CREE 5W LED Back Up Lights Lights

on VLED's website it shows as 3156. I assume those will work? I want to get the cree with radial for reverse lights.

 

 

Check your damn bulbs. I'm getting tired of repeating myself. The manuals/listings have proven to be wrong in some cases. It takes all of two minutes.

What's Jesus have to do with it? I didn't see anywhere on this post saying that 3156 would work in a 3047 socket. Maybe I missed a page? And I am not exactly a "veteran" when it comes to lighting mods. So not everyone is like you folks and very knowledgeable on said subject. Time and patience is a virtue.

Its the same bulb, so the 3156 CREE bulb will work great in your truck. No worries there!

I ordered these from ebay about 3 weeks ago, from China. (NOTE: I didn't order the wrong lights on purpose, I have 3047 but thought all silverados came with 3156)

I got them in and tried to put them in but the base needed to be trimmed to fit the light socket. Thats when I realized I ordered the wrong part. Shipping back to China is not worth it, and I have no other vehicles that these will fit so I grabbed my dremel. I have a plastic cutting wheel attachment for it so I put it on there and stuck the lights in the socket to mark where they needed to be clearanced. I cut up one to fit, it only took 4 lines up the plastic part to make them fit. But they still didnt work when I put them in the truck.

 

Thinking I got a dud, I grabbed a 9volt battery and the thing worked with it. So I thought then that I needed to reverse the polarity of the 9 volt to match the truck, thinking that was why they werent firing in the truck. But they fired from the 9volt either way. I went back out to the truck and bent the leads in the opposite direction just to try it, and it worked!

 

So I clearanced the other bulb with my dremel and bent the leads the opposite direction and it worked too! I tested them tonite after dark and they are SUPER BRIGHT! I even pulled under an outdoor light and the backup lights were far brighter than the pole mounted light.

 

Sorry for the long post but I figured I might save someone else some money, and trouble if they ordered some cheapies from ebay!

I have had mine in for over two years with no problems. 2010 1500 Silverado Crewcab, the bulbs were 921s and are very bright. I just got the focused CREEs 5W at a local ricer shop for $20 bucks and tested them in the parking lot because they wanted to see them as well. Now all I need is a dash switch so I can flash them ar tailgaters!!!
