$900 installed, bye bye lint!

Did you have the front seat sensors re-zeroed after the install? I took mine in to the dealer after I installed my Katzkins. The sensors were off quite a bit following the install. In my case, the air bags would not have properly deployed enough in the event of a head on. Something to be aware of.

No i didnt, ill have to go to the dealer and have them do that.

Just wondering if this would be updated when a "fix" has been found. My truck was built in November 2007 and the seats are horrible just as the ones prior to Aug 2007. I have never seen anything like these seats and don't understand why it is taking sooooooo long to come up with something to fix this problem. Like others have stated previously, just use the material they have used in the past before the 07 / 08 model year. Maybe it would be just as easy to replace with leather? I almost went with the 800.00 optional leather when I ordered this thing and I regret that I didn't.

to be honest, if you negotiate well, for $900 you can get aftermarket leather from classic soft trim thats far superior in quality, look and feel.

Well I've finally had it. Last weekend I spent 3 hours cleaning the truck and on Tuesday I picked up a client and he joked "You must be busy, no time to even clean the truck". Everyone knows that guy,you know, the guy that no matter what, his truck is always spotless. I used to be that guy but thanks to these seats I'm not anymore. I ordered my Katzkins Wednesday and they should go in next week, screw you GM, this might be the end of what has been a very long relationship.

I know how you feel. Still thinking about doing the same thing and going leather. Wished I had opted for the SLT so I could have the heated leather. I gave up my 05 SLT for the 08 SLE2, what a mistake.

Classic soft trim looks great BlownChevelle. I'm slowly starting to lean that direction.

I called the local service manager yesterday that told me the seats were two to three weeks out back on May 1. He is supposed to call back today with some kind of update. I'll post it here when he does.

If no fix by this winter I'll probably spring for heated leather.

This has got to be the longest thread in quite awhile.

My sympathies go out to all.

I would/might have ordered an upscale truck. But I wanted vinyl seats. In GM's wisdom, the vinyl seats are only available in the Work Truck.

They are just so much more pactical. Easy to keep clean. I got because I have a dog. I am/was tired of using Scotch tape to remove dog hairs. With vinyl, just vacuum and/or wipe with damp cloth.

And note: Everyone, and I mean everyone, thinks I have Leather Seats. It's amazing.

I realize in warm/hot climates people don't want vinyl seat trim. But many purchase leather in warm/hot climates.

Love the GM vinyl seats. I wish GM offered the vinyl seats thruout the line.

My mom's Impala wagon had dark dark blue vinyl seats. I received 3rd degree burns every day in the summer. Her new wagon had dark red leather. I only received 2nd degree burns from those. I figured it had more to do with color than material.

I loved the cloth seats on my 99 Silverado. Cool in the summer, warm(er) in the winter. Thats why I was happy that the trim package for my 07 (LT1) had cloth. My seats aren't too bad now, but it is getting on my nerves.

Your seats do look very nice.

Well im sick of waiting on this mystery "fix". Been following this thread for a while and blownchevelles seats look great, alot better than most do it yourselfs i've seen. So i took a trip to classic soft trim in St. Louis. Man what a differance in quality over the gm leather. Alot softer, comfortable, and yet thicker and tougher feeling than the GM leather. So i looked at the owners nbs chevy and a few customers rigs that were getting worked on, and IM SOLD. Originally price was 1250.99, i talked them down to an even 1000.00. Not as good of a price as blownchevelle got, but im happy with it.

New leather will be in truck on thursday the 12th, i will post pics. But finally i will be rid of the lint roller seats and i am keeping the old covers so when/if GM offers a fix i will have them to shove down their throats. Again, if you guys are looking at leather out of your own pocket, check out Classic Soft Trim.

You might run the risk of GM's part not being as good as the aftermarket, I know my aftermarket leather blows GM factory out of the water in every single way.
