  1. For those new to the thread/TLDR version: Some: "No I wouldn't buy this again." Some Others: "Yes I would, I love it." Grumpy Bear: "Rebuy? I wouldn't buy it to begin with!"

  4. Because of the many issues I had with my truck, I had to let go of my beloved ‘19 TB. I purchased it with the intent to keep it 10+ years based on my previous experience with Chevy (even first model years like a rock solid 07 Avalanche that was still running strong when I sold it at 150k miles). Needless to say I was very disappointed with the experience of having a 60k MSRP truck have leaky windows, check engine lights, breaking door knobs, defective paint and I can go on and on.. The worst of which may have been the complete incompetence and lack of care on behalf of the (multiple) dealerships I’ve worked with (little care in providing good service, sloppy repairs, lack of loaners, etc). Now, I will definitely be back shopping for a truck again in a few years give the need to haul dirt bikes and other toys around. However for now, especially with other life events happening (adding a second set of twins to family!) I needed something with a bigger interior anyway. So thanks to COVID used car values I was able to kill two birds with one stone: get rid of my trouble prone TB and still not get completely washed. We decided to replace it with a 3 row SUV, seriously considered a Suburban for a while but didn’t want to buy the new one, due to the risk of having issues again with a new model but more important having to deal with crappy Chevy dealerships again. And having owned performance German sedans in the past I wanted something more fun anyway, so long story short we settled on this. I dub it the “500 hp minivan” ? but for those unsure what they’re looking at it’s a BMW X7 M50i with a 523hp twin turbo V8. Basically a USA made, German engineered muscle SUV with endless luxury. Needless to say its a blast to drive, fits our whole family 2 sets of twins and can even tow up to 7500 lbs... it doesn’t compare in no way to the GM trucks but nevertheless we are super happy with it. And I will still be looking to add a truck as a 3rd car sometime in the next 3-4 years. Lots of awesome stuff coming out like the RAM TRX, potential Silverado ZRX and new V8 supercharged Raptor as well as Cybertruck and Rivian so overall really exciting times we live in! Despite my love-hate relationship with the Silverado this forum and its members have always been a tremendous resource during the, unexpectedly short, ownership. The experience of owning the truck wouldn’t be the same without it! Hope to be back at some point (with something more reliable lol) but for now.. good bye and happy trucking all!

  5. I’ll add... the only time I’m personally annoyed with A/S is when I roll up to a stop sign that I know I’m only going to stop at for like 1-2 seconds before turning or going thru. When I’ve forgotten to turn A/S off, that’s been a ?? because just as the truck is shutting off, I’m already lifting my foot off the pedal to go. Doesn’t feel very good on the vehicle.

  6. Don't really like it so I've pressed the button to disable it each time (on this truck and on previous trucks). Then installed the eliminator so it recognizes it as off full-time and it's been wonderful. I would equate the eliminator install similar to spraying a squeeky door hinge with wd40. While none of it is earth shattering business, after dealing with a squeeky door for months... the second you close that door in silence without the squeek you think "why the heck didn't I do this sooner?" The same is said for the auto stop eliminator!

  7. Leave the little straps on the new shocks while bolting them on...you won’t even need to compress them much by hand. Just takes small adjustments to line them up from there.

  8. Unbolt and replace. No need to jack it up, you can compress the shocks by hand.

  10. There are two screws at the bottom that have to come out. To get to them you have to remove the center console upper trim and then another small trim price that hides the screws. Look at YouTube for the Auto Stop Eliminator. That video has instructions in how to remove the radio bezel that you’re trying to remove.

  11. Just ordered my GMPE from Chevy Accessories' website. ?? I should re-title this thread "You have $2000. What mods do you do", because I talked myself into the GM CAI a few days ago and ordered it from ShopChevyParts.com. ? Once I started down the road of changing up the exhaust, I figured I might as well just complete the set so that I'm not stuck thinking I should have bought the CAI after I have the GMPE exhaust installed. Going to install the GM CAI over Labor Day weekend, then have the GMPE installed right after that so they can flash my ECM all in the same visit. Can't wait to have this all done to raise my 5.3L to new life! ?? Thanks to all for the opinions! I'm going to enjoy these purchases far longer and far more than a tonneau or shocks.

  12. I really do not care for it. If you’re the first car at a light there is a delay and then a lurch getting going. Bought the Range DFM disabler. It disables the auto stop, too. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  13. Mine is LoMax Access Tri-fold and it actually folds only twice as the 3rd panel nearest the cab doesn't fold up towards the rear window. It's easily removable for full bed access. I believe it's the LoMax Stance that folds up completely and blocks the rear window. Also, I have the Bedrug custom fit for my short bed and it's great. Perfect fit and I haven't yet used the bed tie-down strips that came with it. Given that the tonneau stays closed I see no need to "glue" down the BedRug.

  14. Would I rebuy my 2019 GMC? Yes.14000 miles works perfect best truck ever owned. Tow a 21ft Bigfoot trailer works great. Only thing that has been a problem is the Z31 emblem has sharp points on the Z part that catches microfiber towel. GM should issue a recall on this.

  15. Here’s how your story and reasoning is irrational. you chose to drive ONE truck for 3 minutes and the lowest grade WT GM offers. LMFAO. Are you kidding me??? SMH Also, second when I bought my truck I test drove it for 10 minutes. It didn’t impress me much over my K2 at first but I bought it because of the 0% interest, plus I got discounts on it, and I got a heck of deal on my 2018 (drove it 2 years paid $45k for it and got $42k on trade in) here is where on your 3 min test drive you don’t get to appreciate the truck: The rear cabs in these trucks are so much roomier. The rear center counsel cup holders, air vents, and rear heated seats are fantastic and huge upgrade over K2 trucks. The engine combinations are amazing. The steering, road manners, and comfort of the T1s trump the K2s. I take this truck everywhere. Heck it took me almost a year to put 10k miles on my 2018. I’ve had this T1 for 4 months and have almost 8k miles on it. I love driving it. (Remember I owned 3 K2 trucks) The cameras and infotainment make the truck so much easier to park and deal with in a daily basis. The cabin layout and interior is simple and easy to use. (Even you’re tired old @$$ couldn’t mess it up) All these things you can’t appreciate in a 3 min test drive. THIS is how your reasoning is irrational. hopefully you took my advice from last night and we can see a happy bear from now on have a fantastic day and rest of your weekend. I’m going to go drive my T1 to my grandfathers house for a family gathering and cook him a steak! I know he won’t be grumpy and irrational!

  20. Most of the tuning threads on this forum are either about canned tunes, send out/get back ECM canned tunes, or early (2014-2018) threads where posters were freaking out about warranty this and warranty that. Well, a lot of our warranties are up so...... I've been screwing around with HP Tuners (left over from my hotrod days). So far have disabled AFM, dialed the speedo in closer to my current tire height, and right now I'm playing with fan logic for my 174F thermo install tomorrow. My goal is increased towing performance (mostly by keeping the temps down). Have a 7700lb max travel trailer OTW and don't feel like rocking 240F temps up grades. Lump me in with the crowd that is high temperature averse and believes the stock inferno is purely CAFE related. I have no desire to make the truck "faster" or anything WOT related really. After playing with LS1s, LS2s and LS3s the thought of using a 5500lb 4x4 crew cab to smash around town like a squirrel seems akin to using a fork for a screw driver. Anyone else here play around in there? Gen V is definitely more complicated than the Gen III/IV stuff I've been playing with before. No surprise. Anything HP Tuners related has always been a big shrouded mystery with ghost and barely answered posts on their home forum and guys in the know desperately clinging to their knowledge so they don't lost their side gig gravy train of tuning local cars. I think next up if the fans agree with me I'll work on part throttle response and maybe back down some torque management and see if that improves response. Again, I have no desire to snap the transfer case chain by slamming a WOT no TM 1>2 shift but some more pep in the throttle for the mild around town stuff would be nice. Cheers.

  23. Some discount tire locations do road force balancing and some don't. You just have to ask. Hub centric rings will NOT fix your vibration. As long as the wheels have the right bolt pattern and the center hole fits over the hub extension, your problem is in the tires or a bent or out of round wheel. If you watch them spin the wheel tire combo on the balance, you can watch the edge of the wheel and the dogs of the tire and see if they are running true.

  24. Buy the Curt with 2" drop. It's $30 and will suffice for most of your towing needs.

  29. So spend $180 on the range device, studies show around $179 savings at 15k miles a year at $3.50 a gallon annually so basically first year just pissing away $350 the first year and an additional $720 the next 4 years. That means it can save you enough to buy a nice hard rolling tonneau cover, especially if you are in stop and go or city traffic often. Not sure why people dislike this or other fuel saving tech, multiple independent test have shown around 7-8% fuel savings with start stop tech on average. I am all for it, we can't avoid it so might as well embrace it as trying to get around some of the stuff can be even more expensive. Tyler

  33. I’m satisfied with the ride using the 5100s only in back. It did correct some of the tail happy behavior over broken roads that the 2019s are notorious for. Hasn’t completely eliminated it, but there was a noticeable difference over one stretch of road I drive every day.

  34. I just got the Bakflip MX4 installed. I noticed that I have to open the inner tailgate to pop open the back of the tonneau to get the rest of the tailgate to come down. I don't know if that's just the way it is, but it seems to be a minor inconvenience. Love the seal on it; my previous truck had the Bakflip Revolver, but since I used it a lot the plastic clips for the rails would come off or break.

  35. Did you miss the REBUY part? You know, as in buy again... For someone who got pissy when others chimed in on his stupid gas oil mix thread, you’ve had no problem responding three times in a thread requesting opinions from owners of a truck you’ve never driven.

  37. Just wanted to give an update. Problem is solved. Spoke with the service manager who was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Apparently the Canadian built transmission (8spd) when they were first building them, they used too much assembly lube, causing the clutch packs to "shudder" as they slipped. That is also why the rpms go up, as the trans is basically slipping. The TSB noted above flushing the trans 3 times, reprogramming and relearning the shifting, solves the issue as it gets the lube flushed out and the trans fluid can soak back into the clutch packs as it should so they can engage and the friction is there as it should be. Allen, the service manager was great to work with and said my initial diagnoses was spot on and was thankful I was as "in tune" with my vehicle as I was. It helped him a lot. Truck drives nice and smooth, like silk now. Very happy and glad I found this place to assist in the diagnoses. Thanks all!!

  38. Thanks to this forum with putting the idea in my head Just sold my 19 Silverado RST to Carvanna with convenience II package, 4wd, 5.3 for $44,942.00. Had 12,300 miles, bought last year for $43,000, MSRP was $53 and some change. Really easy transaction too, just meet at Carvanna store in OKC, 10 mins later, I had my check. Still in shock I was paid that much, bought a 2020 GMC AT4 with 6.2 today!

  39. Going backwards seems to be a common theme with GM today. The 8 speed is widely regarded as a absolute turd of a slop box so it would make sense i guess to the idiots in Detroit to now stick it in all the lower tier optioned trucks.

  42. Yes! I was originally going to get a 2019 AT4. I test drove one, and like a previous comment said "the seats are horrible!" Before I ordered mine I test drove a 2019 AT4 and thought the same thing, "The seats are stiff and uncomfortable, but maybe they're just so new and haven't broken in yet." I wanted a 6-1/2' box, not the 5-1/2' box. Apparently all the dealerships are mostly trying to sell 5-1/2' boxes because they searched a 500 mile radius and couldn't find a single AT4 with a 6-1/2' box. They told me I'd have to order one from the factory...no biggie, I wasn't in any rush; plus that gave me some time to sell my Ford Escape. Once I got looking at the difference between the 19's and the 20's I noticed the 20's have adaptive cruise control, I ordered a 20 instead of a 19 for only $250 more. Once I got mine the seats were nice & soft, nothing like the stiff-as-a-board ones I remembered in the 19 that I test drove. It's had a couple issues here and there, but the dealership has been pretty good about fixing them right away. I did have to get the entire nav/xm/radio/etc thing replaced within the first month or so of having it because it wouldn't turn on some times. It still has it's little hiccups now & again, but so does my phone, I guess. All in all, I've only had it for a about a year, but it's been a pretty good truck so far. My dog likes it too; 14 years old and she still goes pretty much everywhere with me. My dad even just recently bought a 2020 3/4 ton Denali diesel. His only complaint is that his trailering mirrors on his sit up so high they cause a heck of a blind spot up front.

  43. Thought I'd share an update. I had the door handles installed with just the regular LED that was in the door. I did a whole retrofit and bought from Profile Prism Sequential LED strips(6"). Crossed my fingers and dug(dremeled) out the backside of the door handle to fit the LED strips, sealed them up and wired them back up. Now they come on with park-lamp(white) and turn signal. I did also wire up the regular LED to come on with the puddle lamp, but at night, the park lamp comes on, so it outshines the OE LED in the door . I did keep the option in the door to switch it out to that if the normal park-lamp LED was too bright(unless I get complaints, it' the bright LED [emoji3] ).

  45. What I’m reading is with a 2” level the widest you can go without rubbing would be a 285 but with a 60 aspect ratio. This is for 20” wheels of course. If you want to go to a 65 ratio you need to go slightly narrower with a 275 tire. Jay Teez has 285/60’s I have 275/65’s. We both don’t have rubbing issues. Bluerado has 285/65’s and has a slight rub in reverse at full lock. We all have levels on our trucks. Hope that helps. Definently helps me because once the tires I have now will need to be replaced I was considering going slightly wider to give myself a bit more rim protection but then I would have to go with a shorter tire. I’ve kissed a few curbs and thankfully haven’t done any damage to my rims even with the 275’s! The BFG’s do a good job deflecting the curb attacks!
