You can try and dump but prepare to probably take a hit on it as on the wholesale side of things they are staying away from them and the prices are dropping down.

Agreed 100% 40k for a 2021  $65k truck with 15,700 miles is a $6K a year loss....... So much for buying your dream truck, Guess  I'll just wait it out and see what happens. I  see a class action coming!! Even if GM were to do a buy back you still lose as no way you could replace with out paying out of pocket $s.

I look at this as an opportunity. So it starts with 2021. I have friends at my local Chevy and GMC dealership. A higher mileage 2021 with the 6.2 could be a killer deal, maybe. My truck stays in town. There’s a price range that I would take a chance. My wife just rolls her eyes.

I do understand outside vendors. Are the castings cleaned by the vendor or the GM assy plant before assy?

My buddy runs a shop that does work mostly for Navistar, Ford and FCA. Oil filter adapters, oil pans, supercharger snouts, etc. They take in raw castings and do all the machining. Parts are cleaned and leak tested before sending them off. These companies are extremely picky and demanding to work with so it’s surprising something like this slid through the cracks.

You have 850,000 units world wide under suspicion. You can't supply motors. What's the next move?

Give them a  pacifier. A heavier oil. Placebo's work.

Or owners could inspect and rebuild their own motor on their own dime before they grenade. What? Spend my own money to put out the fire consuming my house? How dare you make such a suggestion. Or just wait and see if that smoke dies out all on it's own. Fire department isn't coming kids.

I hear ya. The vendor wants to keep selling to you [the car company]. And, the car company wants to keep selling to you [the customer], and not go broke doing so.

Like I said earlier, amazing, isn`t it?

Has anyone tried trading one of these in yet? Carvana gave me a quote, didn’t love it but it was a quote.

Wondering if it’s not better to just dump early and move on to something else rather than deal with this bs.

I'm dumping my 6.2L 2021 AT4 with 37000 miles on Saturday for a 2025 chevy 1500 ZR2 with the diesel. They are giving me $43000  for trade, not bad

It's one I've never worked with about 2 hours away. Had the ZR2 marked down about $8000 off MSRP so am giving them a shot.

Will see how it goes but so far so good.

23 High Country 6.2 48,900 miles $79,000 sticker.

Carvana $45,000.

Talk about bending over.

Blackstone is up to $50.00 these days, for a single.

My bad. $40.00 for a single and $10.00 added for TBN.

Update(s)

GM sent dealers a new special tool to use with an existing tool, the Picoscope (fancy high end oscilloscope plus a whole bunch of other fun stuff it can do).  Its a knock sensor that is wired to be used with the Pico.  This is for recall N252494000 which is still in "incomplete/remedy not available" status.

Trucks with N252494001 are still the verify P0016 is not set, if not, switch the truck to 0w40.

N252494002 has been appearing as "open" on some VINs.  This one is the put an engine in it recall #.  The one we have that is currently already getting an engine actually has this recall as open status now so GM knew by VIN that either the original or the replacement engine are/were suspect and therefore it was given the 002 recall version and to put an engine in it.

contact @Black02Silverado who is a LIFETIME SUPPORTER OF GM-TRUCKS for a good oil analysis that have FTIR work you need from Oil Analyzers  for $32.75 if you are a preferred customer.  Don't use USPS because Indianapolis USPS slows the delivery too long.  UPS best and same price.  Cheaper than Blackstone or any other and can do extra testing for good prices.  Even my old labs I contracted with recommend this service for the $$.

Oil Analyzers Test Kit, UPS Pre-Paid

Oil Analyzers offers several full-service lubricant-analysis kits. KIT02 can also be used for all drivetrain fluids, but use KIT09 for coolant testing. The testing included with KIT02 includes the following:

  • 24 Metals by ICP (wear metals, contaminant metals, multi-source metals and additive metals)
  • % Fuel Dilution (Engines)
  • % Soot (Engines)
  • Water % by Crackle
  • Viscosity @ 40°C (Non-Engines)
  • Viscosity @ 100°C (Engines)
  • Oxidation/Nitration
  • Base Number (Engines)
  • Acid Number (Non-Engines)

KIT02 includes 3-oz. sample bottle, mailer with UPS pre-paid shipping label, sample form and instructions.

GM’s advertising department apparently decided it was a good time to release this video. 😂
