  1. These are the comments I come here to see. People who actually own the truck and have driven it to enjoy it. Real world seat time. The T1 drives so much better than the K2 trucks. Looks are subjective but I think they look really aggressive. Kudos to GM for going outside the box on a very “controversial” design that I really like.

  2. illuminating Bow-tie installed, dealer sticker delete, tow hitch cover installed. Other than that stock. Going to be ordering some Amp Power running boards (for the family) and exhaust next. Hopefully soon :-).

  5. My 2020 6.2 at4 is the best vehicle I’ve owned. I was between this new at4 abd a raptor with 20k miles. As I have not felt the need to ramp my truck off road yet, I’m super happy with my decision. It’s just a really smooth and great looking truck

  6. @Grumpy Bear is very passionate about how terrible the 2019/2020 GM Truck is. This is a dedicated place for him to share his thoughts, views, and opinions.

  7. I got 21mpg with my 2018 5.3L and 20mpg with my 2020 5.3L. 18-19mpg with DFM & auto stop/start disabled.... shrug.... Also, it costs you $100 to fill up your truck? Do you live in California? At the price of premium around here it would cost maybe $60 at most. You also say the 5.3 is no different than Fords 5.0, Ram 5.7 and basically the 6.2 ??? Is there a modern V8 you've driven and do like? It sounds like you just really want something new and different from everything else out there right now. Personally I'm trying to hold out for the next Tundra.

  8. Installed 1500’s in the rear today. Stock height. What. A. Difference! I wasn’t sure what to expect but WOW! It rides so much better now, I want to have the fronts done! The back doesn’t hop around anymore. It drives like it should have stock! Best $180 I could spend on this truck.

  9. https://gmauthority.com/blog/2020/08/2021-chevy-silverado-gmc-sierra-tow-ratings-incoming/ Pretty interesting. I'm not sure it sways my buying decision too much as 9000 is about my limit on a 1/2 ton truck anyway, but I'm glad to see any increase even if I'll probably never use it.

  10. You can tow whatever you want, regardless of what changes you make to the vehicle. At the end of it all, what matters is what you're officially rated for. No matter what you do to your vehicle, it will not change the official rating that it received from the factory. And, if you are in an accident, expect a smart lawyer on the other side to dig up details showing that you were towing beyond your rated capacity. Will anything happen? Overly, not likely. If something does happen, are you definitely "screwed"? Not necessarily. Plan for the worst, hope for the best.

  11. I agree, but unfortunately I have to watch the news. The mob is burning everything to crap 10 miles south of me in Kenosha. Who knows where they will migrate next. Governor was nice enough to tell them to be safe and wear masks as they riot. Okay to ruin innocent people’s livelihoods, as long as you don’t spread a mostly harmless virus while doing so. Wonder how the genius liberals here will feel when the virus wasn’t the end of the world, like they said it would be. But their own mob was.

  12. I think Ford (rightly) realizes, also, that demand is not going to continue to be strong as we see the long tail of this economic shock settle in for most US consumers. As Ray Arnold aka Samuel L. Jackson says... "Hold onto your butts."

  14. As much as I like the design and the sleek look of these track mounted tonneaus, They weren't going to work out for me. I haul a couple 30.5 inch wide kayaks in the bed and the tracks encroached on the width. So I choose to go old school top rail Extang Solid Fold 2.0. Not as pretty but does the job.

  15. Wow, this thread turned sour quick. Nothing like poking the bear (haha no pun intended) to have a little fun in good faith but some of these comments are cringe-worthy.

  16. Started with a 2019 LT Z71 5.3L 8 speed. Best truck I had ever owned to that point (also my first truck ever). Only ever had 1 real issue with the truck. Hard downshift from 2 to 1 where it feels like you've been rear ended. Was happy with the truck. Had most of the features I wanted, leather, heated seats, keyless entry/remote start, etc. Plenty of space for the fam and our dog. And plenty of space in the trunk for all of our junk. (I use it like a trunk more than a bed haha). Sold this truck at 12K miles and 14 months of ownership. Dealer said hard shift was normal. Sold my truck for 6K in equity and used that towards a 2020. Upgraded to a 2020 6.2L 10 speed RST, Z71, All Star, Leather, safety, convinence I and convinence II. Truck drives like a dream. Transmission is buttery smooth and the truck has passing power for days! I like that I got the parking sensors as I hit a pole in a parking lot once in the old one. So yes I would/did. But never ever want to get into an 8 speed again.

  17. If you want to match the factory frame coating it’s Daubert Nox-Rust, available online. Good for touching up yearly everywhere on the frame. The issue with Amp steps on these trucks is that not all cabs have the preferred set of holes to place the rear brackets in. Ideally you’d mount the rear bracket in holes that are about 6-8” forward of the rearmost holes. That allows the hinge to clear that body mount easily. I got lucky on mine and had those holes, but a lot of trucks don’t.

  18. I would and in fact just did! I had a 2019 GMC Carbon Pro - photo attached. I stareted to tow more often and found the camera system did not have the trailer see though and the mirrors while great for everyday work, did not allow great vision around an enclosed trailer. I found a 2020 Carbon Pro with tow mirrors and the updated camera tech and traded the 2019 for the 2020 last week. Trucks have exact same options - except the mirrors and the 2020 tech for the cameras. I swapped out the Method wheels to new truck - but left Ready Lift SST level kit on 2019 (so that was $1,000 spent) Went from 8,600 miles to 3 - both are leased - dealer took my old lease, gave me new lease - 3 yr/36k - interest rates are down - so pmt was $20 less per month - drive off's were $1,108 of which $730 was my first lease payment - so cost me $1362 (drive off's plus RL SST kit on 2019) to get a new truck, with mirrors I needed and will get $720 of those dollars back in pmt. savings, so essentially new truck for $642. Sometimes you just luck out!

  20. They only deleted the split bench that didn’t have storage underneath or in the armrest. They should have never made that in the first place. 40/20/40 is now standard with storage. All is well in the world.

  23. Perfect job for the kid. Not gonna lie my neck was a little sore after the job. It’s easy but not the most comfortable task. I went to 85 top and bottom FWIW.

  24. Thanks bud. I had stumbled upon 85lbs as well. I know on my old truck the top and bottom bolts had different specs. I’m sure I’m just over thinking it. Should I have my 15 yr old attempt to do it? Should be fun. The kid is probably smarter than myself book wise. But he’s lacking in hands on and common sense 10 fold. 25. I probably saw your posts on Tundras.com. lol That does suck and I definitely wouldn't have bought mine if it shook like that. I also need to put a rear sway bar in mine to calm down the leaning in turns.

  26. So no, it’s the one on the opposite side. That side has 2 fins, it’s The side with the single fin that hits the housing rim. I left all the fins alone and cut a notch in the hole in the mirror housing toward the front of the truck where that fin hits. Basically I sort of “dry fit” the light by holding it in there to right before it snaps, and put my utility knife up where that fin hits and marked it first with a little cut. Then pulled the light back down and cut a small v notch at that spot. Snapped right in flat after that, I’d have to redo that part again if I try and rotate it tho. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  27. Seeing your reaction made me call to try to find the 5100s for my 2020 Silverado 1500 with the Duramax. When/if I can find them I am going adjustable in the front to level it out.

  29. The T1 would look better if it had proper wheels and tires on it. The GMT-900 would look better if it was a little lower and got rid of the bed rails.

  30. And for the CEL, welcome to the world of GM and poor software programming and the total inability to deliver OTA fixes (Sadly - like most OEM's). GM lives by the motto - "If no one complains, it works just fine" Chances are, you'll have several software updates needing to be applied to your vehicle. Visit the dealer.

  35. First 'almost' new Chevy in a while, last one was a 2013 BlackDiamond LTZ Avalanche. Bought this 2019 with 8000 miles. No mods yet except for LineX bed liner. The step bars come already on it, and less than two months already showing signs of wear. LineX guys said they would spray them for 200 bucks if I ever decide to get them done.

  36. When I was installing, it wasn't sitting flush and I could see where it was rubbing on that housing you dremeled. This section in white is where I went with a utility knife and just shaved it at 45°, like in my previous picture. Then it sat flush. I thought of using a Dremel, but thought it would take too much off really fast. It didn't need that much taken off. I even cut that tab that sticks up off. This is where I notched the part where the little tab sits in. It didn't take much, but I did little at a time, again, just using a utility knife till it was straight. Arrow is pointing at the side I trimmed it. Both side are the same. It does let you turn it a little to rotate the puddle lamp. Sent from my SM-N986U1 using Tapatalk

  37. Column shift will be hard for me to let go of, but you know change is coming at some point. I think functionally the current interior is real good. I like the layout. Screen is (I guess) small by today’s standards but it’s very responsive and easy to work. The overall ho-hum fit and finish, and lack of character is disappointing for the price I paid. But the benefits outweighed the negatives for me. Dynamically the T1 is a hundred times better. People piss and moan about the tune-ability but fail to mention that these trucks don’t really need it. Not compared to a clunky, lazy K2 with obnoxious AFM and god awful transmission tuning. Features are also much improved. HUD, camera mirror, keyless go, heated rear seats with normal vents, etc. I would buy my truck again, but not right now. Too damn close to the refresh. I plan to trade in 2022, but if something changes I’d also be fine keeping this truck for many years. So I guess the short answer is yes.

  39. With a trailer that long, I’d be more concerned with that than the weight. Just my opinion, but that’s too much length for a half ton stability.

The reviews speak for themselves, but these really are the best you can get. https://www.etrailer.com/dept-pg-Vehicle_Suspension-pm-RAS.aspx?gclid=CjwKCAjw4MP5BRBtEiwASfwAL6ClR287IecORqnkUBJFBlT-EDWvyXoyVduInR79Ifs74IkI7mTXoBoCC1IQAvD_BwE

  42. So I just picked up a ‘20 2wd crew cab 2.7t this week and was looking up some bolt ons. Obviously I know it’s a new platform so it’ll be awhile til there’s a solid aftermarket for these engines. But I did notice an AFE “scorcher” tuner on their website. Is this just an advertisement for their preorder? I saw the downpipe as well. But didn’t see anything mentioned about it being on preorder? Could have missed it though. I had a modded focus ST and just fell in love with having a boosted daily driver but really needed the cab room and bed space for around the house projects. But I’m not one to leave things alone, she needs some aftermarket love to make it my own!!
