Just curious, anybody manually checking their mpg against the computer? I know my '08 always shows .5 to 1.5 mpg more than actual. I think they program it to fudge up a little just because they can :)

I do, and it is usually within 1 mpg correct. See my signature line for my real world gas mileage average with 8 fuel ups since I have owned it.

Yea I do on fill ups. So far its been accurate betwen 1 and 0.5 mpgs. Better than my last car which was always 2-3 mpgs higher on the DIC.

1700 miles on my new '14 Sierra Double Cab (5.3 V8)...Interstate trip (400 miles) 22.1 mpg checked at the pump (which is the ONLY correct way), not going by the guage on the panel....all town driving...about 12 mpg...the highway mileage is about 2 mpg improved over my previous identical 2010...I have the 3.42 gears also....very satisfied with the mileage and love the truck overall, BUT see my post under shake/vibrations...took forever to finally change out the tires to Bridgestones to cure!

Any one else having this problem? First 3000 miles I averaged 22 1/2 miles to the gallon, My dealer called and said there was a recall on my truck ( something about valve timing/lifter issue) Now my truck is getting 14.7 miles per gallon and YES that is highway milage....GM and the dealership have both blown me off....What happened to the 23 per gallon in all the ad's....??????

Mileage may vary. Its a well written disclaimer. Give it some time as your shift points and driving habits over that first 3000 miles have been erased when the truck was reprogrammed. It has to learn your driving again.

30 + percent fuel mileage drop? Would think the truck would sound/run differently & would have found another dealer to run the truck by in the latter 3000 miles.

schultzy1957,

I understand why you would be concerned over your drop in fuel economy. If this is something you would like us to look into for you PM us your name, contact information, VIN, current mileage, and preferred dealership. We're happy to help.

I had the update on my truck done, back in Mid November. No MPG change for me, I'm still averaging 17.8 MPG in the city.

And I don't understand how yours could be so High. What were you doing going down hill and reset your DIC.

I for one would believe 14 MPG over what you posted.

Just saying....
