Installed my intune I2. I was able to tune the engine but it gave me a message that said the TCM (8 speed) couldn't be tuned. ( 2015 6.2 ) the Intune said it could read the tcm and download the file to send to Diablosport so I tried 4 times but it kept freezing up. Never getting above 28%. Grrrr!!!!

I noticed a little difference with the 93 tune and bumping the throttle response by 10%. It really goes when you drop the hammer . Now if I could only time this 8 speed!!

Swapped out the passenger front door lock actuator. Pretty easy to do thankfully. Finally swapped out one of my aux light switches for one that correctly says they are the front lights instead of "bed lights." Door panels are pretty dirty hopefully next weekend I'll do some cleaning on it.

Checked oil. Been running the 0W-30. No more cold start lifter tick.

My buddy and I drained the coolant, his F150 doesn't have a drain plug on the radiator either, put fresh stuff in. Did the rear diff fluids on both as well. Again he didn't have a drain plug so in the time it took for his to be vacuumed/sucked out with his fancy contraption we pretty much had mine drained and refilled. Checked his rear brakes and then moved to the fronts. His front stuff was pretty rust welded on. He had to literally beat his rotors with a hammer multiple times to get them to come off.

Just out of curiosity anyone know what the torque spec is for the rear diff drain plug? I know this is a cheap no name extension but still. I'm pretty sure it also broke the impact rated extension we used as well since that snapped trying to take a lug nut off his truck.

Hit 80k when I pulled into work. Only 20k left on my extended and powertrain warranties, so if something wants to let loose hopefully it's soon. Besides the truck burning between a quart or 2 of oil between changes I'm very pleased with it. Has good power, rides pretty nice, tows like a champ, and is nice and quiet in the cab.

Got a complement from my brother in law the other day. First time riding in my truck and he kept looking in the back seat like he was looking for something. I asked him if he dropped something and he said "No, I'm just blown away by how much room you have in your back seat area and on the floor." He has a 2015 F250 King Ranch with the underseat storage. Not much room in those trucks compared to our K2's. Gotta love getting a compliment from a die hard Ford lover, his family all drives Ford's and they always compliment on the truck when I'm over at their farm

My son and I washed my truck on Thursday, for a parade on Saturday. Tried to post pictures from the parade on Saturday, afterwards, but all of my pictures were "too big."

 

Edwards AFB Community Queen Court (Miss Edwards AFB, Teen Miss Edwards AFB, Junior Miss Edwards AFB, Young Miss Edwards AFB, & Tiny Miss Edwards AFB) had requested the use of my truck for the Cherry Blossom Parade, in Leona Valley, CA, on 3 June.

 

LATER THIS MORNING, I will be getting my oil changed and any other 33,000 miles PMs.

Looking for a replacement rear bumper, painted black. Just need the bumper painted to match, I can add all the brackets and step pads from my old bumper. This is what happens when you cut it too tight when backing up a tongue pull trailer.

 

Looks like I can get a badass aftermarket rear bumper for about the same price, hmmm

Used her as a workbench, as usual. Haven't even started her in 2 weeks. Reminds me, I should throw my charger on her today.

 

Neighbor gave me his boss' POS 4-stroke leaf blower to repair. Cleaned carb and tank, then checked the oil before I fired it up. Sump was GRAY! Looks like the oil hadn't been changed since it was new in '10. Poured a little 5w-30 in just to dilute it a bit, and thin it out. Fired it up - unimpressive power. So I dumped the oil and got some Amsoil Small Engine oil in there, and checked the valves - both were 5x out of spec! After that, she fired up and ran great ... for 30 seconds, then grenaded in my hands lol. It's sitting in the back of the truck in a million pieces. Not even worth fixing. Instant paperweight.

 

The wrist pin bearing was so worn out, it couldn't handle the extra power of finally running correctly - piston hit combustion chamber, and cracked it right along the ring land.

 

Why people buy 4-stroke handheld equipment is beyond me. Proof that a good salesman could sell sand to a beach. 2-strokes are cheaper, lighter, have more power per cc displacement, easier & cheaper to repair, and zero maintenance (aside from cleaning the exhaust port & piston crown every 5-10 years if you run cheap oil).

Changed the rear u joint on front drive shaft. Good thing I had access to a press, though probably should of put more heat on first. Old u joint popped pretty hard.

 

Changed driver side rear tire with one with slightly more tread. Have different set up front, trying to get the most life out of the tires.

I remember the first time I ever did one of those - I couldn't figure out what the hell was holding the bearing caps in the yoke! I did after I forced them out cold, though! Bent my BJ press, AND the driveshaft! Then I couldn't get the retainers into the new caps, since the shaft was bent. Got pissed off, forced them in the best I could, and ran it.

 

About 3k miles later, at 10pm after a long day at work, the thing let go at 50 MPH! Bashed the crap out of the muffler and anything else nearby. I yanked the shaft, threw it in back, and drove home in 4x4, leaving a 1/4 mile trail of tranny fluid. :lol:

Had a '99 with 506 miles on it. Was thinking "woohoo! break-in competed" when the rear shaft rear u-joint let go at about 75mph. Boy oh boy, talk about vibration....mirrors were a blur but could see I was trailing what looked like smoke. Eased to the shoulder and shut it down, looked underneath to see tranny fluid gushing out onto ground. Rut row!! Bent drive shaft, ripped the side out of the transfer case, busted rear spring shackle, elongated the spline hole in the rear end and other things I can't remember. Dealer was a pain, instead of just looking around to see what got broke I had to go back every time I found something else...took about a year to finally get it all done.

 

Just rolled over 501 miles on the '17 2500 today......

    • So, do I go elbow-deep on this thing or list it for sale and play dumb? Seems to "runs good."   I'm about $1200 away from having: -a rebuilt injector ($300) -a new cat ($250) -a new cat back exhaust (OE style) ($300) -a new AC compressor ($200) -AC refrigerant charge ($150)   In theory, this should rectify the obvious detracting issues from its value and operability. Cold AC with a non-squeaking AC pulley both sounds and feels good. An exhaust that isn't cut/hacked in 17 different places and doesn't vibrate on a crossmember would make it sound and feel less janky. A working cat would help the stink, and will save the earth, but *if and only if* the fuel system is working properly, which would also address the intermittent "rich" CEL.   Heard a good one... CEL for "Rich condition" means you haven't spent enough money on the truck lately, and it's letting you know.   Rebuilding the injector would seem to be the most important part. Replacing the cat would be secondary. I don't think mine is plugged or overly restricted, but it might be a little restricted? I have no good way to tell other than seat of the pants feel. I hate the smell.   The current theory is I have a rich idle problem: A bad fuel pressure regulator, or a leaking injector(s) being the highest probabilities. I already replaced the FPR but that doesn't mean its replacement isn't also bad. It was a new part from Dorman, but the packaging looked like it had been sitting on a shelf for 20 years.   This is the (single) upstream O2 sensor shown at idle. I'm getting a lot of "rich" it seems. Sometimes it stays high like that and doesn't drop down. That makes me think it's processing injector leaks or a partially stuck open injector.     Other times it looks like this. Nice oscillations between rich and lean, which is what I think it should be. Under load and at speed, the oscillations are nice and tight and uniform looking, high and low.     Fuel trims suggest the PCM is compensating pretty hard at idle to pull fuel out. But it's not enough to trip a CEL. Something about slowing to a stop: brake vaccum booster, EGR, or the EVAP purge is delayed, or there's pooled fuel in the intake again that's draining into a cylinder is enough to set the CEL. Of course, in two days of driving, it hasn't set. I was hoping to actually look at the freeze-frame data when it sets. IAT is high because it's idling on an 83 degree day here.  
    • Have considered installing a DC to DC charger in your camper to replace your isolator?  
    • Common failure.  You need to replace the fuel door housing.   The painted cover transfers over to the new housing.  To remove the old one there is 4 spots where you poke the plastic to release it.  
    • No such thing as regenerative braking on a pure ICE vehicle.     Regenerative braking is the re-capture of energy from electric motors and stores it in the battery pack.  So hybrids, PHEV and EVs have regenerative braking.     What you are seeing is the charging system changing modes is all.  Its likely entering charge mode for some sort of reason is all.  All of the charging modes will be listed below.   As for L10 vs D.  L10 turns off automatic grade braking.  L10 puts you in control of grade downshifts where in D it will automatically do it based on brake pedal position and other factors.  Otherwise L10 and D drive exactly the same aside from that one aspect.    Battery Sulfation Mode The BCM will enter this mode when the interpreted Generator output voltage is less than 13.2 V for 45 minutes. When this condition exists the BCM will enter Charge Mode for 2–3 minutes. The BCM will then determine which mode to enter depending on voltage requirements.   Charge Mode The BCM will enter Charge Mode when ever one of the following conditions are met:   Windshield wipers are ON for more than 3 s. Climate Control Voltage Boost Mode Request is true, as sensed by the HVAC control module via serial data. High speed cooling fan, rear defogger, and HVAC high speed blower operation can cause the BCM to enter the Charge Mode. The estimated battery temperature is less than 0°C (32°F). Battery State of Charge is less than 80%. Vehicle speed is greater than 145 km/h (90 mph) A current sensor malfunction exists. System voltage is determined to be below 12.56 V When any one of these conditions is met, the system will set targeted generator output voltage to a charging voltage between 13.9–15.5 V, depending on the battery state of charge and estimated battery temperature.   Fuel Economy Mode The BCM will enter Fuel Economy Mode when the estimated battery temperature is at least 0°C (32°F) but less than or equal to 80°C (176°F), the calculated battery current is less than 15 A and greater than −8 A, and the battery state-of-charge is greater than or equal to 80%. Its targeted generator output voltage is the open circuit voltage of the battery and can be between 12.5–13.1 V. When fuel economy mode is active, the generator is not charging, only maintaining open circuit battery voltage. The BCM will exit this mode and enter Charge Mode when any of the conditions described above are present.   Headlamp Mode The BCM will enter Headlamp Mode when ever the head lamps are ON (high or low beams). Voltage will be regulated between 13.9–14.5 V.   Start Up Mode When the engine is started the BCM sets a targeted generator output voltage of 14.5 V for 30 s.   Tow/Haul Mode (if applicable) Pressing the Tow/Haul Mode button located on the center stack, the vehicle system voltage is raised and the remote (non-vehicle) battery will be charged. Having the headlamps on will raise the system voltage and if the Tow/Haul button is applied it will not serve any purpose. The voltage is regulated between 13.9-14.5 V.      
    • Hello from Australia Just sharing that there is now a way to delete the active shutters entirely with just a plug in module. Opens up tons of room to light bars etc.
