No one knows fear until they are violated. It takes many forms one is home invasion. My homes been robed, it's a helpless feeling no one can explain unless you're experienced it, especially if you have a family. We have two little barking dogs that stay in the kitchen at night. I can promise this you come in my house at night your going down. No question asked. People who know me have been warned call first or risk death. Harsh maybe but till you been violated you don't know.

Saw this last night at work. I was happy to see that he was able to successfully protect his family without injury. Sucks that now him and his family will be in the media for doing what is right. Wish them the best.

I'm just wondering though how different this conversation would be if it was one of your son's that had somehow been coerced into doing this and got killed. I'm not defending the perpetrators here just theorizing.

That is called an excuse.

 

Well, I have never hung out with guys that would have done anything like that. I knew guys like that(went to a high school of 2000 kids) and never tried to be around guys like that. In fact, I sat next to a guy in multiple classes that was almost always high, probably tried every drug known to man. He was a fun and entertaining guy, but never saw him outside of school or even tried to.

 

There used to be a guy named Neil Boortz that had a radio show and I loved his saying "wherever you are at in your life is the sum of all the choices YOU made". He did not say all your choices reflect exactly who you ARE, but they do reflect WHERE you are.

 

Example:

I'm at a job I hate run by corrupt structure. I didn't make the corruption, but I choose to work there years ago.

 

 

Remember the other story I posted a few days ago where the woman got mowed over by a police cruiser? The family spoke out. Summary is "we are sorry she had to die but she made her choices, started drugs and we didn't get her to turn her life around. We understand what happened and a choice had to be made to protect others".

 

NOW that is a intelligent and rational family that didn't make excuses.

A better question, would be how would I feel if I'd been the next house, and one of my kids had been killed or raped? Glad they protected themselves.

I remeber reading an news report from Atlanta last year. 18 year old male had two employees in a dollar store sitting in the execution position. Customer walks in or runs out to his car (can't remember), takes his gun shoots and kills the teenager. The "victims" mother blames the man with the gun for her sons death and says he should go to jail for murder. She conveniently forgets the fact her son had two innocent workers in an execution position with a gun to the back of thier heads. It really is a tragedy that someone had to die but in life we all make choices both good and bad. Some people take them to an extreme and they better be ready to accept the consequences. It also comes down to parenting today as well. Too many parents out there believe it can never be their kid, its not their fault kids fault and so on. Growing I thought my dad was a real son of a bitch at times. But looking back even at the age of 27 I can see he was protecting me from making poor choices in life. That's the job of a parent. I know if I died endangering someone else's life my parents would be extremely sad but they wouldn't blame others. They'd blame me first off and then themselves because they would wonder where they went wrong in raising me.

Call me what you want, but if more of this kind of thing would take place we would have far less crime. The way I look at it, these guys got what was coming to them. It is time the criminals live in fear, not the other way around.

Have seen it happen. About 7 years ago there was an epidemic of home invasions in Tulsa. I'm talking violent invasions weekly. It was so bad in the nicer part of town an elderly woman in a new Mercedes saw me filling up my work truck and asked me to wait around until she was done with her car(in broad daylight), she was so scared. Then, over the course of a month like 5 Invaders in three different events got filled with lead, and then, suddenly the invasions stopped.

My son's wouldn't make poor choices in life that put them in this position.

It’s called consequences for your actions. If the same kids went out, got wasted, then one coerced the other to drive and killed a family of four and themselves, would you still view it the same way? Still one bad decision, still could have been “good kids” other than this one lapse of judgement, right? My father always told me there are consequences for all your actions and decisions, and that you will be forced to live with whatever those may be. Well, these folks decided it would be a good idea to break into a house. The consequence was that on the other side there was a gun owner ready to use his American right to protect his home.

Oh, no, it's waaaay more involved than that. It sounds like she may have gotten away of she wanted to.

Really don't have a lot of crime around there, but when they do, it's the crazy stories that make national headlines. Remember this? 10 minutes away. And this town was ranked a few years ago nationally as one of the safest towns in the nation. I don't think there have ever been double digit homicides in the history of the town.
