I have a 2 mile 30mph drive with lights to work right now. With that, highway, and dirt road driving with lots of AC, I've been averaging over 15 mpg, which I think is good. Pickup really seems to like the fuel it's been getting. It's hard to keep my foot out of it.

My adverage in the Toyota is 33mpg with lots in town and idling. My Santafe and the wife's Geneses would get about 25-28 under the same conditions. I'll take the V6 HP, for a few less Mpgs. On the hwy, the toy got 34, my Hyundais get 30. The need to put a little boost on the toy, otherwise wind noise and ride was very good, much improvement over the geo prizum we had years ago.

I pull down 33 mpg in the Cruze, and I'm not real easy on it either. Before I added the 18's I was getting over 35.

Only thing I own that gets that kind of mileage is a motorcycle.

Went to take the truck to meet the Fiancé today, and it looks like the A/C has taken a dump on me as far as putting out cold air. I'm going to get some freon with dye in it this weekend to see if I have a leak which I'd almost have to. I bet it's either the condensor leaking or it's so old and dirty that it's not being efficient. A new Denso one on Rock Auto is about $60.

Walking down a industrial area street yesterday, I passed about 30 businesses in 20 minutes. Kept wondering if one of those would be something I would like better than the wretched company and managers I work for. Also thinking I should put an ad on Craigslist for 4th gen Camaro AC overhaul. Those guys wanted too much for labor. I could make $300 in a days work and undercut them considerably.

 

Glad I at least saved some more to prepare for whenever I do head for Greener pastures.

I was inspecting the AC line the shop welded(but I'm replacing anyway) and guess what?

 

 

The orifice tube is missing. Thinking about giving them a call. Glad I decided to do it myself.

 

The service port caps are missing also, but I had ordered new ones anyway.

They don't cool very well without that very important device ...

 

Caps are considered part of the system too - pretty much guaranteed a slow-leaker without them.

Go to finally wash my truck today, I've neglected it now for a month with all the yard work I have been doing including hauling dirt, gravel and concrete blocks, there's been no time for my truck.

If anyone has seen news, there is a massive fire down the road from me. Im been burning for over 24 hours, over 100 homes destroyed, 19,000 acres burned, and im waiting for it to come west. Still 0% containment, so in the next couple days i might have to leave at the rate it is burning. That Erskine fire just lit up and went. Sheriff's are treating it as a homicide/arson investigation.
