I just ordered one from Elite Engineering. After reading this thread it can't come soon enough!

One question on the install. Is it better to place it up by the 2nd battery tray or back by the master cylinder? I'm a little concerned having it up front and it being -25 for a few days straight in the winter. I just don't want anything to freeze up.

I think either is fine. Personal preference really. It will be warmer mounted in back, but I don't think an issue with either spot. When its up front it is way easier to drain, especially if you're shorter like me lol Edited by tw627x

Yeah in my opinion it pretty much just comes down to ease of access. Mine's a little harder to reach being mounted to the brake booster but either spot is fine. Freezing will only be an issue if the can is too full and the airflow gets blocked. At which point freezing doesn't matter because the unfrozen liquid would get sucked through as well. And the can is just as likely to freeze in either spot. So just mount it where it's most convenient for you and be sure to drain it properly and not let it get too full.

Thanks guys.

With the L bracket I ordered it looks like I can mount it either location so will probably go with the battery tray.

After all the discussion of catch cans, I ordered one from elite engineering. I ordered the base model I guess you would call it. Other than price, what's the difference between it and the gen 2 from elite?

325$ US!

Jesus. are these catch cans all that much?

My elite E2 was $165 through JDP Motorsports

Getting warmer!

Now if only our canadian dollar could stop being worthless!

So I just got my elite catch can and fixing to install. On the 5.3, The two ports used are under and to right of throttle body and halfway back on motor? Which of these goes to proper fitting on catch can? Connector below throttle body goes to top of can and connector halfway back on motor goes to side connector on catch can?

Check out the thread with the Add 1 catch can. 85.00 and it's doing the same thing as these expensive cans. The Add 1 looks better to. lol

My Add 1 has caught 3 table spoons worth of oil in 200 miles.
