2014 HDs

Ya the top kick didn't sell, ford has that class of vehicle on lock down

GM failed at marketing the 45/5500's. The first two years had some wiring issues, but after that were pretty good trucks.

However, few dealers actually stocked &/or serviced them. THEN when things went to crap in 08 & they cut them, they also cut parts further. Know a guy down south that gave up trying to find specific D/max parts for those trucks. He said injectors & a couple other things were specific to that series & did not cross from the 23/3500 motors.

Maybe they will revive those in this next generation with better dealer support?

Actually Ford has been having their clocks cleaned by Ram in class 4 and 5 lately. Guess all those bad Powerstrokes caught up with them, while Ram gives truck fleets the same Cummins engine they may have in their Freightliners, or oddly enough their Ford 650's and 750's! In class 6 and 7, Ford has slipped badly against Freightliner and International in recent years.

There are still rumors GM will have at least a class 4/5 (4500/5500) in the future, though maybe not at the time the K2XX HD's are introduced next year. And, you don't know what might come out of the renewed relationship with Isuzu......

I went to the Chevy web site and looked at ordering a 2014 2500HD - only three body styles (std cab long box, and Crew cab std and long box) at two trims - WT and LT. Also a very limited number of options too - just like the new 1500 series.

Could it be that with the new double cab in the 1500 series that a new 2500 HD series could be right behind it? Reports that dealers can now order limited numbers of the new double cab 1500's are in.

We have already speculated that the HD chassis will not change so just a change in cab and interiors - the new interiors are ready - and perhaps the exterior will not really change that much either.

Well the new HDs have been spotted in camo so I'm guessing there are some differences. Probably like the 900 series where it isn't anything terribly drastic.

Dealer near me already has some 14 2500 cc 4x4's on the lot. My bet is that the 14 will be a short production run and the new 15's will be out around the first of the year.

I hope GM has enough 6.2L available for the Silverado 1500,2500,3500,and the Suburban 2500 I do not see a 6.2L in the Tahoe. I just do not see it towing north of 10,000 on a Tahoe platform. That is Suburban terriority..Also will the 6.2L be a natural gas truck in the 2500-3500 series trucks? Also GM starting today 8/22 has put 3500.00 rebate on remaining 2013 HD Crew's 2500.00 and on ExtCab 2500.00.Also 3500 as well.

The story I am hearing is the L96 iron block 6.0L will continue in the 2015 HD's. Supposedly, one of the reasons is because that engine is compatible with CNG/LNG fuel. Sounds like CNG will not work with direct injection.

That might be the case, for I myself wondered if the new L86 would be CNG compatible. My thinking on this is that the L86 would compete better in the base 3/4 ton market with Ford 6.2L and Ram's new 6.4L going in as a optional gas in their 3/4 tons. They are expanding there gas markets to offer a gas version work truck that will meet the demand of a trailer weight of 10,000 lbs ball/hitch,and get very good results fuel mileage wise. GM knows they need to compete better in the work truck market, and using a L86 6.2L with cylinder deactivation is the way to advertise better fuel mileage,in the 3/4 ton market gas version. It makes no sense to redesign a truck and keep the L96 when you have greater torque and better fuel mileage with a L86. And option a set of gears like 3:73,and a 4:10 with the current 6 speed until a 8 speed is available,if the trend heads toward 8 speeds in the 3/4-1 ton market.
