I just installed the Dynomax VT exhaust and I have to say that I am very happy with it. It's actually louder than what I was expecting since most of the feedback I've read on this forum has said that this system is too quiet. I did the install myself and it was extremely easy. To get the stock system off, I just jacked up the passenger rear, dropped the spare tire and wiggled it out. The hardest part was getting the exhaust off the hangers. I just WD40'd it and it definitely made it easier to wiggle loose. Install wise, this system comes in pieces with clamps to hold everything tight.

As for the sound / drone /V4 mode, you can't even tell that anything has changed. It has a really nice deep tone when you hit the throttle and quiets right down when cruising. Keep in mind that I also have the Airaid intake tube which I'm sure helped with the overall tone.

This exhaust was exactly what I was looking for. It's louder than stock, but not overly loud and sounds normal in V4. I'm actually shocked at how cheap this system is and was impressed with the fit and finish. Another positive is the throttle response! I had terrible lag when starting out from a red light...almost felt like the truck would lose power and kick back in. Now, it has a linear power delivery and can definitely notice an improvement in power and response. This is probably the biggest surprise since nobody has really mentioned if from previous reviews.

I did the exact same setup. VT system and Airaid intake. Great combo!

To each there own. This is what I did and I recommend it to everyone. Again I have a 6.2. Feel free to look at my other videos. This setup that I came up with sounds amazing.

VT has the chopper sound in V4 mode, mostly annoying at lower speeds.

My VT also had the chopper sound at slight throttle, very annoying when cruising down a flat 55 mph highway. Maybe the Airraid tube helps out with that, IDK. I love the sound of the VT had mid and wide open throttle but idle was very disappointing, almost like stock after the engine idles down at start up.

That borla sounds so damn good. I wonder if a shop would move the flapper after the the 3rd cat and run the pipe to that borla xr1 out to some nice tips.

So after watching this and silver ice's video above i'm kind of sold on picking up an XR1 muffler, Y pipe, and then mandrel bent tubing into tips, angled split rear.

I ordered a Carven Type R. Will probably be a few weeks before it's installed.

Consensus is to remove the resonator and flapper?

Remove resonator and flapper

Interested in the Carven - wondering if they make a 3.5" - with the flapper and res removed should sound pretty good..

I do not think they do. I believe they are only 2.5" and 3.0". Why do you want a 3.5"?

You could call them and ask if they could make a 3.5" for you.

When it comes time I will do that. Just the factory is 3.5" and If you ran a complete cat back at 3.5" with no restrictions it should pick up "Something" (Who knows) HP wise. I went from a 3" to a 3.5" on a built camaro and it picked up a super noticeable amount of torque on the butt dyno. Car felt way more powerful. Went from a 3" 40 series flowmaster to a 3.5" race 14" magnaflow it was quieter, deeper and more powerful than the 40 series.

I just have to think the flapper, factory exhaust, & resonator offer some type of restriction. Carven had a dyno of a 5.3 silverado that gained something like 15 rwhp and 23 ft-lbs. to me that is pretty substancial for a muffler. (maybe has better scavaging). But the two I'm looking at for my 6.2 would be the magnaflow or the carven. I believe it's the AR-1 carven that sounds really bad with a great tone & no drone.

5.3L is 3" exhaust and 6.2L is 3.5" exhaust?

    • 4 low is really nice on steep boat ramps.
    • Interesting, I suspect I would have fueled up in Lee Vining as the day prior I would have filled up either in Laughlin or near there and maybe again before I entered Death Valley and once out the other side late that evening as I kept on driving into the night up near Lee Vining. Next morning I most likely fueled up in LV before heading over Tioga Pass into ( as I refer to it as "Yose .... Mite" 😁 ). And again that was 19 years ago but the price then must not have jumped out at me like the 5 bill a gallon theme of nutty cult hippy country Big Sir or head so far up their rear Aspen. I'd be curious to know where the highest prices are in the lower 48, I probably would not be far off to guess somewhere in Cali forn ie. Coldfoot and Prudhoe bay may have those prices beat but that is a whole other world up there and when prices are more normal elsewhere that is about what they can be up there I believe in no mans land. Anyway interesting that the 395 corridor is hosing people and the thing is, its tourist season and its not like there are a lot of competition options when driving up that highway from what I could see. Yup, big ole Boaterhomes and various other RV's ahead and behind me at the Yosemite entrance gate and they have to get their fuel somewhere.
    • Those can be high, as well as the big California cities. The ones that will pop your eyes out are the 395 corridor on the Eastern side of the Sierra Nevadas. Lee Vining, $7.19 for regular and $8.89 for diesel is what the Google said right now.
    • Correct.  2019-2021 model years are serviced by a different p/n.  19420611.  Recall 2021s use 19420611.   The recall engines 2022-2024 model years are serviced with 12740076.     The difference between 19420611 and 12740076 is GM changed injector size for 2022.  The injectors are smaller on 12740076 with smaller injector bores in the cylinder heads to match the smaller injectors.  So you can't install a 19420611 in a 2022-2024, and you can't install a 12740076 in a 2019-2021.     Both engines are the replacement engine p/ns that are in the L87 recall.  So both of these are the updated engines.     Here's a version of the L87 recall with the p/ns for all the parts needed.    RCRIT-25V274-7075.pdf   Note it shows 19420611 and 12740076 with an asterisk to a footnote "Use the VIN and the GM Electronic Parts Catalog (EPC) to determine which part to order if two or more part numbers are listed for the same part, as it may vary by vehicle options."
    • Looking for advice from this group. Took my flawless 2020 6.2 TB to an unnamed shop for routine rear brakes and oil change. Tech forgot to put oil back in after the full service and needles to say, destroyed my engine.  It’s all on their shop video so they are responsible.   I had my Chevy dealer do the analysis and they confirmed its compromised and said engine replacement. The manager said they only get GM reman engines from GM with full 3 yr warranty and the one they would put in is not same as what’s they are swapping out on 21-25 for recall.    I am looking for advice why that would be a different engine because obviously I had the good 6.2 year and replacing it has my concerns with that recall for 21-15   Also what’s the pros and cons of accepting the engine swap vs telling the shop that bricked the truck to pay up so I buy a new truck. I’m concerned about stigma resale eventually if I just decide to get rid of it after the swap or other issues showing up after the swap out.
