not happy with the ride when engine kicks down to 4 cylinders

Just bought a new 2013 sierra with 5.3 and 20 inch tires, when the DIC kicks in and drops it down to 4 cylinders it feels like the brakes are pulsating cause the engine dosent seem to have enough power to maintain the speed, is this normal ? has anyone felt the same poor ride?

Same "shake" happens to me when I accelerate from 4cyl to 8 cyl. Usually the worst round 30-40mph. Had it in for service once already, they re-learned the AFM / Tranny system which helped for a few months but it never fully went away. As soon as I have a free day I will be taking it in again. As soon as this warranty is up, a tune is in order.

Mine wasn't noticable when new. I do know the tranny kinda learns how you drive. I would pull the battery cables for a bit and see if that helps

I will pile on and suggest a Range. easy install and no footprint left in the ECU.

I noticed it most on a couple of hills I traverse daily ... at 65mph on the downhill side, DoD would engage without an issue. On the uphill side, DoD would disengage and the trans would downshift one and then immediately a 2nd gear, jumping the RPMs to over 3K and then immediately upshifting.

It was head-snapping and annoying.

The Range fixed it.

So is DoD a mileage thing or an emissions thing?

Mileage. I'm sure it helps boost numbers on the BS EPA test. Modern engines are so clean as it is I doubt this helps much of anything.

Yeah it will interfere with the monthly junk GM sends. I got one too even though I don't have the Range. I must've plugged in the scan tool at just the right time.

Would anyone be interested in an AFM add-on kit for pre- 2007 5.3 engine trucks and those with the 6.2 liter engine? Maybe they should petition GM to come up with one?
