Can I take my GMC to a Chevrolet dealership for service?

I will only go to the GMC dealer here, they will work on anything. After prior experience with the Chevy dealer with my wifes Trailblazer I won't go there again.

Yes the should work on it. GMC pickup/SUV is the same as a Chev truck/suv, or vice verse since GMC is the test bed for GM. Just badging difference. Camaro/firebird samething.

I had a 1989 GMC Jimmy I bought new. It broke down in front of a Chevy store in Bellevue, Wash so I took it in. They wouldnt touch it even though it had warranty left. Of course that Chevy dealer went out of business in the great recession.

Next time ask them to show you where in the warranty does it say you must return to a GMC dealer for warranty work.

The local GM dealer here sells Chevy, GMC and Buick and is open on Saturday morning for oil changes only.

Unless the repair is "under warrenty", I NEVER use the dealership, I have all my maintenance and repairs performed by a trusted local shop that I have been using for over 30 years. I have the receipts documented with the products used (if vehicle is under warrenty), and for my vehicle (out of warrenty) just a straight receipt with the maintenance performed.

I am a person,"that is VERY leary" of dealerships, I just plain out do not trust them.

I agree. If I'm paying I go to a trusted shop. No disrespect to anyone here who works for a dealer but my problem with the dealer is merely the prices they charge. I get charged ~$100/hr labor but the tech/worker gets paid how much maybe $25? Ridiculous! Then the price of parts vs getting the same parts/warranty online or downtown...good grief! My hub bearing at the dealer, at a discounted price, was $400 but I can get same thing down town for less than $200...and yet the military gets picked on for $300 toilet seats?

There is one dealership that I DO NOT/WILL NOT trust but that is thankfully NOT a GM dealer. That's another story...

Now to your question: You better be able to take your GMC to any "GM" dealer (Chevy/GMC/Caddy). I've done it several times throughout the years. Heck back in the 1900s I had a F... Ranger and when it was wrecked I took it to a Chevy dealership for estimates/repairs because it was the trustworthy place to take it. I ended up buying a couple of vehicles from them after that truck was totaled.
