I am new to owning a diesel. My 2500 usually idles at 600 rpm’s. It has been running great but for the last few months it will for no reason start idling at 800 rpm’s. Has anyone else experienced this or know why it does it?1 point

Yeah my 2018 is 1234yf as well, I believe the switch on the GM trucks was made in 17. But its not been a hard transition so all the vehicles and manufacturers are different. Unlike back when R12 was phased out and all vehicles had to be done by 95, but eventually everything will be 1234yf and 134a will end up like R12. Then I'm sure they will find some problem with 1234yf and come up with an even more expensive thing to use. But as more vehicles use the new 1234yf, the prices will come down just like they did with 134a.1 point

Thank you for all your comments , suggestions and feedback. I decided to go with the Goodyear All Terrain Adventure size 275 65 18 w/ white letters. The installation is tomorrow.1 point

It's going to put additional stress on the transmission which equates to heat and hence an early death.1 point

Yeah that's way too much for a muffler delete. But some places will try to charge extra for those "delete pipes" even though they're unnecessary. Yours sounds great though!1 point

Bought my chrome ones off a high country truck for 200 last. Brand new 850 or 750 can't remember.1 point

I have to say. This is a case of sorry, not sorry. Sorry for your damage. Not sorry to see a coyote snuffed.1 point

Congrats on your new 2020 Hoss. I feel the same as you regarding the noise I get from mine. I’ve put on about 6K miles towing without any issues, so I’m assuming if it were a major issue it would have shown up by now. Still love it!1 point

So I ordered my Roll N Lock cover today and was looking at the cargo manager. Like the way it integrates with the cover and has numerous locking spots and the ability to flip up or just be removed. Anyone have one and care to chime in. Cargo Manager1 point

I Switched covers to the RNL A-Series and decided to go ahead and add on the cargo management divider. It’s definitely expensive and each person will have a different tolerance for wether it’s “worth it” or not. With that said, I really enjoy it and works well for me. I also have an undertonneau storage chest so with the cargo management I now how 3 very distinct storage areas. It works really well packing for trips and keeping things organized.1 point

It’s not about being able to afford it. The point is if a truck costs $40 to $60 thousand dollars. It’s should last longer than what his dash is doing to him. I have detailed vehicles for the past 11 years. I use a tornado car cleaning gun with a 4 to 1 ratio of simple green and I have NEVER ran into a plastic piece doing this. It needs to be replaced under factory warranty. Debating on moral or affordability is just a way for you to try and start an argument. Go watch an episode of South Park and relax.1 point

This week Range AFM disabler Airaid MIT Flowmaster FlowFX cat-back, seems to be the sound I was looking for, mild at idle and cruise, loud enough to know you are hitting the gas.1 point

Nothing money can't fix. This one is nice...... https://www.ebay.com/itm/274472453540 I've always been a fan of the El camino. A buddy had a 69 with a 396 and it would roast the tires on demand. He also had a 1960 he made into a lifted 4 wheel drive. It was pretty cool. This was back in the eighties when guys were putting Vega bodys on Bronco frames. And station wagons on pickup frames.1 point

As far as ride quality, just run the tires at 32-35 psi cold, and you'll never be able to tell the difference. Having something as critical as a tire being stronger than it needs to be is, in my humble opinion, a good thing. Sent from my SM-N970U using Tapatalk1 point

I hadn't seen this thread. Ultimately, I spend less time in general on the forum because I spent so much back in the day, in a way. When I got my 2006, I spent a lot of time getting it 'perfect' for the long haul. This site is a great resource, and obviously most of the members at the time owned GMT800s. Any upgrade you could think of had a thread. I've now owned the 2006 for over 9 years thanks to the info from the site. It has been a great vehicle, and much of that is thanks to info from here. Most members who still have 800s are done with the fun stuff and are just driving them. Ultimately, I have no interest in newer GM vehicles other than pure curiosity. They don't seem to be very reliable, and the only repetitive issue I had on my 2006 seems to be replicated (and worse) on some T1's (lookin at you, Service 4x4 [emoji23]). At the end of the day, there isn't a single segment in the car market I would pick a GM for. The competition is simply better. Things have changed, hell, FCA has the best transmission in multiple segments [emoji1787] (ZF8). The 2006's replacement will probably be a Tundra. It is US made, has a big, reliable V8 with no AFM/DOD, and has been in production long enough that parts are cheap, even with the low production volume. I know it is low tech, but I want a pickup that will easily make 200,000 miles, and I have the most confidence in the Tundra to do that. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk1 point

I found a video that explained it a little better. So the traditional isolators will work, but work better on pre 08 vehicles without the smart alternators. The DC DC battery charger is used on newer vehicles because it allows the second battery to get 100% charge. THe charger will also have the isolation feature that will prevent the main batttery from draining when vehicle is not running. The conventional isolator will not allow 100% charge and you will have less resere power than expected with whatever battery you choose. Of course the dc dc set up is like 4 xs the cost of the old school isolators. but guess it's the right way to go when your spending $500 plus on batteries. Me and my dumb ideas... CHeck out this video, a bit long, but goes into detail on all these technologies and systems.1 point

Yup....wax! Mequiars GoldClass carnauba plus, works well and lasts. Bet most people could not tell the difference between my truck and a ceramic coated truck.....unless you were maybe an expert in the field, which who really cares. Works excellent and looks unbelievable......trick is to clay mitt first so it lasts.1 point

185-195ºF is NORMAL operating temp for an automatic transmission. It runs at peak efficiency at those temps as its DESIGNED to do. I don't understand why people fell this is bad, its not. Its paranoia.1 point

All depends on driving conditions and personal preference. I drive in a lot of dust for work. Clean my dry air filter 1-2 times a year and change my cabin air filter every fall, whether I drive 25k a year (I used to) or 12k a year (as I do now).1 point

My friend just put 35x12.50R18 BFG KO2 (34.50x12.50R20) tires on her stock 18” wheels with no lift or leveling kit yet with very little to no tire rub. I just put 285/65R20 BFG KO2 (34.50x11.50R20) tires on my stock 20” wheels with no lift or leveling kit yet with very little to no tire rub. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

The very few 19 Silverados I've seen have definitely not grown on me. I just shake my head and say how pathetic looking. I've only seen one 19 Sierra so far. Meanwhile, i'm seeing a LOT of new F150s and Ram 1500s. Some new Tundras.. and once in awhile a new Titan.1 point
