The reverse light should not have to be wired in. I'm pretty sure it's activated by the same wire that causes your mirror to tilt down when the truck is put in reverse. [emoji106]

 

you know i thought about that like 5 min after I posted that. like I said before I hope you are right, that would be sweet! very interested to see if this mirror will be p&p.

That would be nice. The plug on the DL3 mirrors has every slot occupied by a wire except for two. If the plugs on these are the same, everything should work. If these new mirrors have wires in those last two spots, it's likely something won't work.

The powerfold mirrors are going to end up over $1k/set, I almost can guarantee that. But, it is OEM, a lot nicer of a mirror, and has powerfold (obviously).

I think the key thing too, will be how the aftermarket ones hold up to wind, OEM being wind tunnel tested. And a lot of people like to stick to OEM, so I'm sure they will still sell a lot... and, power fold.

More than likely those aftermarket ones have the 4 bolts. Atleast if they have the three I can see in the pic, the 4th is in the bottom corner.

Just got the Longview slip on towing mirrors from eTrailer.com in today.

 

They're exactly what I needed, other than the unfortunate phoenix molded into the front. They'll only be on while towing so I can live with that though.

Towed the camper about 450 miles this weekend. Mirrors worked great. Very little wind vibration compared to the universal mirror I was using. Very quick to put on and take off.

Those of you still interested in mirror swapping...stop by your local GM dealer and see if you can get a copy of #PI1255A: Changing Outside Rearview Mirrors.

 

GM will give you all the juicy details on swapping mirrors!

I stopped by the dealership and got a copy and all the juicy details of said PI1255A. It doesn't even give you the oportunity to add mirrors with only power and heat. They are wanting you to change out the mirrors, both wireharness'es and install new switch for all vehicles currently without signals. The parts for all that from the dealer are a whopping $1151.04 plus tax and labor to have all that installed. Quite pricey if you ask me. There is not any added support to the door just the forth hole drilled.

 

How does GM go from stating DO NOT INSTALL WITHOUT REINFORCEMENT because the door is not supported, to drill a hole and install no problem?
