Well they actually recommend (and sell) the router I have so no issues there. My TiVo set up has 6 tuners and cost me $4 a month for cable cards(they paid for themselves long ago). The cable dvr with six tuners and use in two rooms costs $38 dollars a month. Of course they don't keep anyone versed enough in cable cards to diagnose problems.

I'm debating just cancelling the appointment and ordering the cable co junk. If they can't fix it this time I'm wondering if I'll get charged. They have already said they think it's a TiVo issue, even though two different models(not even just different units, they are different generations of TiVos) got the same problem on the same day. This visit is for the tech to chat with TiVo support during the visit. Yaaaaay.

Hope it's not just somebody that played with parental control and accidentally locked out the channel they were on.

I got good and bad news. They had the same tech scheduled today, he called and said they now have 4 people with the exact same problem in the area. One of the affected is one of their Engineers(lol, he doesn't like their own cable box either). He said he doesn't have a fix yet so he wanted to know if I wanted them to show up, I said no point in wasting everyone's time. He said they have the right people on the problem so it shouldn't take long to fix it.

That said, whenever one of my TiVos dies, it won't be replaced. Cable cos are too good at ruining it for the independent people.

At least you can get one! Our communist, idiot state government in MA unconstitutionally, and unilaterally, without ONE vote from the people, decided to ban every "black, scary gun". Bunch of limp-wristed morons running this state (and voting, as we just saw ...). Rumor has it the Republican governor was in on it.

Totally unconstitutional, yet, the law still stands in MA. Nobody can buy a new one, or bring any into the state, and nobody dares find out what the state gov't will do if you don't obey. All the gun-rights organizations in the state are telling people not to even bring theirs out of their houses, because the way the law is worded, you could be in violation just for possession. :banghead:

Democrats!!!! :mad::mad::mad:

I hear you'll have to pass a background check in California soon just to buy ammo.

Went to the SWAT Roundup yesterday with my buddy. He wanted to get a plate carrier to keep in his trunk for active shooter calls. I tried to buy an LCP II twice but the first one didn't have stock on hand and I didn't see the point in waiting. Second booth was even cheaper but I don't have creds so he couldn't sell to me at the cheap price. However I did get a new knife. I didn't "need" another gun or knife but there it is lol

We didn't even watch the SWAT teams compete either. Last time I remember going was 10 years ago, think we went with his dad.

Just some random thoughts.

1. It's finally snowing here in Denver. First snow of the season! YAY! Very late, very dry, but glad to see some. Pray for more. Ski resorts need it and if you boneheads out in southern Utah, Nevada, Arizona, and California want drinking water come next year, ya'll better hope we get a lot of snow in the Colorado Rockies this winter.

2. We like to bitch and complain a lot when things don't go right on our new trucks. We are pissed because we spend so much $$$ on a truck and we expect it to not have the kinds of problems that they do. Yet, are there any guarantees that things won't have problems, regardless of how much we spend on em? I don't know of any. I often have to wonder if the boneheads there at GM or the other auto manufactures read these various brand specific forums and end up huffing and puffing and snorting coke and other stuff and say in essence" "Ha, you stupid fools think you can do better? Come work for us then and show us how it's done. Otherwise shut up and just live with it, we're doing the best we can."

3. I've been avoiding the news sites for the past few days because of how fed up I am with all the political hog wash over Trump being elected president and all the cry baby sissies out there who have a problem with it. I don't like Trump. I don't like Clinton. I didn't vote for either, I felt good about who I voted for. They didn't win. Oh well. Trump won, he will be our president, if you live in the United States. Yes, our president. Yours and Mine. You can try to deny it all you want by wearing a "NOT MY PRESIDENT!" T-Shirt, but it doesn't change the facts. Get over it. For those of you who voted for him, good job. For those who didn't, well don't worry I am sure he'll continue to shoot himself in the foot and say things that make him look like a bigger idiot, so you'll have plenty to laugh and cry over. But whats done is done. Let it be.

4. Mods may now delete this comment for it being off base with the political BS.

5. Go Avalanche. Who gives a damn about some silly football team named the Broncos. I sure don't.

6. Cheers

If a GM executive said that to me, I'd punch him right in the F@#$ING face. I'd ask him, "Have you ever had to turn a wrench on the S$#T you create? Until you do, get to work designing something BETTER." They aren't getting another DIME out of me, that much I an assure them of.

Everything else, I can agree with you on. I think ... :D

Don't mind me. I'm just itching to punch someone after the week I've had. Parts made in china that don't even match, yet have the same part number, incompetent MORONS in auto parts stores that can't read, convenience store clerks that also cannot read ... or SEE (how do you get GIFT card from the words, SMART PAY CARD??? WTF'inF), and people who feel the need to drive at 15 miles an hour UNDER the speed limit ... when the speed limits in the state are already ridiculously low in most locations, having been written in the 1920's, when the automobile was just coming of age. GRRR!

I'm gonna get back to installing the mismatched KYB shocks in this '88 Trooper, that have the exact same part number. Guess there's no guarantee they will be manufactured in the same century today ...

Engineers don't care. I had the pleasure of being stuck in business class with a Lockheed Engineer. I just happen to be a hydraulic tech who worked on a Lockheed airframe. It was 6 hour flight and I had access to alcohol. He found out what pain they cause the techs, and I saw a little into why things are designed the way they were

    • Mobil up another dime this am , $3.89, others will probably go up later. Any ideas on the reason for the increase other than greed? I've been working 14 hour days and haven't caught the news in a few days.
    • AMSOIL SS is about prevention and it is very good at it's job. I've never seen it claim to be a cleaner however like Valvoline R&P. Almost any oil that has some Ester or Alkylated Naphthalene in sufficient quantity will do a good job at keeping the rings functional.     I see the market splint among these types in two groups; those that use the same tech in every weight grade and those that reserve the tech for the EPA (EPA) friendly grades. Mobil 1 for example keeps the Advanced Clean chemistry out of the SAE 40 and up weights. Other like HPL (top shelf group and No-VII), Red Line HP, TORCO, MPT30K use the tech in all grades. Just not something the Wally World oils are into.

    • True. My statement needs qualification. "For a shade tree mechanic, re-assembling the front engine to achieve a rough baseline timing of 0 degrees, as is approximated and indicated by common visual indicator mark alignment, measured with a human eye capable of 20/20 vision *with correction, I am reasonably confident that I have followed the outlined procedures/ prescribed methods for verifying baseline timing."   😉   In the end, the computer sets the timing, it's continuously variable based on sensor input, and the distributor only has a degree or two of physical adjustability intended for dialing in the final setting for cam ****** once everything is back together. But even that final value is acceptable within, I believe, +/- 3 degrees.   I thought my exhaust project was going to be a bear. To my surprise, the old clamps came right off last night, and I was able to unbolt all the hangers instead of having to muscle the rubber mounts. The old cat is ready to slip off the factory y-pipe. The rest is ready to come out with one or two cuts, and I've got a fresh blade waiting. I love living where rust isn't a thing.
