I watched AutoWeek on TNN today and they tested the new straight six Blazer/Yukon/Bravada...   It was pretty impressive...  That motor has been in testing for three years!!   270HP!!!  The biggest problem I see is the pricing, although it is competetive with the Explorer,  it's still pushing 30g's and up for a loaded SUV.  Jeep is the one who pushed the envelope on pricing and the consumer bought it so all manufactures are now trying to get on the bandwagon!!

I've said it before and I'll say it again now,It's a nice vehicle but it needs a V8.The 270 horse I6 is nice but it needs more than 275 ft/lbs of torque.

Until they offer atleast the 4.8,I won't even consider it.

wouldn't a 4.8L option move the torque band way to high???  I've always thought the beauty of an inline 6 was that the power was available down low in the rpm band...   Isn't that why Jag and BMW stay with the inline???  they make it perform like a V-8!!!!

It wouldn't suprise me in the least to see that little 4.2 I6 outperform a 4.8 V8.  I know it will get better mileage, and probably be just as quick.  Most I6's I have seen have been very tough, reliable motors and I don't expect this to be any different, just more refined.

I would buy one in a second if thats what I was in the market for.

I guess for me,it's just the principle of the matter. If I'm going to buy something that close to a fullsize vehicle,I want it to have an 8.

I know that if they can put that 6 in there,a 4.8 or 5.3 will fit.The 4.2 may turn out to be a great engine but I wish they would make the V8 an option.

Sorry about that Mervz...  I noticed it after I started the thread and there were already replies so I didn't delete it since I new you'd send it where it needed to go!!!

Looks like my mom might be getting one in the near future

I talked to my dealer about prices and he is sending them (should be here today).  I think a loaded LT is like 30 something.  Not to bad considering her 2000 LT stickered for 31. She got it for 26 though.  GM supplier deal helps out alot.

Well my salesman built one in his sytem for the hay of it.

Loaded LT (sunroof, bose sound system, larger tires, running boards which she wouldnt get)

Came out to be ?K and some change msrp.  DAMNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!! my silverado had an msrp ?K (V-8 tow pkg, licking rear much more than this blazer)

After a gm supplier discount it would probably end up costing right at 30K with taxes.

She hasnt totally decided but the news reported last night gas is going to be ?.00 a gallon in the area come summer.  Reason enough not to get another SUV in the family.
