Compare a Gmt900 to K2xx

I think the 2006-2007 was a more comparable transition. There is too much improvement all around on the 14 to think the previous body is a comparable alternative. I easily passed up 12k off a 13.

to each their own, I would never have considered the 99-07 trucks. I never liked them. I drove Dodges instead after I sold my 94 K1500. I drove the 14. i loved it but not for the price vs. the one I bought. I would have had to lease it at nearly the same payment as I'm making now to afford it.

I think your going to have to wait until the 14's start to rack up some miles and get a little age. For all we know they could become the worst pickup ever (knock on wood). But from what I can tell right now, the new trucks are much better overall. They ride a lot better, the interior is built a lot better, they are more efficent, they have more power, they have more tuning potential (DI), they are more comfortable, and they now have fully boxed frames which is a big big bonus in my book. I realize that looks are subjective but I personally even think they look better in and out. Nothing wrong with the old trucks, they just have there own set of quirks. I wasn't a fan of the way the old 6 speeds shifted and they didn't feel all that solid especially with age. All in all though you can't go wrong with buying a GM truck, your winning either way in my books regardless of what model or year your driving.

Sorry, way old thread.

I may be wrong, but thinking the frames are virtually the same between the 900's & the K2XX's? Know they changed the body mounts to absorb more shock/energy & tuned the leaf springs a bit. You can push

a 14 down on the rear bumper by hand a little easier than the 2007-2013.

Anyway, not being a hater, but originally loved how the new K2XX trucks looked the day they rolled them out. But the more I see the new vs old going down the road, kind of leaning toward the old.

The ONLY reason why is the roughly 1" tall body line that is above the fender flares that has the quarter circle at each end. Guessing it is there to help with the stamping process, but it totally interrupts how the rest of the

body lines flow. I know it is nit picking, but is the first place my eyes go every time one passes me on the interstate. Not hating on anyones truck or anything personal(only posting this to add another view point), but am happy I took the deal on the 2013 Sierra with a 6.2L.

So to the original poster, did you end up with a 900 or a K2XX? Neither?

Just traded a 2012 for a 2015 HD. Much better. No jerkyness in the trans, no AFM, the interior quality craps on the GMT-900 ones.

Absolutely. The interior in my '14 makes my old '09 LTZ look like it was made by Fisher Price.

I actually like that part  It's more pronounced on the sierra and I think it contributes to the overall look.

LOL. I prefer the GMT900 exterior and the K2XX interior. Looking for a good deal on 2015 / 2016 Duramax now that the 2017's with hood scoop and L5P Duramax have been announced.

Crew Cab is same physical size as GMT900 but due to different seats, bpillar move, etc the rear seat room increased a 2-3" in k2XX platform?

Interesting to see this old thread! I have to agree that the interior is much nicer in the new trucks. Of course I would have said the same thing when I traded my 00 in for my 09! The greatest improvement on these newest trucks is the engines. A gas sipping, powerful, trouble-free V6 was my motivation for trading my 09 for a k2xx!

    • I'm not sure if this should be a new topic, let me know if it's out of place. This my first post. Thanks 85077522 - AC Delco GM Genuine Parts Brake Master Cylinders. Anyone else had to replace this brake master cylinder yet. I didn't do any brake work, it looks like new parts and I've had the truck for about 4k miles, 119k total miles.  When it started to throw codes I did the calibrations with a bidirectional scanner and got the codes to clear but they came back so I did the routine; base bleed, automated bleed and final base bleed. All that with Bosch ES16-32N fluid (please look it up). That seemed to fix it but 100ish miles later it failed again so I ran the same process but with a pressure bleeder this time and got the same results, fixed for 100ish miles. The original fluid looked bad and I thought I got most of it out, it could've been the wrong fluid. The codes; P25A2, C05B0-00, C2A1B. I can get them to clear but not for long. The C05B0 indicates a leak in the front circuit (which is bone dry) so I'm thinking of doing the bleed process on that front again today and I don't know if that's taboo to just do the front but at this point it seems like it's worth the try anyway. The new master cylinder/module unit is supposed to get here today. But now I'm pretty much convinced this install is over my head. I've called several shops and some mobile guys that I know but this thing is like radio active material, scary wise. I did get 2 local shops say they should be able to do it, one says he has the SPS2 programing capability. And with the battery disconnected is there supposed to be pedal resistance, mine is to the floor, then if I pump it I can get some resistance. I had a panic stop prior to this issue which may have contributed from what I read. And on the first attempt to bleed and hydraulic test the scanner listed things to look for and one was any gaps between the pad and rotors which I did notice on the RF corner and I removed the outer pad (where the gap was) cleaned it and the hardware and didn't see a gap after that but will re-check it. I read that if pushing the caliper pistons back then you're supposed to open the bleeder so as to not push fluid backwards into the abs module or it will damage it. If that's true then that's also a possibility from the previous owner having the brakes changed before I got it. I'm using an XTool ip500 scanner. Any suggestions, questions and comments welcome.
    • Next Friday will be my 6 week point from my right knee replacement.  The surgeon says it will be fine if I choose to drive after this checkup.  I know I could drive now but best to do as my surgeon (and my wife) tell me.  Richard compared being 62 to 72.  I remember when I was in my early 60's I was experiencing slow but regular decline in my mobility.  Thanks to good medical support,  i continued to fight the speed and spread of this decline. During my 60's I worked on non-surgical methods and just when I turned 70, my orthopedic surgeon recommended joint replacements.  In a little over a year, I had one shoulder and both knees replaced.  This hasn't been a terribly fun experience, but worth the discomfort as my future mobility health trajectory has reversed.  It is a treat to now be watching my mobility. balance and confidence steadily improve!
