Can't wait till this new 6.2 comes out. It will be very interesting to see just how much better it is then the current generation. Should be fun once this engine makes its way into the trucks as well.

Look at the first video and at 1 minute it looks like a tt v6 on the engine tilt stand ??? I know its early but am im missing something here ??? Air intakes coming up both sides, what looks like a waste gate actuator and turbo housing the tech is working on ?

It's almost hard to believe that GM is still pushing this shitty AFM on everybody. You would think by now that they have learned their lesson with these trucks alone. What a way to destroy a 6.2L engine. Way to go GM, you'll pay for it in the end.....wait, we will all pay since GM gets our tax money.

Also noticed that there is no more Mobil 1 specific engine oil fill cap, just a giant Dexos stamp. Wonder if they switched brands of factory fill oil?

AFM is hardly a failure- 5.3s are produced two to one over every other GM V8. And driving with 6th locked out in town keeps it off. On the highway, just drive aggressive, it works for me.

Thanks for all the great info here! I can't wait to hear the specs on the new truck engines.

WOW......Apparently you don't read anything I ever posted or you are confused?

Sorry AFM is not a good thing that's my opinion, I own 2 trucks with it and had it tuned out because it makes the truck run like crap.

There is nothing negative about what I posted, just pointing out what I saw.

Please keep the AFM good/bad debate out of this thread. AFM is loved by many and hated by many more... but it's here to stay.

Thanks Mervz, all very good info. Looks to be a very promising engine. Yes, you are right, AFM is here to stay, and it looks like they addressed some of the issues in the valve cover re-design on this engine. I am still glad it is not on my 6.2..... LOL

Don't get me wrong. I don't wanna mess up the thread.

But the new engine comes with the AFM. It was a big issue in the past and GM did not acknowledge the problem.

Otherwise they would have said that the new engine is redesigned and the problem with the oil consumption is solved.

I mean they KNOW that there are a lot of unhappy customers out there just because of that problem.

To make my point...when GM offers no more engines w/o AFM I'll consider to buy my next truck somewhere else.

The sad thing is that I actually like the idea of the AFM and I like GM trucks.

Love the new engine, hate the fact that it has AFM. I will not own another one equipped with it. My .02...
