I just got a 2022 Sierra 1500 sle with 25000 miles on it and I’m honestly really disappointed. The new interior looks great but I’ve already had issues. The radio sounds blown sometimes and crackles and then is fine next time I get in. But the speakers suck. They’re worse than my 2006 was and far worse than my 2019 gmc (not Bose) I have to have my radio turned all the way up to enjoy my music. And then it cuts out and the volume gets quiet on me and comes back like I got a notification. But does it with the fm stereo too. The 2.7l engine I got thinking it was gonna be better on gas. It’s horrible I have to crawl to get decent gas mileage and doing 70- 80 on the highway I’m averaging 16mpg super disappointed can’t get over 23 in town babying it. My 5.3 I could get around 28mpg at times. Overall just feel like I paid way too much for some cosmetics. Reverse camera cuts out on me. Already had to have brakes changed. There’s an annoying whistling noise when my windows down. Like come on Gm do better. There should be a recall on these radios. I’ve owned Chevy and gmcs my whole life and this makes me wanna lean towards tundra dodge or ford.

previous owner might not have been good with brakes, i got 55k miles on my first set. don't know why you are getting such bad fuel mileage, i have to pulling my 5 ton trailer to get my 2.7 down to 16 mpg. most of your issues other people have had and some have been resolved others not. you still have warranty , so let GM solve your issues, could be why the previous owner got rid of the truck or maybe it was a rental. go to the dealer and try and get your issues resolved, if it doesn't get fixed then come back and ******

I have a '22 LTZ Z71 refresh and have had zero issues so far. No rattles, noise etc. I love it.

Did you drive the truck before you bought it? This truck probably got beat on its whole life. Sounds like you bought a piece of junk the previous owner tore up or hacked. It's a chance you take when you buy used. Did you get a vehicle history report when you bought it?

I agree. Sorry to say but I think you got a dud. Your best chance would be to have the dealership fix it or dump it. I absolutely would not buy a used truck.

- If you have a new style 2022 so refresh, the radio needs an update.  It will fix the random nuts radio static/volume.

 

- Fuel economy.  Your results may vary.  Stop doing 70-80mph everywhere.  A 5.3 gets $hit mileage at those speeds too.  I have a 2.7 HO, it has so far in 19,000mi averaged 3-4 mpg better than my 2018 5.3 in the winter and summer.  I would get 13-15mpg in the 5.3 in the winter and 16-18mpg in the summer, and with the 2.7 HO get 17-19mpg in the winter, 19-22mpg in the summer.  These are all from hand calculated tank fill ups and trip data for the fuel fill, not using any of the instant readout.  Best trip MPG with the 2.7 was 26.9mpg, with the 5.3 was 22.5mpg.  

 

- Brakes.  If you are in the salt belt, I'm not surprised.  We've changed a bunch on brakes on these trucks.

I came from an ecoboost. I thought the 3.5l would get much better fuel economy but I soon realized with the 3.73 rear end and that motor it just sucked fuel on the highway. I would get 16 on a good day.

 

Can you take the truck back? Some places have 30 day returns.

SO many people need to take this advice.  I cannot believe how many times I find myself watching a 2500 blow past me on the highway when i'm already doing 85mph (in my CTS, I don't drive that fast in my Silverado).  That's so insanely stupid - you put so much wear and tear on the truck, you absolutely annihilate fuel mileage, and you make yourself a danger to everyone around you.  If you want to go fast, get a fast car.  If you own a truck, drive it like a truck

 

My self-imposed highway speed limit is 70mph in the Silverado.  I picked that because that seems to be the point at which decent fuel mileage disappears and becomes fuel-chugging instead.  That's a great indicator that my truck is happiest below 70mph.  That's not to say that I absolutely will never exceed that speed...I will do it for passing and other short-lived scenarios...but otherwise I get up to 70mph, and just hang out in the right lane for the duration of the ride.

 

As a result I see 19mpg consistently on the highway and 17-18mpg in town with my 5.3l.  That's with 35's and a 200lb steel bumper (and absolutely no aero).  In stock form I got 19mpg around town and 22mpg highway.

What wear and tear? Certainly nothing more than putting a trailer behind it.

 

Poor driving is what makes a danger to others - has absolutely nothing to do with the vehicle.

Running in the boost 90% of the time will get you worse mileage than the 6.2 imo. This is why i think turbo motors are #@#@ in a 4x4 truck.

100% agree when you add more boost it has to add more fuel to equal boost intake for fuel to air ratio.

Well in America it is a last freedom to drive as fast as you can afford in your Ferrari or your Silverado...............and quite frankly when I bought a full sized pickup with a 6.2 liter engine, I never even considered MPG.

However after we got an idiot living on Pennsylvania Ave I did cringe a few times when paying $5.50 a gallon.

At this point it is what it is and I drive 74 on the freeway everywhere I go and wear and tear and MPG be damned!

I have gotten 24mpg on long trips with this truck dash screenshots to prove it and long stretches as well.

I love when guys come on here telling others how they should drive their truck....smh. 

 

My truck IS my fast car and I go fast in it! It's the whole reason I bought it and modified it. To be different from everyone else.

      I forgot to answer the question as per what market mine is set to and yes I finally found that area on mine and yes its also set to America.   So here's something I realized as I wasn't looking at that part in the Sierra section until now, your right that what I see here as choice 3 under Sierra which says 07/2023-06/2026 ( 433 MHz 13542523 ) it has no choice 5 for tire pressure selection. Where as it does under the Chev choice. However I kept going down the list within the Sierra and I am really wondering if choice 9 will work for your truck as it has the same model number and hertz sensor as my truck. I would say try that choice first, if that doesn't work then jump over to the Chev section and again choose that same model and hertz choice as for some reason the Chev section gives the choice 5 of tire type/pressure selection for going back a number of years. Could very well be an Autel thing that they just didn't get the updates all done properly under Sierra but anyway first try that selection 9 I suggested under Sierra and then go from there.

      Looking for this piece that holds the hose clamp in place. I have the hose clamp just not that other piece. Dealers and wrecking yards in my area will not sell just that piece. They want you to buy the whole air tube $100 +/- to get that $5 part.  that piece isn't molded to the air tube as I looked at my friends truck. It's held on by a screw and nut. I'm trying to put the OEM parts on the truck as the previous owner butchered things up installing an aftermarket CAI. It really looked homemade. 🤣 Thanks

      Ok I missed that part that yours is a GM. The strange part is that the choice for year ranges and within the year of 2026 is different on the Sierra then on the Chev for some reason as I am looking at my tool at the Sierra choices. Now I am guessing you see as to your sensor part number as it may be different on your truck for some reason and a call to GM should get you the part model number of the sensors you should have as well as which MHz your sensors are. I know mine are the ones as per what I listed but there are other choices in the Autel and got me wondering if by some chance they put different ones in your truck. Having said that, did you try using each of the choices starting from No 1 and going on down the list, not sure if that would mean shutting off the engine each time and resetting the tool and going at it again each time. Also I thought of something else which may sound retarded but if there was some stupid chance that the chev choice would work. The reason I say that is that the Sierra is showing a range up to 06/2026 for the various choices of sensors it could be where as the Chev has one choice that has that 12/2026. By the way it is possible to not run the truck and you may know that as per not pressing the brake but pressing and holding the start button for a few seconds and it lights up the dash ( its called service mode ) but that sucks battery power and if it were me doing it that way I would be throwing on a decent sized battery charger before doing it that way as killing your battery won't make you happy at me at all !.    Like I say, just a thought to try the Chev choices if you have already exhausted the Sierra choices but first it would be nice to know for sure what exact sensor model and hertz your truck uses as I assume only those choices that mention the sensor would work unless a choice that does not mention the sensor model would somehow work. Its frustrating when one is trying to use tools like this without the experience of the tool and the vehicle, as I am sure dealer techs themselves struggle with it when starting out or a new model year comes along that is slightly different.

      I tried before I updated the scan tool just incase an update messed it up, but it never worked so I updated the scan tool and it still didn't work.   Only difference is I click on Sierra not Chevrolet cause I have a Sierra.   If I click on 2026-2024 I didn't have any option to change placard, when I click on 2023 it does give me the option but when I try to do it,.it says vehicle not supported!   I have my region or market or whatever it is set to America I think, is that what yours is set to?

      Its just that it worked on 2024 trucks on this forum and my 2025 model truck, unless GM did something since that point to screw up access or Autel has a bad update. I haven't had need to use my tool since last year when I did the changes to the placard pressure settings and since then I updated the software on my Autel but have not plugged into the OBD so hard to say if I would get a surprise as well.    All I know last year when I bought the Autel I was warned to be sure to update it before I tried using the unit as they said who knows how long ago unit itself was actually manufactured as the software could be way out of date.
