I had used to pay around $90-100 after a coupon until found a large spill on the engine cover (dealer didn’t clean it) when I opened the hood later as well as failed the first state inspection at a local shop because of the corroded rear brake rotors which had never been mentioned by my dealer when they had done 3-4 oil changes with tire rotations prior (dealer replaced them after I complained a lot). Since then I have been changing oil & filter with tire rotation by myself.

I just got my first oil change at local GMC dealership.  It was free so I can't complain but otherwise it would be $89 plus tax.  And it took an hour and a half even though I had an appointment.  Don't see myself doing that again.  They did wash the truck though which was nice considering it was pretty messy from the snow and salt.

    • We have now!  2027 GMC Sierra  Early look, but I'm a GMC guy and so far I think I like the looks of the Chevy better.
    • HD at the moment, are kinda their own deal.  How LTZ sells on those vs on 1500, there is a difference.   They are merging most of the mid trims on 1500.  LT, RST and LTZ are replaced by one trim, Silverado.  LT and RST are a BIG portion of sales.    Bad naming choice aside, the new Silverado trim will offer the spread of options that those three trims offered.  So expect to see things like the tech package for example, and memory seats.  And LT Trail Boss will now just be "Trail Boss" (formerly LT Trail Boss) but will offer content spread like the new Silverado trim will.  The press photos showed the Trail Boss (formerly LT Trail Boss) has access to Super Cruise now, which on the current truck was High Country only.       Here is the Trail Boss interior.  Memory seats and Super Cruise are present.  All things the LT Trail Boss it replaces, and the RST it was based on didn't get on the current gen.  You had to go to LTZ or ZR2 for memory seats, and High Country for Super Cruise.
    • I installed a Hellwig rear sway bar on my 21 Sierra SLT, it made a huge difference on how the truck handles, no body roll, the trucks much more planted now. Not sure of the suspension differences between the 21 and 26,  if its body roll your having a sway bar will solve it.
    • So a follow up and my fix. I found in online searches the live data to look at on a scan tool to verify the fuel tank pressure sensor was working.  It showed an spec number towards the lower end of the rang, but in spec.  Then while it was running opened the gas cap and the pressure should change.  It didn't change even a tiny bit.  The data for the purge valve said it was open...never changed. So then I measured the voltages on the plug for the fuel pressure sensor and they matched what it should be.  So local car quest parts had the sensor in stock...it was a bit of a pain to remove and an even bigger one to get it to actually go back in.  It helped to unbolt the driveshaft and bungie cord away from the gas tank to give a bit more room to work. So fuel tank pressure sensor in I cleared the code, and started it up.  I went to the scan tool's live data and... Eureka! The pressure number was different and fluctuated a bit.  So took it on a short drive and pressure number varied saw the purge valve go from closed to open and back to closed.  Drove it to and from work for roughly a week plugged in the scan tool no codes.  I took it in to get tested and passed.  In my state's infinite wisdom (oops meant greed), since I pushed the test with the maximum extensions I have to take it back in by Feb '27 to 'get it back up to date', then my next test won't be until Feb '29.
