Put some miles on the new 2014

We'll yesterday I got a chance to put some miles on the new truck. I have a total of about 1200 miles now and traveled 400 of them yesterday. Let me start by saying I'm never in a race to get anywhere and drive about 5 over the posted speed limit most times. Yesterday on my short trip (all highway miles) I was averaging 22.6 mpg. That's also gas with no ethanol. Now I don't buy trucks for gas millage and never will but its always a bonus to have 355 hp v8 that gets that kind of mileage. I know there are a lot of people that don't like the AFM out there but I have really never had a problem with it other than my last several trucks seemed like it could have been tuned better. The 2014 rides like no other truck on the market and the quietest too. The fender wheels clean up nice after a little road silt and mud.

Nice to see the truck is getting advertised mpg right away. Will probably get even better after a few thousand miles

Yeah I thought so too. Also never really seen vehicles get so close to what the stickers in the windows say. I don't see it changing much more everything should be good and loose by now.

I read in a magazine once that it takes at least 5,000 miles for a small block V8 Chevy to get broken in. Sharp truck by the way!

Thanks! Didn't know that always figured for sure after 3000 and a oil change all was safe for me to really test acceleration haha.

I think I was running my plenty hard enough around 3000 so I would say it's fine. I think mine felt like it was still breaking in until 10,000 because the more miles i put on it, it seemed to run better and better.

What speeds were you running and what rear end gear do you have?

Between 65 and 75...3.42 ratio

That's some impressive mileage! Only way I can get that kind of mileage is coasting down a steep hill, haha. Then at the bottom reality kicks in and the $ starts waving goodbye again.

Haha yeah I know we have two bridges here in town quite tall ones too. On the way up like 5 mpg on the way down 99 mpg.

What kind of mileage are you getting in town Gabe? I have the 2014 All Terrain and it seems like the mileage is actually getting worse since I first got it. Im only getting about 13.5 to 14 in town. Thats pretty far off from the 16 on the sticker. Of course Im getting these numbers from the computer as I havent even had it long enough to fill up the tank yet. Hopefully it will be better than the actual Dic is showing when I fill up the tank.

My 2014 Chevy is getting around 17 in the city. I keep up with traffic at red lights. I don't really baby it. Does 18-19 on interstate going 75 and 22-23 going 60. It has a tad over 800 miles on it. This is all off the DIC. I haven't used the calculator yet. I live in Louisiana and there aren't any hills.

Ive always heard it was 100K. I seemed to get a tick better when my last truck reached 100K. Had 96 2500 with the 350 that got 15mpg concistantly, then started getting 17 once it got about 115K on the clock. Then I wrecked it and threw the aerodynamics off and it got 14.

Yeah I think at 100,000 miles its more Like broke down than broken in. I usually get a new one very 50,000 and don't notice a difference from 5,000 or 50,000.
