What is keeping you from buying a 2014 right now?

1. The Price. There's the Consumer Price Index (CPI) which really hasn't gone up much over the last four or five years, then there's the General Motors Price Index (GMPI) which I bet is double the CPI. It won't be long before very few working folks will be able to afford a new pickup truck.

Not good, I got many years left on this truck. I hope to get 10 years out of this truck but will see.

you guys that have 2-4 year old trucks don't have a lot of reason to upgrade. But there is a lot of pinned up demand out there from guys like me that have 10 year old trucks. I have been waiting for over a year for this new 2014 to come out.

I'm thinking of the new Ram. I sat in the country trim, amazing interior. Ram even put the light back under the hood. Very nice truck. I hear the 6.4Hemi is going to be the new and only v8 option soon. The dial shifter is not cool but it's a nice truck.

They're putting the 6.4 in the HDs. Half tons will still have the 5.7. Ram makes a nice truck but they're useless as one- aside from base trims you get lots of models that have a crew cab and an 800 pound payload rating. Keep in mind that 800 pounds is the limit for you, passengers and cargo. Pretty easily for dad, wife, a couple kids and their stuff to skyrocket past that rating.

I didn't wait for the 6.2 because it still has AFM, will inevitably get worse gas mileage than the 5.3, still won't make the truck "fast" (I come from bolted LSx cars my last being a 12.7 second G8 on street tires), and I wanted to take advantage of the great trade in value I had on my G8 GT (offered 12,000 from dealer, owe only $1,500 on it, and it had 117,500 miles). If I waited another few months for the 6.2 trucks I'd be getting hosed on trade I would think.

Wow, I can't believe it's only 800 pound rear bed rated. Even with airbags? I do alot of house Chores, dump runs and I've ran over 800pounds in bed alone on my current 11. I hope ram gets their act together on payload ratings. But I love the Ram so much lol.

It's been posted here before. And even in the latest Car and Driver test they mention it. But yeah, the high trim trucks don't get good numbers.

GM mentioned this at launch. The average truck age in the US is something like 11 years.

I'm waiting and hoping for a Silverado competitor to the RAM R/T and Ford Tremor.

I love the new trucks.....I want a regular cab....BUT....I want the 8 inch Nav Radio.....first and foremost.....but I'd also like leather bucket seats with the floor console and last but not least....a sliding rear window !

If they just put the up level radio in the regular cab I'd probably get one now.

Maybe the 2015 model year will have it as an option. The ordering and options are usually released in early April. Only 7 - 8 months away.....

Not sure why the nav radio is not avail in regular cab. It has to be the same dash as the crew cabs. :dunno:

You're right about that, I traded in a 2012 Ram for my 14, Ram's make awesome sport trucks and grocery getters, but they're not good "trucks" unless you get a 2500. The tow rating on the Ram's are misleading when you figure payload and tongue weight. If you search Ram forums there's a lot of threads with pissed off people who figured out they couldn't tow their new campers safely.

I just looked, you can get the 8" radio with the convenience package, but it's not the nav radio. Personally, I don't like factory nav, I just use google maps with my phone plugged in, and when the GM appshop comes out you'll probably be able to install some type of maps app. Looks like you're out of luck on leather, console, and the sliding rear window, not sure why they leave that out. I know RC's are less than 10% of sales, but some people would still like it.

It does show it with the convenience package...but if you read the fine print of the package it says......

  • Chevrolet MyLink®1 8" diagonal display audio system on Crew Cab and Double Cab models

I like it for much more than just the nav...the weather radar and traffic.....the hard drive ability to replay songs on the radio.....It's just a nice radio, I hate they limit the use of it for certain trucks.

I know some dealers around here that stock several regular cab Chevy's optioned out completely.....makes a good looking truck.

Like you say it's not for everyone...but if Ford and Ram cater to this people, I wish Chevy would too.....Chevy was the first truck maker to have bucket seats that I remember in a truck.

I hope maybe it will be a mid year introduction like maybe the Texas State Fair....but I'm not holding my breath.

It is the same dash exactly......I can see why you wouldn't want that fancy radio on a work truck, but lots of people still buy a regular cab to have a nice looking sporty truck that isn't strictly for work.

At any rate I hope it does happen one day.

I bet regular cab trucks will be gone in coming years. Like the manual trans... a thing of the past. They are small part of GM truck sales... and getting less each year.
