You might as well ask a magician how the trick is done as to ask a blender what’s in the bottle.

OK, but what's in the box!?

The pendulum is starting to swing back from these low viscosity oils, I think. Maybe CAFE softening up a bit or the amount of warranty claims is becoming unsustainable. Early 5.0 Fords called for 5w20. They quietly bumped it to 5w30 for 2021. And if you add the factory supported Whipple supercharger? The spec becomes 5w50.

Waiting to see if GM will follow suit. Even their non-defective “healthy” 6.2s have no business running 0w20. Not at the oil temperatures I saw on my stock 2019 and not at these OCIs either. In fact, studies have shown increased piston ring and bearing wear when the HTHS viscosity is at or below a typical hot SAE20. And the handful of 0w20s that actually are stout enough in HTHS are niche, expensive and carry no approvals. So for practical purposes they don’t exist.

CAFE is no more.  CARB has been neutered.  Waiting on the passage of HR4117 to cement these changes.

You’ll be waiting a long time. The bill isn’t out of introduction phase in the house.

It was included in other legislation that was to be voted on this month but was removed for reasons forgotten by me.

It’s from Facebook so probably a big “if”…but “if” this guy is telling the truth about the oil change interval, that leaves the quality of the oil used, and the viscosity of said oil as two big question marks here. Even the non-wiped lobes on the cam look terrible.

Not saying every truck is eating a cam at 67k miles but I’ve seen enough low mileage failure cases to be highly skeptical of generic 0w20 being run in any full size trucks.

This is what you were seeing in Your analysis when I saw it earlier. How’s the reports now?

Instead of politics let’s discuss policy and what car makers DO. NOT WHAT YOU WANT IT to be.

Improvement with miles just as one would expect. Oxidation and Nitration look stellar for this oil which has nearly a 10 nitration background. Oxidation, ditto, near VOA values. Good VI retention. TBN is happy on E85 and begging for some breathing room. Oil is not being stressed. Fuels is what I would expect for the fuel used vs the fuel that was. Identical to my results.

Boys we aren’t making meth or spraying nitrogen on fields. No engine oil

has 10 abs units of nitration reading. You are nuts.

Once again catch you “skinning the cat of truth”. Firmly call you on your online BS. THAT ain’t  10 abs. So you are an order of magnitude off. Geebus

I've supplied numerous STLE and SAE articles and equipment vendors instructions on this topic. You can't wish a thing to be true. I'm not suppling more TRUTH from YOUR PEOPLE for you to ignore and confuse people with.

Nitration levels are all over the map. 2 minutes googling others VOA samples. Background matters. It matters to the STLE and the SAE and to the people that make the instruments that measure it. You call me a liar and a fool and whatever else come to mind but it still won't make you right. Make you opposed to your own craft.

Produce ONE single credible source that agrees with this fiction and I'll give it a second look. But until then...fiction it is.
