New Engines?

I have been contemplating on what everyone thinks the "new" engine will be? Think we will get a direct injection something? All thoughts and articles welcome!

direct injected for sure...i'm sure the 4.3 is getting put in the graveyard as its prehistoric

I would say add DI to the current line up and would be pretty close. And probably a bigger engine for the HDs, maybe a 7.0 DI?

most commonly i think we will see a smaller displacement DI. Most smaller displacement engines with DI make more HP. I still am having a hard decision with waiting or just buying a 6.2 which when my truck is gone im sure that is what i will do

Are you talking about the traditional SBC or just a 350 ci LS type engine? Because the SBC would be a massive step backwards.

yes. agree'd the 350 is gone fellas might as well face that. Only way your going to get one of those is by a crate or a pre 99.

Dont believe technology is better...then what kind of phone or computer do you have???

I asked the same question a while back, what would be the next big block? i thought maybe the 7.0 but someone said that motor was staying with the corvette. isnt there a small diesel coming for the 1/2 ton??

DI across the board, no big displacement "big blocks", and from what I hear, possibly some turbo options. There are also a few ohc/multi vavle engines that are ready to go too.

No way the 350 was a bad engine, the 350 was the best engine GM made it was a work horse and a performer. Bring back the 4 barrel carb, nothing like the sound of a 4 barrel kicking in.

4 barrel 350's would last 80k miles getting 8 mpg, then start burning oil or just ventilate themselves with the #7 rod. And that's rocking what...150 horsepower?

You were lucky if you got 100k out of them.
