I have a 02 Silverado w/ a 5.3L and was wondering if a 6.0L would bolt right up without any mods? Also, what tranny would I have to use? And would I still be able to use my bully dog tuner on it? Thanks

Yes if you get the same years......as in 99-02 lq4 motor but don't expect the 4l60e to last that long without upgrades.

The LQ9 would also work as far as that programmer I would sell it to some kid who doesn't know any better and you take the money from selling that to get a real tune. You should also have a 4L80E behind a 6.0

4L80e would work, but the 4L70e that comes stock with the Vmax is just a 4L60e with upgrades :dunno: But... either way you go, you need some sort of transmission upgrade.

+1 I can speak from experience  But yes, it will bolt straight up no problems. Stick with your same year if possible, and expect to be replacing the tranny next. You can either go with a built 4l60e like I did, or do a 4l80e swap. That swap requires modifying the crossbar for the tranny to mount on as the 4l80e is longer.

If you know basic wiring it wouldn't be hard to put a newer 6.0 in...but as long as you stick with Gen III it'll be a direct swap. Also you can buy crossmembers for 4L80E swaps, they aren't expensive.

03-up will have electronic throttle control with no cable. You'll need a different gas pedal

my question is, I have been tossing around if I want to sell my truck or keep moddin and I would like to swap in the 6.0, so would my 06 need to have a new gas pedal? I do believe the throttle is electronic.
