Tsb On Ebony Seat

Sigh.

I've been watching this post for over a year now.

Still no progress.

Surely GM must have someone monitoring sites like these to see what their customers are griping about?

Surely their dealers are forwarding our complaints?

Surely our complaints are being funneled from the multiple sources such as email, customer care line etc. into one so GM is aware of the magnitude of the problem?

I've given up on my seats and am disappointed that GM can let this go on that long.

I don't enjoy driving the the truck with the linty seats. Probably won't keep it as long as anticipated as a result. (well a result of this and a few other things I don't like about it)

I promise to test drive a Ford before I buy another GM product. That goes for both the car and the truck.

I wish it had seats like my 04.

Your going to get rid of a perfectly good truck just becuase it has linty seats!!!! Wow that is pretty sad, considering how much money you are going to lose by selling the truck earlier.

Ya well important or not to some, I have pretty bad allergies to cats and dogs, and my friends have them, get the hair and dander on their clothes and my truck holds on to all of it.

Not to mention it looks like crap, ill post pics of my leather from classic soft trim on friday.

I just called three local dealers. Two said there was no update. The third said he hoped to see something in the next six to eight months. Let us know what you find out at the dealership.

I had my truck at the dealer (new truck, new experience with dealer) to book an appointment for first oil change. Mentioned the driver's door handle that feels like it's falling off and the seats. He'd seen a few door handles do this, but apparently this is the first time he's ever heard the complaints about the seats (though he was awful quick to say "yes, it's the material" with a 'there's nothing we can do about it' shrug). I mentioned the TSB and of course he knows nothing about any TSB ever coming out. I told him, "let me be the first to get the ball rolling with a formal complaint then". And so it begins.

Do yourself a favor and get a print out with the cancelled TSB # on it. Everytime you mention this to anyone at a dealership or at GM they will all act like you are crazy. It needs to be from a dealership or they won't comment on it. Just push it until they stop pretending it doesn't exist. It always cracks me up when they say "we don't have any record of it". Then you can say "well you are in luck. I just happen to have a print out of the TSB. Good thing one of us can figure out your TSB system"

Heres that bulletin again in case you need it.....

Service Information Service Manual | Document ID: 2023269

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

#07-08-50-018A: Excessive Lint Accumulation on Cloth Seats (Parts Not Yet Available) - (Oct 2, 2007)

Subject: Excessive Lint Accumulation on Cloth Seats (Parts Not Yet Available)

Models:

2007-2008 Chevrolet Avalanche, Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe

2007-2008 GMC Sierra, Yukon, Yukon XL, Yukon Denali, Yukon Denali XL

with Cloth Seats (RPOs AE7, AZ3, A95)

Built Prior to August 1, 2007

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This bulletin is being revised to advise dealers that the appropriate parts are not available at this time. This bulletin will be revised again when parts become available. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 07-08-50-018 (Section 08 - Body and Accessories).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Condition:

Some customers may comment on excessive lint accumulation on the cloth seat material. Darker colored seat fabric seems to show the condition more than lighter fabrics.

Cause:

The source of the lint accumulation is not the seat fabric material. The seat material, though, exhibits a tendency to accumulate and retain lint from sources that come into contact with the fabric.

Correction:

The part numbers listed in the previous bulletin were incorrect. Please do not replace the seat covers at this time.

GM bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, NOT a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform these technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions, and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, DO NOT assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See your GM dealer for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.

Took you guys advise, called the dealer, they have the new covers in stock, and confimed they are complete covers for entire seats. i am dropping truck off tonight and will examine the material myself.

How did it turn out for you? Were the covers new?

I also had them save all my old seat covers so when the parts are made available for the replacement of the cloth in the TSB, ill turn my old ones in for the new ones so GM doesnt get away scott free (at least on my truck)!!!
