Well then it's an issue, I hate when my vehicles drip on my beautiful white cement driveway. But it is a minor issue and not a very costly repair. If you do it yourself you're looking at maybe $20 and time, if you get it done at your corner garage maybe $100 if you get it done at the dealer you may be looking at $1,000,000.00

Seals always leak a little especially when not driven enough, check fluid levels and don't worry too much about it if it doesn't spill out. I had an S10 that leaked from the transfercase from day one, never dripped in the driveway but was always wet with what appeared a drop ready to fall. I drove that truck for 10 years and for ten years every time I took it in for inspection I asked them to check the transfer case oil level and in 10 years they never once added fluid to it and yet that droplet was always hanging there ready to fall.

Maybe you should talk to my brother about getting a Dodge or my friend Earl about getting a Ford, he's on his second new one after a buy back and still spending more time at the dealer than with his upset wife.

No comparison of today's crap compared to stuff built in the 20th Century. I used to drive vehicles leaking GALLONS of every fluid imaginable, accompanied by all kinds of evil noises, for years and years. Never left stranded, aside from a couple hot GM starters, and a few double-clamped tranny lines, or rubber fuel lines that blew off - all easily fixed on the side of the road .. sometimes with just a hammer.

Now that I just said I've never been left stranded, I just jinxed myself big time ... :uhoh: Hope I don't end up coming home ON the trailer I'm towing ... Place your bets now ....

Silverado is loaded and ready to rock! ROAD TRIP! Lexy the Black Lexus has a new owner. :D

She's a sharp looker! Looks like the female twin to my truck. Wouldn't mind grabbing something like this for the wifey, but she'll never give up her 31 year old, big American iron. Can't blame her there.

Thing goes like a bastard too! RWD! That was strange! Thought everything was FWD or AWD today.

Took me 5 solid minutes to figure out how to start the damn thing! Push button! WTF! So I push the button ... lights come on .... no start .... hmmmm ................. push button again, lights go out! WTF!! Thinking about how all modern junk has all these idiot proof safety features like the brake/shift interlock, I stepped on the brake and pressed button .... VROOOM! BAAAH, this damn modern tech .. LOL

*** LANGUAGE WARNING *** (for video link) I've got a potty mouth - sorry!

Cocked, locked, and ready to rock.

What a dummy ... HAHAHAHAHA! Don't tell anyone the "mechanic" couldn't start the car ...

Again - language warning!!

There are much more than 2. They aren't pace trucks they are utility/safety/ driver transport before the race trucks

Hopefully so. I think the 3/4 clutch pack decided they didn't like my foot anymore. Sucked to drive home in 2nd at 45 mph. It happened when I was about 30-35 miles from home

No too bad. But still didn't want to add 30 minutes to my trip and have to spend $1600 on a rebuild

800 miles, 14 hours. Wasn't TOO bad of a trip - always encounter things that defy logic when driving in the Northeast. You'd think I'd be used to that after driving here for decades, but just when you think you've seen it all ...

Guy with MA plates (figures) in a Mercedes cuts me off at last second due to a NY trooper in breakdown lane handing a ticket to someone - I saw the trooper 3 miles out! Guy waits till last second, cuts in front of me ... then jacks the brakes on - he was doing 65!! Did he think the trooper was going to drop everything, run to the car, and chase him down for doing the limit???? WT-flying-F !!! Slams on brakes and slows to 50 - I must've been 3" off that idiot's rear bumper. Was so mad I stomped it to the boards after he moved back over. Hit 98 with my car trailer, lol.

Then get into MA again, near the city ... I see this little crap econobox inches from the ICC bumper of a tractor-trailer, doing 65 in the right lane. It's twitching violently all over it's lane. Thought it was going to sideswipe the guy in front of me ..... he slows down to gawk at what that little car was doing for 3 minutes, blocking the flow in the left lane. So I start pushing the guy so he'd get the hint, and he did, thankfully - I get beside the car, and there's this 60 year old woman that looked like she just finished a meth session, tapping away at her stupid assed phone!! I couldn't believe it!! She's gonna kill someone ...

Other than that, it was a pretty relaxing trip. Not much traffic on 90 in western NY.

Roads were ABSOLUTELY COVERED in brine!! That's that liquid shit that's 10x worse than road salt - was all over the highway in preparation for the blizzard that's nailing us right now as I type. Never seen roads this white in my life! NY is insane. No wonder cars only last 5 years there before the undercarriage is a rotted out hulk ...

Saw SEVERAL convoys of utility crews headed eastbound. They mobilized to get ahead of the storm, apparently. I bet I passed over 500 trucks, all in different waves, both when I was headed west, and when I was coming back east.

Emptied my catch can 3 times! Thing was OVER 3/4 full of milk that was mostly water. Never seen it build that much water that quick! Was 4° all morning, and didn't see 30° until the last leg of our trip just outside our town.

Forgot my good camera, so all I've got are pics from my 9 year old flip phone.

Truck hit a milestone yesterday too.

Today I sold a 2003 cluster I had because I can't find the problem with his original cluster. It stays on with ignition off and originally had all the pixels on in the odometer display ''ON'', should have taken a picture of it but was too into it. Now it's on but everything is off, so it's drawing about 450 ma but nothing is working. I like working on clusters and I wish I could get the schematic diagram so I could trace signals. I'll keep at it an hour here and hour there and I'll eventually find the problem, then I'll replace the motors and LED it in warm white and put it up for sale on Kijiji. Hopefully the mileage is low...( easier to sell ).

One step ahead 2 step back, got the 40 volt supply to work but my pixels are back fully on and half the timer works, after about 25 seconds it drops to 230 ma now. I'll get it, I will persevere and prevail.

    • Congratulations Isttype, on your gmc. Really like my 2024 2500hd sle doublecab now with 85,500 miles.  I checked the oil today at 4800 miles since last oil change and barely reading on the stick.  I don't care if GM says it's Acceptable adding a quart every 2000 miles because that is 100% BS, It is not a 1966 Harley Shovelhead! Sounds like it's setting up a future failure like I had with my 1500 6.2l. Other than oil consumption problems, I really like the 6.6l gas and 10 speed is really nice.  Towed a light 4000 pound trailer last week and averaged 14 mpg.  I was pretty impressive that a 7300 pound gas truck did 14mpg towing, Later-
    • Long Term Cold Cycle Limited Testing   Back to the 1990's and XOM's million mile test. Since then there have been others and there will be more. Schaeffer's, AMSOIL to name two. Of these Schaeffer's is the stand alone which I will explain in a bit later.    http://papers.sae.org/600190/:   http://papers.sae.org/850215/:   Up to 75% of  engine wear occurs on cold starts. These two links (above) provide the technical reasons for engine wear. In a nut shell, and by a large margin, cylinder wear is what takes out most motors and even with a pre-oiling system that part of the engine is dry enough on cold starts and cold warm up to pierce Stribeck.   So when you put a motor, or a car, on a dyno for a million miles stopping only for oil changes, (yes fuel is uninterrupted) or break down maintenance, you are depriving the test of the most important part of it's wear cycle. Yes a million is then a pretty easy walk even for a mineral oil under those conditions.    How about cleanliness during the long test cycles? Same thing. Varnishes that stick rings and insulate parts are laid down by repetitive 'heat cycles'. It's the cool down the precipitates the varnishes. These long runs also hinder acidic attack caused by cold start richness and less than optimal cold start ring sealing. They hinder water formation and enhance breathing of the crankcase; the petri dish of acid formation, the first step in sludge formation, amalgamation and precipitation. These motors are also monitored and controlled for water and oil temperatures to within the "normal operating range".      https://www.swri.org/sites/default/files/sequence-iiih-test.pdf Note the test sequence in some boutique oils literature for testing, API IIIH, is not the standard used for the ILSAC G7 testing. Does that mean it is irrelevant? No, not as used. As used as a 'visual guide' it makes it's point. The G7 weighted piston deposit minimum is lower.      Back to Schaeffer's. That was a cyclical test of an engine in fleet service and not a dyno mule and if you saw the video it was not mirror clean but wear was low.    There are oils like BioSyn and other 'Renewable" source oils that taught cleanliness and have proven themselves in fleet testing. Havoline an other example.    The newest ILSAC G-7 test prioritize cleanliness, LSPI mitigation and fuel economy OVER WEAR. In comparison Porsche C30 Specification Verses ILSAC G-7 Specification below:      Some will balk that this graph isn't apples to apples and I will challenge that in that this graph represent the SPECIFICATION and not the any One Oil Performance.   It is absolutely possible to minimize wear, maximize cleanliness and mitigate LSPI etc., It just isn't cheap and currently I see none that are not walking toward profit over performance.
    • I don't think you will need a split, separate product, etc., the OBD port should be able to deliver everything you need. Since your device would be plugged into it all the time, it wouldn't miss anything.    Hardware in this case will be the easiest part of your project - ELM 327 devices will already deliver all the data you need. Reporting/software is where your advantage/marketability is.
    • I do too. I’ll never be stuck again 😂
    • It has happened to me a few times. I carry a jumpstart-tire inflator with me.
