That's false advertising if I have ever seen it! Between engines spinning bearings and kicking rods out the block to transmissions that can't even make it out of warranty, GM should be ashamed of themselves.

Update(s)

GM sent dealers a new special tool to use with an existing tool, the Picoscope (fancy high end oscilloscope plus a whole bunch of other fun stuff it can do).  Its a knock sensor that is wired to be used with the Pico.  This is for recall N252494000 which is still in "incomplete/remedy not available" status.

Trucks with N252494001 are still the verify P0016 is not set, if not, switch the truck to 0w40.

N252494002 has been appearing as "open" on some VINs.  This one is the put an engine in it recall #.  The one we have that is currently already getting an engine actually has this recall as open status now so GM knew by VIN that either the original or the replacement engine are/were suspect and therefore it was given the 002 recall version and to put an engine in it.

Thank you for posting these upates. I, for one, really appreciate you keeping us in the loop.

Do we really believe this has been fixed for the 25 model years? Let’s say your dealer wanted to do you right and traded you into a 25. Would you have concerns?

Don't see why not 🤷‍♂️

GM knows the window for the problems, March 1, 2021 to May 31, 2024.  Post May 31st 2024 they had the improved production in place for whatever concerns were going on.  Is it possible that one bad one could sneak out here or there?  Sure, can with any of the engines they have, but I'd imagine if one popped up that GM would nip any issues in the bud quickly after this whole fiasco.

So my engine build date is 21 Feb 26 ... Truck build date 03/21 and it is on the list.

Just got my truck back from the dealer yesterday with the new engine installed and today the truck is back at the dealer because the engine is miss firing. They did give me a brand new diesel to drive today

Is the recall for Engine build date or Truck build date? My build date was 6 days after yours on 3/27.

Sorry to hear. That’s the next thing. Lots of opportunities for them to screw things up during such an invasive repair. I could never get dealers to do the simple things correctly let alone something like this. They completely destroyed multiple pieces of the interior on my Silverado fixing the rear window leak twice. And then the Ram “wing” of the same dealership installed a shock backwards on my other truck and destroyed that. $1200 repair they had to eat at least. 😂

I'd trade in a heartbeat! My local dealer has a 25 that's an exact duplicate to mine and I would not hesitate if they offered me a real good deal

I believe it is the engine build date. There is a sticker on the back of the left side engine cylinder head with the date code. The engine build date will precede the truck build date but not by much, natch. A few days, maybe a week.

Does it matter in terms of the recall?

My truck is on the recall list by the vin # and the engine built date is Feb. 21.

Per the NHTSA 25V-274 (N252494000) document....

"GM’s updated field data analysis identified a build period from March 1, 2021, to May 31, 2024..."
