I can tell you right now that it needs new shocks, brakes, and a front end alignment. It's to be expected though will all the miles. Let's just say I didn't buy her expecting a perfect truck, and I'm actually looking forward to fixing it up to watch it turn back into a nice truck again.

With my mortgage coming to an end and my boys nearing two, I'm thinking I'm going to need a project in the next year. I've been wanting to get a 3rd gen Camaro, and swap it to a tubular independent suspension. And rebuild the motor with some edelbrock kits, they are supposed to get well over 400HP. A few years ago a small shop was selling kits for suspension swaps on eBay for fairly reasonable prices, and a few month ago I saw several mod shops had suspension swap offerings for sale on different website. Pro Touring 3rd gen would be unique for now. Last I figured it up the project as describes would run under 10K if I used a rattle can if primer and made it a faux-junker sleeper. Basically all you need to start is a roller with a straight body, and engine and trans. Edited by SnakeEyes

You mean a 4th gen or you want to buy a 3rd gen, and swap an LT1 in it?

Hauled bikes and then some topsoil in it today. First time really using the bed but Ive only had the truck two days. It will get used and get dirty just like the Ford it replaced.

Sarah and your buddy need to find a scale, he would have to have more than a few things in there to get it to 7k. Our work truck is 9600 and it's Dodge diesel dually with a bale bed and tool boxes.

It's been on two scales before the lift it was 6700 after the lift and tires and bar etc it comes In at 7000 and a few. It's also a crew cab so you have another full seat and 100 lbs worth of stereo equipment. A dodge diesel is 9600? That's quite a bit more than 7000 so that's a poor comparison.

Not a chance it weighed that much pre lift. Even a crew cab is like 5600-5800 lbs. Add all your stuff and maybe 6k being generous. 7k isn't happening, even with a lift. A 3500 crew cab long bed dually is in the neighborhood of 8000 lbs. You mean to tell me your truck weighs within 1000 lbs of a loaded out HD truck? Nevermind that GVWR on these trucks is like 7100 lbs.

Agreed. Like I said mine was 6k with me (270 lbs) plus a loaded toolbox and lift, tires, stereo equipment, etc. I wouldnt think the crew cab can be that much heavier than my extended cab

I'm not saying you're a liar but the scale most likely is.

I feel bad for all these trucks on the road with 1000 pounds payload capacity and 2000 pounds of payload. We need to start a new rights group.

Post a pic of the screen with the truck in the background and we'll believe you. The comparison to the work truck was to illustrate how there is no way a half ton even weighs close to 7k. My truck weighs around 5400 and I don't see how another GMT800 half ton can weigh that much more.

I like the 3rd gen, their sharp looking cars.

Today I checked the brakes, and wheel bearings on the truck. Looks like someone put a new wheel hub on the passenger side because the studs look brand new. Drivers side doesn't look new, but there's no wheel wobble.

All of the brakes are shot, espically the rear drums. I figured they were by the way it was stopping. So sometime this month I'll be doing all new brakes, and fluid.
