But Obama was gonna get health insurance for all of us!

Stay safe!

The best line in the presidential campaign was when a reporter asked Ben Carson why he was against planned parenthood since they did so much for "women's health". His response was basically "Well, we don't need them anymore since we have ObamaCare."

He's the lesser of 3 evils. Our choices are:

  • The most unethical human being on planet earth, who happens to be career pathological liar with a fake personality in public
  • A socialist (he actually admits this, and yet STILL has followers!!!!)
  • An egomaniac who says he's a Conservative but believes eminent domain is good, and claims to be a Christian but knows nothing about Jesus

The 1st two are completely out of the question, and should be for anyone who claims to be an American. Cruz was my guy, but since he bailed, I've got to swallow my pride and vote Trump.

He can't be any worse than what we have now ... :nonod:

I changed stock fuel filter. Truck told me to do so 3 times yesterday. So today before starting to drive that's what I did. Apparently I had over 100k miles on the filter. Only 30k on the FASS filters. Left them alone. 700 miles today pulling no worries.

Mine is just sitting beside the garage waiting on a wheel bearing. I'm going to order one tomorrow.

My brothers is also sitting here now. Came in on a roll back yesterday because it was leaking gas everywhere. It's leaking from the top of the tank so we figure the line on the fuel pump has rusted through like it did on my parents truck.

I found all my tires low today. Front right was only at 10 PSI. The other 3 were 20-25

I looked at my truck today. Yup, just looked. Thought to myself... she sure is a nice looking truck. Now if we can just get the emissions system gremlins worked out with the DEF/DPF I would have a very nice RUNNING truck. It's a shame I live in an area that requires emissions testing. Oh she passed emissions just fine. After the dealer replaced the DEF tank under warranty. Now we gotta figure out why I'm only getting 160 miles or less before the DPF goes into regen. I should be seeing upwards of 300-400. My 08 Duramax with DPF only would only regen every 450 miles. But having a great dealership who wants to help me out is a good thing and I'll be dropping her off for them to try to diagnose the frequent regen. Thankfully GM extended the emissions system warranty on the 2010-2014 Duramax because of all the stupid issues with the DEF system.

Aside from that- I'm starting to like the Weather Tech liners more and more. The drivers side is a bit warped by the e-brake pedal, but I think I can bend it back into shape.

Thinking about giving her a good claybar and wax treatment soon.

Needs new tires before the end of the summer I think. Might be able to make it to winter if I pull the spare off and have it mounted to the rim that the right front tire is on now and move that into spare position.. Thankfully they are all the same brand and make of tire, Firestone something or another.. Were firestone factory stock tire options for 2012? I thought Firestone was in bed with Ford and GM tended to stick with Goodyear or Michigan. Er Michillan. Or whatever.

Oh. And sprained my ankle. Hurts like hell. Will be somewhat limited on what I can do around the truck for a few weeks. Heck of a time to happen too, right after I quit my job and have no health benefits until I get a new job or Cobra kicks in. My podiatrist has become a decent friend of mine so he might be able to work a deal out with me to have it looked at.

Cheers, and have a safe week, ya'll.

Firestones are the cheapest tire they put on the truck. Transforce 245/75/17.

I know someone who trades up every year. Bald tire goes under the traded in truck.

Drove down to the Tampa Bay area to do some night fishing on the skyway pier or whatever it's called. Beautiful night out, just no fish yet. Well my buddy is catching bait fish so there's that.

My ol' man's '09 was at the dealer every 150 -200 miles for the same b/s. For whatever reason, only the dealer was able to "clean" the DPF filter ... at $200 a whack. After he spent close to $2k on a truck he'd already paid close to $50-LARGE for, he threw on a '05 Duramax exhaust system and had the DPF tuned out. Instant 3 mpg gain, HUGE power increase, and no more "limp mode" whenever we towed the boat to the Cape.

I call that a "pre-programmed racket". Hell of a way for GM to make a buck.

    • No such thing as regenerative braking on a pure ICE vehicle.     Regenerative braking is the re-capture of energy from electric motors and stores it in the battery pack.  So hybrids, PHEV and EVs have regenerative braking.     What you are seeing is the charging system changing modes is all.  Its likely entering charge mode for some sort of reason is all.  All of the charging modes will be listed below.   As for L10 vs D.  L10 turns off automatic grade braking.  L10 puts you in control of grade downshifts where in D it will automatically do it based on brake pedal position and other factors.  Otherwise L10 and D drive exactly the same aside from that one aspect.    Battery Sulfation Mode The BCM will enter this mode when the interpreted Generator output voltage is less than 13.2 V for 45 minutes. When this condition exists the BCM will enter Charge Mode for 2–3 minutes. The BCM will then determine which mode to enter depending on voltage requirements.   Charge Mode The BCM will enter Charge Mode when ever one of the following conditions are met:   Windshield wipers are ON for more than 3 s. Climate Control Voltage Boost Mode Request is true, as sensed by the HVAC control module via serial data. High speed cooling fan, rear defogger, and HVAC high speed blower operation can cause the BCM to enter the Charge Mode. The estimated battery temperature is less than 0°C (32°F). Battery State of Charge is less than 80%. Vehicle speed is greater than 145 km/h (90 mph) A current sensor malfunction exists. System voltage is determined to be below 12.56 V When any one of these conditions is met, the system will set targeted generator output voltage to a charging voltage between 13.9–15.5 V, depending on the battery state of charge and estimated battery temperature.   Fuel Economy Mode The BCM will enter Fuel Economy Mode when the estimated battery temperature is at least 0°C (32°F) but less than or equal to 80°C (176°F), the calculated battery current is less than 15 A and greater than −8 A, and the battery state-of-charge is greater than or equal to 80%. Its targeted generator output voltage is the open circuit voltage of the battery and can be between 12.5–13.1 V. When fuel economy mode is active, the generator is not charging, only maintaining open circuit battery voltage. The BCM will exit this mode and enter Charge Mode when any of the conditions described above are present.   Headlamp Mode The BCM will enter Headlamp Mode when ever the head lamps are ON (high or low beams). Voltage will be regulated between 13.9–14.5 V.   Start Up Mode When the engine is started the BCM sets a targeted generator output voltage of 14.5 V for 30 s.   Tow/Haul Mode (if applicable) Pressing the Tow/Haul Mode button located on the center stack, the vehicle system voltage is raised and the remote (non-vehicle) battery will be charged. Having the headlamps on will raise the system voltage and if the Tow/Haul button is applied it will not serve any purpose. The voltage is regulated between 13.9-14.5 V.
    • Hello from Australia Just sharing that there is now a way to delete the active shutters entirely with just a plug in module. Opens up tons of room to light bars etc.
    • I have an observation and a question... 1) I watch the voltage closely because I have had to dial in the cut-in/cut-out voltages of the battery separator to my camper.  The "smart" charging drives me nuts.  Anyway, I noticed that when coasting for a while, and especially if lightly using the brakes (though not necessary), the voltage goes up from mid/high-13 volts to mid/high-14 volts.  Then it drops back down after stopping or going again.  Consistently!   The only explanation I can come up with is REGENERATIVE BRAKING!  Well, maybe that's a little bit of an exaggeration, but it's certainly free extra battery charging.   2) Driving on mountain roads I will use L and vary the max gear.  Things straighten out and I end up in L10.  Sometimes I leave it there for a while.  Is there any difference between L10 and D?
    • Do you think this width might affect the chalk test with a higher pressure closer to 65psi? I think lowering the pressure makes sense to get the tread to lay flatter
